This tour was amazing!!! I learned so many little known facts about Harlem and the tour guide was very informative!

Disappointing, it was so contrived. The 'choir' had clearly not practiced their songs which were mostly carols, not gospel songs. Then they asked 'the bus people ' to leave... about 4 groups filed out I presume so that they could have their service alone. We were then taken to a taco restaurant owned by the organiz which was not exactly was expected as it was offered as a local meal in Harlem.

On a sunny Sunday morning we joined our delightful and engaging tour guide Carolyn for a leisurely walking tour of Harlem. Being a local and living in the area she was able to give us an interesting insight into the rich history and recent development of Harlem and expertly pointed out the architectural features of significant buildings as well as wave and chat to her friends and neighbours along the way. We passed the famous Apollo theatre, strolled through beautiful tree lined streets flanked by the traditional Harlem Brownstone houses and we were warmly welcomed by the congregation of a local Baptist church where we were able to join in the uplifting and very moving singing of the gospel choir. The tour concluded with Carolyn hosting a delicious brunch in a local restaurant where she continued to entertain us with stories of Harlem past and present. A most enjoyable small group tour highly recommended for all.

Even though the day was overcast, our tour guide Carolyn was bright and sunny. Her knowledge of the neighborhood she lives there adds a great color especially as her neighbors recognize her on the street. I truly knew nothing about Harlem but because my Dutch ancestors arrived here a few hundred years ago, I thought maybe it would be a good time to walk their walk. It was a real history lesson and seeing how this area has transformed itself over and over is inspiring. Even though the church we attended was having an unexpected event limited how much we could see and the time we spent there, we were able to get a flavor of their faith community. Thank goodness that Carolyn was our guide...she helped other tour groups because of the unexpected delay. After our tour, she took us to a restaurant that made me wonder.... Wonder no more! Irrespective of its name, Sexy Tacos, it was a fusion of Latin-Soul and some southern! A great surprise. At the end of the tour, she pointed some of us who were still hungry to see things in the direction of downtown and we literally walked 15 minutes to Central Park. Beautiful day in Harlem! A hidden bargain of a tour!

Our tour guide was lovely. She walked us around Harlem and gave us a great insight into the area. Church was fun. Lunch was also great. My only recommendation would be to allow more time to stay in Harlem as there is lots to see.

This is a great tour. Our Guide was Carolyn and we were a smaller group of only 5 including her. Even though the weather on the Sunday morning we went was freezing we had a coffee break an hour in and then the church service so we were able to get out of the elements. The tour culminates at the Baptist Church where many other tourist groups also meet. The service itself is broken into two sections so the service only takes an hour at most. From there we went to lunch at the Sexy Taco - about a 10 minute walk from the church. This was included in the price and the mexican food was very good. So if you are looking for a safe and enjoyable way of spending a Sunday morning in Harlem book this tour.

Absolutely fantastic tour! Being shown the real Harlem by a local resident and hearing about the history was great and then the gospel singing was amazing. We were in a small group which meant we could ask questions easily and the tour felt more personal and friendly. Having the chance to meet some of the local personalities the Harlem Picasso! was also great._br/_ Definitely made me want to explore more of this part of New York.
