This was an inexcusably bad tour. Mid-January in NYC only has a few boat tour options, and I chose this over the Circle Line alternative because it had multiple departure time options per day but it was AWFUL. We arrived as recommended 30 minutes before departure, which turned out to be unnecessarily early since it involved standing in a cordoned line outside in the cold and attendees were never going to exceed capacity because of the time of year. We were evenutally let onto a tired old boat with random, mismatched tables and velour 1970s function chairs. The carpets and surfaces were covered in crumbs, the table tops decorated wth rings of sticky residue from what appeared to be weeks of previous use with no cleaning. We set out inauspiciously to nearly ram a passing barge before a quick reverse maneuveur led to hitting the pier. Our friend, an NYC first-timer, was curious about what we were passing but there was NO COMMENTARY OR GUIDANCE. We bought coffees and ate pringles from the basic but adquate on-board cafe and stared out the window wondering what was what. Eventually after half way through the trip we discovered there was a working speaker towards the back of the boat with a pre-recorded commentary. We moved directly under it to hear the remaining cheesy, multilingual description which by this point just involved a little bit about the statue followed by a lot of talk about Governer's Island. Then the tour completed. Watching a boat tour video on youtube in our hotel room would have been more informative and probably more atmospheric. The experience smacked of neglect by the tour operator in every regard.

We did the 1 hour tour departing at 1pm. The boat left the dock at 12:45 which I found odd, what if you arrived at 12:50 you missed your tour! The tour lasted 1/2 hour? It was a beautiful sunny day and if you say it is an 1 hour tour then it should have went down river a bit and gave the hour on the boat. All in all, fine for the cost.

Its was fun.. waiting in line for awhile, but it moved quickly.. Several noisy kids, so couldnt hear some of what was being said, but being able to get clear pictures of certain things was a plus!!! I come every summer, and this is the first time I did this. Would do it again.

Great tour. This was my thrid tour and I liked how close we were to Lady Liberty. I would recommend this tour to others, however it is crowded and you do have to stand to have a space.
