Oslo Combo Tour: Grand City Tour and Oslo Fjord Cruise

Oslo, Norway

Combine top Oslo attractions with Oslo Fjord’s tranquil scenery on a 7-hour combo experience that comprises a city tour and sightseeing cruise! Spend five hours exploring the city by coach, enjoying visits to Vigeland Park and the Holmenkollen Ski Jump (photo stop only) and touring Oslo’s famous museums: the Open Air Museum and either the Polarship Fram Museum or the Kon-Tiki Museum (your choice). Take to the waters of Oslo Fjord and see pretty islands dotted around the coast while learning of their history from an onboard guide.

Meet your guide at Oslo City Hall, and then hop aboard your coach for your city tour. Relax as you travel and listen to your guide explaining Oslo’s culture and sights. Your first stop is Vigeland Park, home to a world-renowned collection of sculptures by the beloved Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Walk around the bronze and granite sculptures, and then continue to the famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump that was used during the 1952 winter Olympics. Enjoy roughly 20 minutes of free time to ogle the dramatic city vistas from the hill-top jump and take as many photos as you like.

Travel onward to Bygdøy Peninsula, a rural city neighborhood where many of Oslo’s top attractions are found. Take a tour of the Open Air Museum; Norway's largest museum of cultural history and one of the oldest open air museums in the world, featuring among others, an iconic, world-famous stave church built in the 1200s.

Enjoy your choice between a visit to the Fram Museum or the Kon-Tiki Museum. At the Fram Museum, see the polar ship Fram, a wooden vessel that traveled along the Arctic Sea in the late 1800s. Take a tour of the powerful schooner — the first boat to reach the South Pole — and learn about life at sea in the harsh polar conditions. After touring the museum, take some free time to browse the exhibits and artifacts.

Alternatively, you can visit the Kon-Tiki Museum. The museum is named after the raft that Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed on between Peru and Polynesia; see it and other boats such as the equally impressive Ra II. Hear tales of Heyerdahl’s intrepid expeditions from your guide, and then return to your coach to finish with a drop-off back at Oslo City Hall.

After your visit to either the Fram Museum or Kon-Tiki Museum, return to the start point where your city tour finishes. Your guide will then take you on a 5-minute walk to the pier, where you will board your sightseeing cruise boat. Admire the sights of the fjord from the water, passing alongside idyllic bays while listening to your guide talk about Oslo Fjord. Take a seat in the covered area of the boat, or bask in the sunshine if the weather is warm. The city’s scenic gem, the fjord is home to a number of islands that each boast individual landmarks and history. Hear of the kayaking, canoeing and fishing that takes place around Oslo Fjord, and see vacation homes dotted around the islands.

Having enjoyed two hours of cruising around the waters of Oslo, return to the start point near Oslo City Hall and step back onto dry land where your combo tour finishes.

To tell the truth, not much to see in Oslo. But being there and using hmk tours should not automatically mean having to run all the time, having only 20 to 40 minutes stood and certainly not if you get lost during the tour because you try to browse a little more or would like to escape from the group, being left abandoned at the stop you decided not to follow the rigid instructions given by their tour guide. This is very rude from hmk and did spoil our day. The last part of the tour, the fjord cruise is interesting and not operated by the same company, so even included in this package, could be done on your own time and accord very easyly.so to sum things up, no guided tour of the ski jump and no time to take the lift up, kind of running guided tour at viegeland statue park for 45 minutes, then very quick introduction to the flam museum, and then whats left of thirty to forty five minutes visit then quick introduction to the Viking museum and again whats left of the allocated time, then heading to the close to 2 hours fjord cruise of Oslo fjord boarding help and then the guide vanishes and no guide available when returning to direct people and give me their bearings all a bit pushy and sometimes rude

We loved this tour. It gave us a chance to see a lot of Oslo and ended up with a great boat tour on the Fjord. We would definitely recommend doing this for the day if you want to see a lot.

