Oslo Shore Excursion: City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Tour
Oslo, Norway
No matter what cruise ship you arrive on, this is the perfect do-it-yourself shore excursion in Oslo. Explore the sunniest capital in Scandinavia with this one day ticket aboard this City Sightseeing open-top double-decker bus. See the main sights of Oslo as you hop on and hop off 17 conveniently located stops around the city.
With great views from the top of the bus, strategically placed stops and an interesting commentary, this truly is the best way to see the sights of Oslo.
You can hop on and off as many times as you like aboard this City Sightseeing open-top, double-decker bus. There are 17 stops, and the entire route takes approximately 90 minutes. The bus departs every 30 minutes from each stop. Tickets are valid for 24 hours.
Oslo, the oldest and sunniest of the Scandinavian capitals, was founded by Harald Hadrade in the 11th century and is surrounded by mountains at the head of a 70-mile (100 kilometer) fjord. You can visit Akershus Fortress, or feel like a real Viking at the Viking Ship Museum.
This excursion is located within a 10-minute walk to the cruise port, so you determine the time you return to your ship in Oslo. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the excursion and ensure your timely return to the port. This excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy
The bus tour in Oslo was good and informative. It enabled my wife and I to see the main points of interest in Oslo within the limited timescale allowed by our cruise ship visit. The bus was literally feet from the ship and brought us back to the same spot in plenty of time. If anyone is going to Oslo in 2018 there are a lot of road works in the city centre which make the bus journey a little tortuous but nonetheless the tour is recommended. There was only time for one real stop off as we only had 4 hours in total to be safe. We opted for the Viking ship museum which was first class. If we had had another 2 hours the other museums are within short walking of this museum and we would have hit them all in turn. The only negative I can mention was the rather angry demeanour of the Bus Conductor who was quite rude to many guests who had not pre booked and who could have marred the experience for some. Otherwise I WOULD GIVE THIS EXCURSION A 5 SATR RATING

Worked very well as a shore excursion from the ship. They picked us up right at the ship and dropped us off nearby. Very convenient and an easy way to see the city!

Overall good experience. Satisfied except the cost was lower if we were to buy the bus ticket there.

This was a good way to get to the main points of interest in Oslo, the audio provided is OK, not great but helpful.

We got on the bus and then realized that two of the speakers were not working - the bus was full so we could not change seats. We told a staff member that the audio was not working, but they did not do anything about it, not even apologize. So, we missed teh commentary for at least the first 8 - 10 stops

The bus(s) were frequent and plenty of them. We were able to get around the city and see all the sites outside the city that would not be accessible with a walking tour. The narration was also clear and informative. We recommend this option for a good overview of the city.

Booked as part of a cruise ship port day. Good option to see the city highlights with the freedom to spend time spent at each location

Good city with hop-on and hop-off bus is adequate.

I have taken a number of hop on hop off tours and realize that I find it difficult to concentrate on the materials offered. People are talking, arriving,. leaving --- and it is all too much of a distraction for me. The concept is great and Oslo is as good as any of the others but it is my ability to block out distractions that is bothersome. I will find another way of seeing cities I visit.

Saw everything we wanted to see and information was very useful. Lots better than a tour who talk all the time!

Stopped right at the Viking museum and didn't have to wait long at all
Review by: evelyn, July 2016
The buses were always full. We had to wait for several buses and took much or our time. I would have preferred a guided tour.

Location of bus stops was excellent, close to the port and key points of interests_br/_ Allow us to browse around key places with good amount of time and the drivers are friendly and helpful_br/_ Very impressive views at Vigeland Scrupture Park and Akershus Castle

Using the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus service is probably the best way to see and discover any City. The Oslo experience is no exception. My tip is and always has been, to do a complete circle first, noting the particular places of intrigue/interest and then do the Hop-On Hop-Off bit. One confusing situation is that most Cities have more than one Company providing this service and all of them have turned the initiative into an art form by adding different coloured Tours which sometimes cross-over into their other Tours - so you need to be careful that your plans don't mix with other Company's!!_br/_ Another consideration is that whilst the average length of a round trip may be advised as 1.5 hours, it is more likely to be 2hours, also the frequency, often advised by driver and/or brochure as 15-20 mins couldn't be further from the truth! More like 30 -50 mins. Everything is dependent upon the flow of traffic - as it does anywhere in the World._br/_ Apart from the above considerations all went.

The driver did not announce the stops and he was a very herky-jerky driver.
Review by: didi50, May 2016
There were many buses at the stop near the cruise port and we were rapidly on our way. We appreciated the info available in French.

Another excellent stop for us with this tour something we would highly recommend!

We rode on four separate buses. On two, the sound through the headsets worked fine. On the other two, nobody could hear anything but occasional news. You did not have to wait long for the buses and they were quite comfortable.

Had trouble with wifi on first bus but then got on another bus and all went well. Taking the hop on hop off bus is well worth what you get.

Beautiful city. Unfortunately we had heavy rain on the day we visited. However plan to return and will take this tour again
Review by: Jill F, May 2015
We were on a cruise with limited time in the city. They picked us up at the pier and took us to the sights we wanted to see.
Review by: Collette G, May 2015
Easy port pick up. The bus stops right next to the ship and the Castle. Oslo is spotless, beautiful. We would love to go again. We wanted to visit the Viking museum and it was really good. Amazing how these boats were able to go as far overseas as they did, the Vikings must have been an amazing race of people. We didn't want to venture too far and so this tour was idea for us, obviously didn't inherit many Viking genes ! _br/_
The guides are the usual tour bus multi lingual headphones and provide more than enough info. Book it, save your feet for the climb up to the castle.

It was okay, but as we were traveling by cruise ship and there was lots of traffic because it was a bank holiday, we did not feel that we could do the circuit again to see two other areas we were interested in. We did go to 2 very interesting museums, Modern Art and Architecture, that were free on Sundays. We also went to a fort close by. We were actually able to walk back to our ship.

We were in Oslo one day on a Princess Baltic cruise and pre-purchased/printed the vouchers on VIator. The ship docked at Akershus Castle and we walked off the ship and right onto the Hop on Hop Off bus. There were a LOT of passengers doing the same; however, there were adequate buses available. This tour allowed us to hit the highlights of the city with minimum fuss and bother and at a very reasonable cost (1/2 of what the ship was charging for shore excursions). The buses were convenient and timely. The stops are positioned perfectly to jump off and right into the museums with minimal walking. I would rate it 5 stars; however, a couple of the buses we caught did not have the audio portion of the tour running.

We thoroughly enjoyed te hop on hop off bus. First we rode the bus to see what and where the exhibits were and then went back to see them.
