Set sail by tall ship to pristine Tivua Island, offering all the attractions of a small Fijian tropical island. This 7-hour cruise includes hotel pick up and drop off from Nadi, a guided snorkeling tour, glass-bottom boat tour, use of canoes, Kava ceremony, volleyball, morning and afternoon tea, music and entertainment and a tropical buffet luncheon.
Cruise, swim, explore and relax.
Tivua Island is close enough to Nadi to be the perfect destination for an introduction to cruising the islands of Fiji. Set sail by tall ship to this pristine island, surrounded by 500 acres of spectacular coral reef. Tivua Island is a sanctuary for turtles during the nesting season, and is surrounded by a circle of white sandy beaches.
Sailing aboard the brigantine Ra Marama you will be able to sunbathe in the bowsprit, watch for dolphins playing in the bow wave and enjoy the music and entertainment as you cruise. This historic tall ship, named after a famous nineteenth century Fijian war canoe, was built for the Governor General of Fiji in 1957.
Upon arrival at Tivua Island, soak up the natural atmosphere where you can swim in the tropical waters, explore the island or simply relax on the pristine sandy beaches. If you're feeling energetic, a selection of water activities such as snorkeling or the use of canoes is included. You will also be able to indulge in a delicious buffet luncheon before the return sail to Nadi.
Highlights Include:
Morning and afternoon tea, music and entertainment
Buffet luncheon including barbecue chicken, whole baked fish, sausages, garden fresh salads, fruit, fresh baked bread rolls, local beer, wine and soft drinks
Beautiful island experience with many fun activities. I wish we could have stayed longer! They also had a scuba option for additional couple hundred USD. Bring a lot of water for the boat rides. Everything is free once you're on the island, but they charge on the boat, which is approx. 1.5 hours each way, and not very well shaded. Besides that, this tour is excellent and very worth the day and money. Chrystal clear water to snorkel in, and you'll see incredible fish and baby reef sharks! This was the highlight of our time in Fiji.

I only booked this the evening before sailing. Within half an hour, I had my emailed voucher and a call from Captain Cook Cruises to confirm my booking and arrange pick up at my hotel. Off to a great start.. it only went Up from there. Our Guide Li was the best! Friendly, helpful and insightful as he guided us snorkeling, kayaking and even a cava ceremony on the boat. I would highly recommend this tour as it was one of the highlights of a three week trip south. Thanks Viator, for your quick, professional response to my last minute booking

Our ship had engine trouble on the way out to the island, but they sent a 2nd ship to pick us up, and extended our time on the island. Crew was great, keeping us entertained while we waited. Our time on the island was fun, although too short. We enjoyed the snorkeling and scuba diving thanks Jamie!. Even though the water was not very clear due to recent storms, we still saw a lot of different fish. I wish they had a few more kayaks and SUPs, and that we had a little more time on Tivua.

Excellent trip to get out among the outer islands.

This is just a really fun day. Everything is included and you won't worry about a thing. On the island you are treated like royalty. Get a cabana close to the bar and really take advantage of the free drinks and be first in line for the delicious fresh good . On the boat, you pay for drinks but it's cheap. The crew are fabulous.

The small island was very nice. It was all to our group and included good variety of activity options. Just the changing and toilet facility was quite small and not that good.

My husband and I booked this on a whim for our second to last day in Fiji. We are so glad that we did! We were a little bummed that we didn't get to take the sail boat out for this particular date and that it wasn't noted anywhere when booking but we still really enjoyed the trip to the island. The crew was awesome. There was plenty of beer and the food was good. We kayaked, played a little volleyball, and did the glass bottom boat tour.

This tour takes place on the Tivau island. The lunch and drink provided were superb however, do note that bottled drinks on the boat are not free of charge. The only complain I have is time. We reached the island about 12pm and by 3pm we had to leave the island. The time constraint left me and my family unable to do many activities besides the snorkeling and glass bottom boat tour. The glass on the boat were murky and one of it was broken so the view wasn't really clear.

What an amazing experience. The ship is a nice size--not too large and we had the opportunity to meet and chat with other travelers. Li Lee? was an awesome guide--so very helpful with everything from getting us onboard to showing us tips for snorkeling. It's hot - bring lots of sunscreen and re-apply throughout the day. Also, wear comfortable sand/beach/ocean shoes since the sand becomes very hot. We snorkeled, then rode the glass bottom boat. Amazing coral views and fish, even saw an octopus and a sea cucumber.

It was a great and fun trip. The staff are so friendly and the songs they sing are great and so funny too as they get you to join in sailing back. Sails to a private island with just the people on board and the lunch was fantastic. Beach was great to relax and there's activities to do like the glass bottom boat or the free kayaks and paddle boards they have available to use. We all enjoyed it and great for families too with children.