Disappointing, very little about Vikings. The only really enjoyable event was the Olympic Ski Jump

This tour was well worth doing. We loved seeing the skyline at night. A great way to start our visit to the big Apple.

My friend and I were left up on the mountain by the ski jump. We were told to return to the bus at 12:05 pm-we returned when the noon bells were ringing. Our bus was gone and the parking lot was empty except for 1 bus for a different tour. That tour was kind enough to take us with them down to the city. It is totally inappropriate to leave people on your tour and especially up on an isolated site. namely the mountain top.

The tour guide, Helene, was great. However, we did not like it that they did NOT include the Viking Ship museum even though it was listed on the tour. At the last minute, we got an email that it was not being included. We were told that the museum was asking tours not to go there due to too many peoples presence could damage the ships. HOWEVER, when we went to the museum on our own, there were many, many tours there. This was one of the highlights of the tour so make sure it is included in ANY tour you take.

This tour is a good overview of Oslo by bus and by boat. We visited the major sites in the city first including the ski jump, the Fram museum and the sculpture park. I chose not to go into the park because of the warning of more than 100 steps but that was my decision. The two hour boat ride was a little cold but still enjoyable. It almost rained and the crew was preparing to put up the cover on the boat but then the threat evaporated. The only thing I would have changed is to have hotel pickup. The return from the harbor was okay because there were many food trucks available to choose from. I chose fish and chips which was very good and fresh. The tour provided a very good overview of the city with lots of information provided by the tour guide not just about what we would see but also about life in Norway in general. For a first time visitor with limited time this is the tour to choose. Lots to see and enough time to enjoy seeing it.

This tour would have been a lot better if it had been longer. At the Fram museum we were only given about 20 minutes to look around, and at the open air museum people were looking inside the little houses and then literally sprinting to catch up with the tour guide, since they didn't give us any time to look around. The entire tour lasted from 10:30 to 5:30 and there was no time given for lunch. There was a little cafe at the ski jump and at the Fram museum, but ordering something from either cafe would have taken up all of our time at that site. If this tour started at 9:30 instead of 10:30, giving a half hour for lunch and 15 minutes extra at each of the two museums, it would easily be a five star tour - because other than the time crunch, it was a great day!

This is a great way to see Oslo in one day. Our guide I didn't catch her name was very knowledgeable, responsive to questions, and efficient in conducting us around. The tour goes to many of the important sights, including the Holmenkolen ski jump which was more impressive than I thought it would be, the ship museums we opted for the polar ice breaker Fram, and the open air cultural museum, and a walk through Frogner park to see the amazing Vigeland sculptures. Our tour included the Oslo fjord cruise as well, which was an enjoyable way to see Norwegian nature and water, after having spent 4 1/2 hours seeing the sights on the bus tour. This tour will allow you to see most of the sights of Oslo, with the exception of the Viking ship museum, and the National Gallery for the Munch paintings.

Great tour giving an insight into various markets and food across Stockholm. Our guide was informative about the city as well and we covered a fair portion of the city's main sights whilst walking between food venues. One tip only have a light breakfast as there are lots of samples included.

Wonderful experience, you almost need the bus ride to reach the Holmenkollen ski jump and Vigeland Park. Ending with a cruise of the fjord was restful and beautiful.

This is a good overview tour of Oslo if you only have a short time. I would have appreciated more time at some of the venues as it felt rushed. The large bus group made it difficult to maneuver in some museums and to hear the information given by the guide.

This tour was very informative. We love our guide. We made a mistake by adding the Fjord Cruise. It was very windy, cold and not much to see. I would stop the tour before going on the Fjord Cruise.

