Kahului Shore Excursion: Maui Tropical Plantation and Iao Valley Tour
Maui, United States of America
While you’re in port in Maui, bask in its natural tropical beauty at Iao Valley, where you’ll marvel at the Iao Needle. At the Maui Tropical Plantation, let your senses delight in Hawaii's native flower and food crops.
After being picked up from Kahului Pier, your Maui shore excursion starts with a drive to Iao Valley. Enter the lush forest at Iao Valley and learn about the history of Iao, the beautiful daughter of Maui. The 2,250- foot (685-meters) green-mantled Iao Needle overlooks Iao Stream, and the steep cliffs of the West Maui Mountains provide scenic views.
It was at Iao Valley in 1790 that King Kamehameha conquered Maui in order to unite the Hawaiian Islands, and changed the course of Hawaiian history. Take a leisurely hike and enjoy the exhibits at the valley’s Hawaii Nature Center.
Next, enter the Maui Tropical Plantation. You'll learn about Hawaii's 14 most- popular flower and food crops, such as papaya, guava, mango, taro, macadamia nuts and coffee. See a coconut- husking demonstration, feast on the delicious fresh fruits and capture the agricultural beauty of Maui.
Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return back to the ship in Kahului Pier for this activity. If your ship is delayed and you are unable attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.
Iao Valley Tour was not included and we were not informed. The remainder of Tour was good.

Whilst the tour was well organised and we did enjoy it, it is advertised as 6hours 830-230. We turned up at 830 and were told the tour didn't leave till 915 and were dropped back at the ship at 130 - a little over 4hrs. Apparently there is an add on for the aquarium which we didn't know about. After dropping the folk off to the aquarium we were returned to the ship and then the driver went back to the aquarium to do the pickup there. We felt too expensive for the length of the tour we got - 1 3/4 hrs short of advertised length.

We again were pleased with the personnel handling the check in and the bus driver knowledge. There was a group of 19 that showed up late and the bus driver came back to get them. The saving versus NCL price was worth it.

All of our viator trips were spectacular and worth the money; since we took about 8 trips with Viator on our last journey, it's hard to remember anything particular about this trip. What I can tell you is that it was everything I expected and more.

Tour too long. too much time spent at Ocean aquarium
Review by: Constance C, August 2012
The tropical Plantation and Iao Valley were both breathtaking! The Ocean Center was okay, unless you've been to another (bigger/better) Aquarium like Atlanta or Newport in KY.

My wife and I were both on electric scooters . We at all times received extra help on and off the bus.We were able to easily negotiate the ramp to the top of the lookout for the sensationally beautiful valley. The aquarium was first class, almost on a par with the "Monterey Bay" in California. At no time was there any difficulty with the scooters. No worries , just fun! _br/_

The most knowledgeable driver we experienced; with a great sense of dry humor adding to his commentary. The scenery was great and varied. A tour we would repeat if we ever return.
