Join real ‘paniolos’ (Hawaiian cowboys) on an unforgettable journey as they lead you on horseback through Maui's Mendes Ranch. Canter up green pastures to the edge of a lush tropical valley, admire views of the Pacific seascape, and discover some of the island's largest waterfalls on your 1.5-hour morning or afternoon ride. Upgrade includes a BBQ lunch after your horseback ride!
Your journey begins at the Mendes Ranch Corral, where you’ll be greeted by paniolos. Then, hop on your tame, gentle horse and follow your guides on a 1.5-hour trail ride!
8:45am Departure: On your morning ride, canter up rolling pastures and down the edge of Waihee Valley to the coastline, where you’ll view the magnificent Pacific waters. Here, your guides will take photos of you with the majestic seascape in the background. You’ll then head back up to the corral.
11:30am or 12:15pm Departure: On your afternoon ride, ride up into the mountains to the edge of a lush ravine at a 2,500 foot (762-meter) elevation. Here, you’ll see some of Maul's largest waterfalls in the distance.
Ride down along the edge of Waihee Valley, through taro patches and past plantation homes, before returning to the corral.
Upgrade either tour to include a BBQ lunch after your ride! Indulge in BBQ ribs, chicken, beans, salad and a dinner roll, accompanied by beverages.
Loved it. Went with my daughter, who is a seasoned rider. They break you up into your riding skills which is good because they can match the horse to the rider. They let you run the horse in a couple of places which is always fun. The scenery was breathtaking, would do it agin.

I would have said this was a great tour but I can't help but think the employee designated to assign horses purposefully gave me a horse that should have been put out to pasture a long time ago. Don't get me wrong, you designate based on level of skill but this horse wouldn't even listen to the commands of the employees so he certainly wasn't listening to me. The scenery was exquisite and even though we went in a circle it didn't feel like there was any scenery that we saw twice.

This was a wonderful tour. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the staff were just awesome. Highly recommend this horseback riding tour at the beautiful Mendes Ranch in Maui. I've been on horseback riding tours before, but none compare to this one.

We loved horseback riding with real cowboys who served as our guides. The ranch was relatively easy to get to and the scenery was spectacular. My husband and I rode Cowboy and Bailey. Beautiful horses with very distinct personalities.

Fun activity for all ages preteens to grandmother. Did not do the lunch, but the ride was great. Several in the group had never rode a horse, but the staff was so very helpful and the trail was safe for all involved.

Slightly disorganized. Good ride. Probably wouldn't do again, but was a bucket list item to cross off. Everyone was super friendly...be prepared for a super winding rode to get there. Also, they don't start at the time it says you need to be there....we were the first ones there. Also call ahead to make sure they got your booking right...trust me on that.

Most fun with we had in Maui! Butch and Kimo were outstanding guides and were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Absolutely beautiful scenery and numerous photo ops. Horseback riding at Mendes Ranch should definitely be on your to do list when visiting Maui!

The horse riding was wonderful. A lovely trail and very well taken care of horses. We were told to be there at 11:15 and event would start at 11:30 but we had booked lunch with the ride and I had no idea that we would have to eat before the ride. The person preparing lunch was miffed as she was not told we were there so she put the food out in a rush but I have no idea why. We were the only ones eating and everyone was just hanging around waiting for us so we gulped the unmemorable lunch down and went back then we waited some more for another hour just hanging around while two other later comers ate then more waiting while everyone was fitted with a horse and given a bit of riding instruction which was good. Then we were off and had a lovely ride with incredible views of land and ocean. Enjoyed it despite the disorganization. Next time I would not book it with the lunch. Who wants to eat at 11:30 and then ride? Do a morning ride the go somewhere to eat.

Lunch was awesome, horses were great! Took a little long to get on them since there was such a big group going, having to pair the horse with the rider, but once we got underway, it was awesome! Great views, kind of scary going up and down mountains but horses were gentle and did great!

Very nice scenery. Nice people too. The only thing that kinda took away from the experience were the horses themselves.... Lol. They were so reluctant to move and go . It was like riding stubborn mules. We spent most of our time getting them to walk more than anything. Other than that it was great.

In such little space to write, this tour was the best tour we took on our honeymoon. *Staff is amazing, personable, helpful, knowledgeable, oh and AMAZING! *Lunch was tasty. *Such beautiful scenery, and it was a cloudy day. *20 min drive from the cruise line port. You will NOT be disappointed.

This by far is one that you have to try! The Mendez Ranch is beautiful! 300 + acres nestled next to the cliff. As a first time rider, Trevor and Butch showed us how to ride. Guys were very funny and knowledgeable about the island. We were even able to Gallop with our horses once you felt comfortable riding. A true adrenaline rush. From beginners to advanced, this was one to experience! Recommended to go before May so you can see the whales from the lookout point.