We travelled to Vigeland Park which has a vast number of bronze sculptures. The photos that are always shown do not give justice to the Park and the sculptures. Really worth the trouble to see. We saw the Ski Slope when there was no snow so you could gauge the height of the slopes but it was not as good as snow. We had a choice of one of two museums, the Polarship Fram Museum or Thor Heyerdahl. We were the only ones on the coach to chose Thor Heyerdahl because we were interested in the Kon Tiki raft. We were _br/_ not disappointed, really fascinating. There only a small burger bar outside the site so you might want to take some sandwiches for lunch. The trip around the Fjords was good to say you had been but it became a little laborious after a while, two hours sailing roughly in a circle around the fjords. i would have paid for the trip to Rigeland Park and the Kon Tiki Museum

The bus tour in the morning and early afternoon was excellent. The sites visited were very well selected, and the guide was good._br/_ The second part of the tour was the boat tour of the harbour and fjord. The boat we were on was terrible - and not suitable for the weather in Oslo. It was an old style wooden sailboat, open air - and with wet and windy, rough weather it was not pleasant.

We have nice guide. Her english was perfect. Only we had weather problem when we were traveling for fjord. It must be better boat for that because weather was cold

Review by:   Hasnah A,    April 2017 Review: 4 star rating: Recommended
It was snowing and raining the whole day, hence, it was a bit inconvenience. We are lucky we bought this tour, otherwise it will be more difficult to cover that many places of interest in just a day. The tour started at the bus stop near The City Hall where we met the lady guide and boarded the double decker bus. Our first stop was the Holmenkollen Ski jump when the snow started falling heavily. Next was the Vigeland Park and the falling snow changed to rain. The bus did not provide any umbrella, so we walked around the park in the rain. Next were the Viking Ship and Polarship Fram museums stops, which was very educational. The last 2 hours was the sightseeing cruise around Oslo fjord. We had our sandwich lunch and hot coffee in deck the cruise ship. The cruise was awesome admiring the fjord and bays, the bath houses and the beautiful islands, however, it was a bit cold due to the rain._br/_ If you have very short stay in Oslo, this tour is highly recommended.

The trip provides a great overview of the city. You see all of the major sights._br/_ A wonderful and affordable journey. Highly recommend._br/_ Some people left the tour and didn't stay for the cruise. Think that if you do this you will miss a wonderful experience. City takes on a different beauty when seen from the water. LOvely countryside especially the islands and the houses with their tiny but colorful boat houses next to the shoreline.

Going on our own would have let us take as much time as we needed at each place. Cruise was pleasant, but I would trade the time for more in the musems.

We rescheduled this trip to July 31st. We were almost left behind at the viking museum when the bus left earlier than the meet up time. The only reason we weren't left behind was because i ran after the bus as it was driving down the street. The tour guide did not even apologize for leaving early. If they had left us behind it would have ruined our trip, we had left items on the bus and were nowhere near our hotel. We then emailed the tour company to complain and they wouldn't respond. We were very disappointing.

I was on a very short trip to Oslo for only 2 days so this was the best way to look at most of the tourist places in short amount of time. I thought the time allotted for each destination was very limited. In fact the Viking ship museum should have less time and more time should be given to the Sculpture park. We missed the bus at Sculpture park by 5 minutes and had to take a Taxi to the Viking Museum to join back with the group. Overall experience was great.

In Margaret we had an experienced and engaging guide, providing the relevance to what we were seeing as we took the tour. Particularly liked the stop-off points - The works of Vigeland in the Vigland Park, which Margaret's explanations made come to life. The detail that Margaret added to the Viking ship and Fram stops was fascinating she as the tour guide is part of the experience and you will be lucky to have her. The Olso fjord is not in the same category as the grand Fjords but rounds the day off nicely - so I do recommend including it. _br/_ One negative comment plan or bring FOOD and WATER the sheer volume of content on this tour leave little to miss, but you will be going from 10am to perhaps 6 or 7 the stops are short and you will not want to waste time on refreshment - so I advise packing something to eat or at least keep you going on the Bus. There is food sold on the cruise part, but by that point it is quite late in the day.
