This introductory kiteboarding package includes roughly 2 hours of instruction on land with one instructor and a small group. During this lesson, you will learn about the equipment required and how to properly use it. You will get to fly a trainer kite and complete a series of exercises that will prepare you for in water training. Your instructor will also set up a control bar simulator to show how the kite is controlled and how to quickly activate your safety systems. Students who choose to continue their lessons in the water can book with the instructor any time.
Your 2-hour introductory kiteboarding lesson will start with an overview of the equipment used, how it works and how to use the safety systems properly. Your instructor will cover the basic theory behind kiteboarding and give you the basic knoweldge required to be successful.
Prior to your lesson, you will be contacted by the instructor to confirm that the conditions are suitable and what location will be used. Transportation is not included and you must arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson start time.
Depending on the current conditions, your instructor will typically use one of two locations. Lebreton Flats and Carlington Park are both located within the city and provide good conditions for most wind directions. Lebreton Flats (across from the War Museum) is the primary location and is close to bus stops and the downtown core.
Kiteboarding lessons are significantly affected by the weather conditions. Your instructor will keep in close contact with you and let you know if the conditions are suitable for your scheduled time. If conditions are not suitable, your instructor can easily make changes or cancellations to accommodate your schedule.