We had a great day - everything you'd expect a tropical island day to be. Staff were friendly and entertaining - get singers. You could do plenty or not much, water was warm - we spent most of the day in it!

The memories of our day on Tivua island are now my new Happy Place! This tour is soooo worth it. Brilliant white sand, crystal blue water and the most amazing colourful fish._br/_ The crew on the boat were awesome. Once underway we were entertained with fijiian songs. On the island you can do everything or relax and do nothing. The kids loved it. Snorkelling, scuba diving, stand up paddle boards and glass bottom boat._br/_ After a huge buffet lunch we played volleyball with the crew._br/_ Good times.

The duration of the trip was too short, basically you get there, do a short activityabout an hour, have lunch, and then do another short activityabout 30 mins?, and the trip is over. If it was about two hours longer, it'd have been perfect.
Review by: Anthony j C, August 2016
Tour was ordinary,no free drinks until you got to the island and then it was only cups, where wines tales was free drinks from when you got onto the boat, also the biscuits for afternoon tea where all broken, for money it was not worth it.

Beautiful sailing boat and wonderful staff made the day very special for my husband and I. Tivua Island was incredible with our own undercover area with chairs and a bean bag where we sat and overlooked the stunning water and surrounds. The lunch on the island was delicious and extremely substantial with free flowing beer, wine and soft drinks. Wouldn't hesitate to do this cruise again with Captain Cook Cruises next time I visit Fiji.

A joyous escape to a private island. The crew was friendly, courteous and helpful.

Absolutely first class. While not old in comparison to other sailing ships, the old lady had a class of its own and the crew made everything interesting and fun. Our time on the island was great and the BBQ was superb._br/_ We both enjoyed every minute including when a member of crew lent me his sandals for wading from the landing craft to the shore as the broken coral was quite sharp my tender old feet. A great day out that ended too soon.

Fabulous cruise. Seven of my family members went for my 60th birthday.I was made to feel special from the 1st birthday wish as I got on the bus. Staff were friendly and attentive.Steven was especially helpful, finding extra bean bags etc to accommodate the 7 of us on the island. He also made sure we had snorkelling gear. Activities were great, some went scuba diving, others snorkelling and others the glass bottomed boat. Lunch was really nice and I was again made to feel special by my new Fijian family singing Happy Birthday to me, led by the talented Steven. After lunch my daughter and I had a relaxing massage. I had the best birthday ever, it was the highlight of our trip to Fiji. Do not hesitate to book this cruise.

We got changed from the tall ship to a catamaran cruise boat due to the weather - was upset about this as what not notified in advance and I had particularly wanted the tall ship - being upset did not last long however, as the crew of the ship were wonderful people and went out of their way to ensure we all enjoyed it - they went above and beyond in helping with our three year old, teaching her to snorkel and looking after her while my husband and I snorkelled. It rained on and off on the day of our cruise, but this did not stop it being a wonderful time - the island was beautiful, had undercover ares and when you're snorkelling your getting wet anyway so made no difference. Again, excellent trip and the most wonderful people.

It was an adventurous trip! Half way, it started raining. We didn't prepare for rain! They should have kept Rain Coats on the Boat.

This trip was superb, highly recommend. Took my husband and parents and I've backpacked the world. Didn't want too touristy but not too backpackey for parents and wanted to get out onto an island for first day in Fiji and back after 10 days there. This trip was really great value (other trips were hundreds of dollars more). The staff on this ship were incredible. All were locals and they were very Fijian (so warm and friendly. A male staff member picked up one of the crying children of a tourist and sang him lullabies to sleep. OMG, such amazing service). Oh, the lunch buffet was awesome. We could have had longer snorkelling but that's the only small improvement we'd make. The reef is ok, not the most impressive in Fiji, but the whole trip was fantastic and worth it. We'd do again. It's run by Captain Cook Cruises and clearly they know what they're doing. Booking through Viator was painless and easy. Would book thru them again.

This cruise was in lieu of the Mammanuca Island Cruise. Viator made a huge mistake here taking my money and telling me the Mamanuca Cruise was confirmed. Was not until I contacted the operator to have some questions asked that Viator had failed to respond to was I advised that they had the ship in dry dock and would not be operating at the time Viator has booked and confirmed. The Tivua Cruise was great, the crew very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and I noticed how well they looked after the smaller children. Would definitely recommend this cruise but not Viator who after this first mishap again stuffed up big timewith another tour I had booked, paid for and had confirmed. So yes do the Tivua Cruise but book it when you get to Fiji through the operator and not Viator. Will never use Viator again.

Hello,_br/_
We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip. All arrangements went smoothly, however a little disappointing that we could not sail without the motor, so did not get the full experience of sailing on a schooner. However it was a lovely way to spend our 46th wedding anniversary._br/_
Many thanks for your excellent arrangements.
