Even though it rained most of the day, the trip was amazing, and Gayle, our driver was very knowledgeable and fun, and made the tour very enjoyable! The van was very comfortable for an all day trip.

The road to Hana is a winding road with waterfalls. Hana is not impressive. Tour guide was a great and safe driver considering the road. The fact it rained all day was probably part of the issue.

We decided on the small-group tour instead of the bigger tour, in part because my height makes it uncomfortable to travel in your typical bus. If you have long legs, this is worth it, I never felt cramped at all. Having such a small group also meant we had more time for each stop, since it was so much quicker and easier to get on and off the van. The tour itself was beautiful, featuring numerous stops and a plethora of information and history behind what we're seeing along the way. The two meals we stopped for were very tasty. The best thing about the tour was to not have to drive the road to Hana ourselves. After going through the winding, clifftop, sometimes one-way around a blind curve roadway, I cannot recommend enough going on a tour like this so that you don't have to drive it yourself, which also means you can sight-see out the window instead of having to look at the road. As an added bonus, you get an entertaining personality in your driver, at least we did with Les. We had a great time, highly recommended.

Our driver, Al, was courteous and attentive. He was a careful and skilled driver, which gave us comfort in the challenging road to Hana. Al needs to recheck his facts on sugar cane farming and production of sugar if he is going to talk at length on the subject. This luxury tour is marketed as a foodie tour neither the Mambo Café in Paia for breakfast, nor the Travasa Hotel in Hana best offerings, hamburger and fish tacos were better than OK. We were a group of 6, including a member with physical disability. My wife and I were the youngest at 72 and 71 respectively. No opportunity for swimming was given, no visit to the pools in Hana, limited stops for photo opportunities.

TLDR: Do NOT spend your money on this Slog to Hana. Rent a car or book with a different tour company.

The tour is really good only 4 people on the tour, so that was great and the scenic beauty is really something you can't describe, BUT in my opinion, there was too much focus on telling us about the plant life AND not enough stopping for some photo ops supposedly there 50-60 foot waves in the ocean, but not in view from the van and that would have been something we all would have liked to see. It almost seemed as if our driver/tour guide was on a very tight schedule. I highly recommend doing the Road to Hana as a tour because I can see where driving it yourself would not be as enjoyable lots of tight turns, single lane roads and bridges...BUT nothing like you feel you are going to drive off the edge of a cliff.

Great tour - relaxing not to have to drive the narrow, twisting road. Would recommend

We had a great trip! Our tour guide, Wayne was a delight! He was a fountain of information about the area! We had a very comfortable van. Breakfast and lunch were at wonderful local restaurants! It was well worth the money!

We were only four guests on this tour and our guide Melany was absolutely amazing. We learned so much about the road to Hana and the local lore. We made several stops, one being to see the turtles on the beach! We also visited a black sand beach and saw the huge waves being forced up into a blowhole within the lava rock formations! The diverse vegetation was incredible. We also saw several waterfalls. We would highly recommend this trip.

This was a good trip. We had good weather and a knowledgeable tour guide. Be careful of the winding roads since they can cause some vertigo.

We did the ultimate tour and had a memorable time Gail's enthusiasm for Maui and it's rich history, nature and culture is evident. We appreciated all the opportunities to get out of the van and experience the view, beaches or waterfalls up close and personally Since this is the foodie tour the breakfast and lunch spots were terrific Mango Cafe in Paia and Trevasa in Hana.

Tour guide was dull, food was disappointing compared to other tours we did. Meant to have lunch at a tropical garden nursery but the only place we went to was a sales pitch to send flowers from a tiny eco nursery where there was no where to eat - ended up having lunch at the beach in Hana with other tour groups. Overall if you're ok with driving do this one yourself don't rely on a tour.

This is the only way to travel the Road to Hana. Vehicle was comfortable and driver was excellent at negotiating the turns and bridges of the trip so we could sit back and enjoy the sites. He was very knowledgeable about the area and Maui in general, Made stops at waterfalls, black sand beach, little hippie town of Paia, giant sea turtle beach and other points of interest. Would have preferred to have left earlier so we could have spent more time at the beaches and waterfalls. But overall a very enjoyable day.

Good tour guide and taking the bus saves you the effort of driving the twisty sometimes single lane road to Hana.

We took the Hana small group tour on 8/20. We were fortunate to be the only people touring that day. Al was our tour guide for the day. He arrived at our condo right on time. Al was friendly and very knowledgable about Hana and the history of Maui and really made everything we saw so much more meaningful. We made frequent stops for photos and saw everything we had hoped to see. After driving on our own up to the Haleakala summit, it was really enjoyable and relaxing to have someone else do the difficult driving to Hana, and we could focus just on the beautiful scenery. Our two teenagers really liked stopping to swim at the black sand beach by Hana. All in all, it was a great tour and we would highly recommend it!

great tour ... the right size and out tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would recommend eating breakfast before you go though...we thought breakfast was included so we were pretty hungry when we stopped for juice/was and coffee cake at about 10. everything else was wonderful...

Paul was so informative. We learned so much about Maui and Hawaii. All of the stops were great and my kids enjoyed all of them (Hana Tropicals, waterfalls, black sand beach etc.) I am glad we did this tour rather than driving ourselves. It meant we could enjoy the views without the stress.

A comfortable 8 passenger van takes you on the serpentine road to Hana and back. There is a stop for breakfast in Paia and lunch in Hana. There are scenic stops along the route. Tour guide Les was very informative. There could be more brief stops for a look and photos, but the narrow road and shoulders make this difficult. We were very fortunate in having blue skies.

The guide was just OK. She didn't know much history about the Road to Hana and if she did she didn't share the history with the group. She was more interested in telling personal stories than history along the route of the tour. We felt very rushed in several spots and didn't even have enough time to go to the Black Sand Beach. This was very confusing to us due to the fact the tour was supposed to be 8 hours long but ended up taking 11 hours. Not sure what see was doing because we had only 10-15 minutes in several spots along the way. Would have rather missed the pictures of the rainbow eucalyptus trees and actually get to see the beach. The photo attached is as close as we got to the beach. She also loved the turtles, but how many pictures and how long can you look at a turtle laying in the sand not moving? The trip was just it needed to be better planned and executed. We were so glad the van was very nice and comfy.
