Mumbai City Highlights Small-Group Tour
Mumbai, India
Experience Mumbai like a local! Discover what exciting Mumbai has to offer on this comprehensive half-day tour of the city’s famous sights. Ride the taxis or buses with locals and admire the city’s diverse architecture. See and learn about Mumbai’s stunning structures, including the 14th-century Haji Ali mosque and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Victoria Terminus.
This Mumbai city sightseeing tour is a great introduction to the city – get familiar with Mumbai and see its top attractions in one day. Start at the Victoria Terminus, Mumbai’s most famous example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Travel across the city on board a taxi and go back in time as you view Mumbai’s wealth of colonial-era buildings. View the Gateway of India, a bold basalt arch reflecting Hindu and Islamic architecture styles. Located at the waterfront, this monument welcomed visitors who arrived in Mumbai by boat.
Continue on a ride through Marine Drive and onto the 200-year old Shiva temple, Babulnath. Here, you may see devout Hindus carrying milk and water to pour over the Linga, the creative symbol that denotes Lord Shiva. A short ride later, see the 14th-century Haji Ali mosque, located on an islet off the southern coast of Mumbai, and admire the beautiful Indian Islamic architecture. Continue back to the city and see the Dhobi Ghat, the biggest open-air laundry facility in Mumbai, where men wash the clothing by thrashing it against slabs of stone.
After your tour, ask your local guide for tips if you’d like to keep exploring. Find out about night shopping at local markets or where to take a walk by the waterfront.
Sujit is an excellent tour guide. I rolled into Mumbai from Jaipur, following a stay in Delhi, so I was desiring flexibility with my time. The tour exceeded my expectations. If you like to walk and hope to become familiar with this mesmerizing city while hearing a vivacious youthful local soul describe it's beauty: This Tour is for YOU.

Our guide Sujit was great. With only two customers it felt like a private tour. He was knowledgeable and and happily answered all our questions. Walking most of the itinerary was a good way to get a feel for Mumbai. I can highly recommend Sujit and this tour as a fantastic way to spend half a day getting to know Mumbai.

The perfect way to cover a lot of Mumbai and get an overview of the sites in a very short time. Our guide, Yogesh, was extremely knowledgeable and very good at making us feel comfortable and at waving away curious men, as we were two blonde female travellers!_br/_ Highly recommend this tour if you are short on time in Mumbai and want to see lots.

Could not take the tour. I was under the impression the tour p/u location was across from Chatrapati Shivaji Airport when in actuality was at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus which is a train station several miles away. I was dropped off here with my baggage by a taxi that cost INR600. I was met by Yogesh, the young tour guide who told me was a walking tour and extremely difficult with baggage. So I could not take the tour! I had to take a taxi back that cost me another INR600

It was so much fun getting to explore Mumbai partly by foot. Accompanied by a local you get to see much more than you'd walking alone. Great guide, great experience.

We highly enjoyed this small group tour it was only my partner and I, our guide Sagar was very responsive and helpful. We walked for about 2 /3 hours and cabbed to various other locations, a refreshing alternative to the standard 'a/c bus city tours'.

I really enjoyed this tour. Sagar took us all around Mumbai and suggested places for lunch and dinner later that day. A great way to get over jetlag.

Didn't realize it was a walking/ cabbing outing but that made it all the easier t veer off th agenda when desired. His is a wnderfyl it er early for the cultural curious. Mumbai shows best at a leisurely pace and this one goes just how you like it.

This was a wonderful tour and well worth the time. Sana Jinah, my guide, was excellent. Her English was very good and she knew a great deal about the places we visited. She was attentive to what I wanted to do and to the questions I asked. Overall, a great day in Mumbai.

Wow! Great tour, excellent guide. We walked through Mumbai and enjoyed the sights. Our guide was happy to point out all the points of interest, the architecture, little known history and spots for great pictures. We had a most delightful tour. Happy to recommend this tour.

My guide was Sana and I would recommend her and the tour to anyone visiting Mumbai. She is knowledgeable, funny, and confident, and an excellent person to help with navigating a chaotic city. Her calm confidence made me feel comfortable experiencing Mumbai on my own. She tailored the tour to my interests and clearly knows a lot about the city and how to guide people.

Good tour. For the start of the tour, everything was within 2 miles, so the guide gave me the choice of walking or taking a taxi. I chose walking, thinking I'd get to see more of Mumbai, but there isn't much in between the sights. The guides were informative. Overall, it serves its purpose, seeing some Mumbai sights in a short amount of time. Exactly what I was looking for.

Like many of the other reviews, I cannot praise Pravar to highly, he met me outside McDonald's across from Chatrapti Shivaji Station and then after talking to me suggested if it was not to warm for me that we do a walking tour of the centre of Bombay. This was good for me because I was able to so small insights to the Fort District i would have missed if we had used taxis. We also used taxis to get to other parts of the city and then as a treat Pravar was heading out to Bandra and as my Hotel was up by the Airport at Vile Parle a ride on a Western Line Bombay train was done. When I return to Bombay sometime in the future I will be asking for Pravar for an evening tour of the Bandra District.

Our guide was knowledgeable and very attentive (he pushed my wife's wheelchair in many places where the terrain was uneven and difficult and this was much appreciated..However his vehicle was substandard and the air conditioning was only on for a short period of time._br/_

This tour was brilliant because of the guide Pravar. He was punctual, respectful and very knowledgeable. He also gave me some very much needed "after sales service" by helping me send my large shopping spoils home. Highly recommended.

Although the original tour operator was ill Viator quickly organised another tour guide who turned out to be very good and knowledgeable and we were highly delighted._br/_
I fully recomend using Viator when booking tours abroad in advance
Review by: Thomas S, January 2014
Our guide was 1 hour late. He was pleasant and knowledgeable but I don't think he gave us the tour that was advertised. According to the Viator website, we were supposed to take a taxi and train on the tour. Except for a metro ride to the open air laundry we walked for the entire tour. I believe he left out some of the sights, we did not see the Hindu temple and when we asked about Gandhi's house, he said there wasn't one.

I love this tour very much, with special thanks to our guide, Pravar. He is friendly and he knows the history very well. He even took the extra mile to pick us from our hotel, let us try local food and even take the train, which is a great experience! After we are back to the hotel, we wanted to go out to buy something, but were worried about safety. I called Pravar and he gladly brought us out again without any charge. As for this tour, it's a well-planned tour that gives us a good local experience and understanding of the Mumbai city. I highly recommend it to those who want to explore the Mumbai City.

Urban Adventures was not aware that we had booked a whole day tour. They had to adjust the programme. Guide was good. We had to take an expensive taxi to return to the city center.

It was ok to get an short Idea of Mumbai. _br/_
Lots of walking on this Tour. Guide was very friendly and helpful. _br/_
Very negativ on this Tour are the starting Point which was very, very hard to find. No signs! Also end of the Tour in Bandra a very negativ point. Bandra is far outside of Mumbai City.

The trip was informative and the guide pleasant and knowledgable, but the trip was advertised as travel aboard an air-conditioned motor coach. No A/C and no motor coach, miles of walking that wouldn't be possible for some with handicaps. A boring lunch -- for a group they should be variety and sharing to enhance experience. We cut trip short after lunch as we were tired, hot, and sun burnt. Would not have seen the sights of the city without so the overall trip was reasonably enjoyable.
