Central Park TV and Movie Sites Walking Tour

New York City, United States of America

Visit more than 30 movie locations in Central Park on this walking tour, perfect for film buffs and first-time visitors alike. Visit the Wollman Rink, the Bow Bridge, the Carousel, the Naumberg Bandshell, Strawberry Fields and more to see where famous movies such as 'Serendipity,' 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s,' 'The Avengers,' 'When Harry Met Sally,' 'Ghostbusters' and 'Sex and the City' were filmed. This is a unique, interesting and fun way to experience Central Park and its many attractions.

Meet your guide in Central Park in the afternoon to begin your walking tour. Your insider guide -- an actor or actress with an expertise in film or TV -- will take you on a leisurely 2-hour stroll through the park to visit more than 30 filming locations from your favorite movies and TV shows.

See the stone Gapstow Bridge, featured in Home Alone 2, and see the famous 19-story Plaza Hotel, which has been featured in several films including Barefoot in the Park, Brewster’s Millions, It Could Happen To You, Big Business, Crocodile Dundee, Almost Famous and King of New York.

Next, visit the Wollman Skating Rink, featured in Serendipity, Stepmom, The January Man and Love Story. Continue to arguably the best-known attraction in Central Park, the Carousel. For just USD $2 you can enjoy a ride on the carousel featured in The Producers, The Spanish Prisoner, Up the Sandbox and I’m Not Rappaport.

See the beautiful Victorian building known as the Central Park Dairy, as seen in Independence Day. Stroll through the Mall, also known as the Promenade, an area popular for socializing and relaxing. Movies such as Vanilla Sky, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Big Daddy and Kramer vs. Kramer all had scenes that shot featured here.

Spot the Bethesda Terrace, with the famous Bethesda Fountain located in the middle, and the restaurant at the Loeb Central Park Boathouse, featured in films such as When Harry Met Sally, Sex and the City, Little Manhattan and in the final scene of The Avengers.

Other sites you'll visit are the Bow Bridge, featured in films such as Autumn in New York, Keeping the Faith, The Way We Were and Woody Allen's Manhattan; the Naumberg Bandshell, featured in I’m Not Rappaport, Mighty Aphrodite and Hair; and Cherry Hill, whose beautiful springtime cherry trees make you feel as if you're part of a scene in The Mirror has Two Faces, and Cruel Intentions.

Next, venture through Strawberry Fields, which was dedicated to John Lennon after his death, and continue to Sheep’s Meadow and Tavern on the Green, the restaurant that appeared in New York Stories, Wall Street, Made and The Out of Towners.

Your tour ends at Columbus Circle, where Taxi Driver, Ghostbusters, Borat and Enchanted were shot.

Our guide was great. I am so sorry I couldn't remember his name. At the end of our tour he did a great impression of Jim Carey. The park is huge and without the guide we will just be strolling in just another park. There were so many movies that were shoot here. Our guide will show us some movie scenes on his iPad on the location that we went through. He will give us time for toilet and camera stop. Overall, it was a great experience.

On reflection I dont think we needed a guide to see the sights in Central Park - we could have walked this ourselves.

Beautiful weather for a walk in the part. It was fun for a first time visitor and seasoned visitors as well. The tour guide was a promising actor who will no doubt be famous some day. Finish the tour with a drink at Tavern on the Green

Our Tour Guide was a young actress/singer. The group was quite large and it was sometimes hard to hear what she was saying, but she knew her movies and scenes. Would definitely put this one on your list.

A good introduction to Central Park history and a number of the films and TV filmed there. Our guide Kelsey did a good job of highlighting different locations which would mean something to the wide age range of the group. Images were shown of films on an ipad but it might have been clearer to show print outs. The group was quite large so it wasn't always possible to hear everything. The guidance given for meeting the group was perfect.

Kate was on time, and very nice!! I felt the trip could have been a bit longer, it was advertised as 2 hours, but really lasted on 1 hour and 40 minutes, and that was with two breaks. It would have been nice to go deeper into the park, and to have seen the anger management spot where the movie ended. All in all a nice way to see the park! Thank you!!

We could not hear the guide, there were so many other people on the tour that when we reached where she had stopped to impart information we not only missed most of it but again could not hear. Quite disappointed.

The guide was thoroughly knowledgeable and entertaining. Really good walking pace and use of pictures at each important location. The 2.5 mile walk did not seem to be that long. The park was clean. Lots of time spent for photo ops.

Max was our tour guide and he was wonderful. He has a wealth or knowledge about the tour and a great sense of humor. He includes the people on the tour in his presentation. There were so many movies filmed in Central Park that I didn't know about. I plan on re-watching a number of them in the coming weeks. I especially loved seeing Strawberry Fields and Imagine. Thanks Max and Viator for a great afternoon in Central Park.

Was not the tour I was expecting. Movie Sites Tour meant Movies (not TV sites) At least I thought when I signed up to attend this tour. Nothing was wrong with the tour guide--it was just the content. Also the directions were incomplete waited 45 minutes in wrong location--where on 59th street? What landmarks?

firstly, anyone reading this should know that the directions for the start of the tour are at best misleading! The meeting point is REALLY on the 59th St side of Central Park, across from the Plaza Hotel, where you see the Oak Room. There IS a subway entrance there, but you will look hard to find it. So don't stand at the entrance to Central Park, as you will miss your tour. The tour itself was very informative, but if you are overweight like me, it is really fast paced. Maybe they could slow down a little or have 1hr tours to specific areas within the park?

We had a great tour guide that took us through Central Park to show us where different movies were filmed and other information about television shows were "filmed out" and also where some famous people live or have lived. The tour was 2 hours and we walked 2 miles but no one complained - it was awesome! I would highly recommend this for people who need new ideas when they visit NYC!
