Gatun Lake and Monkey Island Sightseeing Cruise from Panama City
Panama City, Panama
Join an exciting half-day eco journey along the Panama Canal and experience some of Panama's secret sights and sounds. You'll hop aboard a high-speed motorboat and marvel at the breathtaking flora and fauna surrounding Gatun Lake. Enjoy stops at Monkey Island and Sounds of Silence Island!
You'll be picked up at your Panama City hotel and driven to Gamboa, where you'll meet your naturalist guide. First, you'll travel via a high-speed motorboat along the Panama Canal, navigating through ancient routes that once crossed the isthmus long before the creation of the lakes. You may come close to some of the large ships that transit the canal daily.
After turning the engine off, you'll slowly cruise along the forested banks of Gatun Lake and head towards Monkey Island. A protected area and your first stop on the tour, Monkey Island boasts an incredible amount of wildlife. Stay on the lookout for capuchin monkeys, three-toed sloths, howler monkeys and various kinds of toucans.
You'll then jump back on the boat and head to an even more remote location, Sounds of Silence Island. Here, you'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy a picnic. You may also explore on your own while kayaking, swimming and fishing. If you prefer, just relax on the island and sip a cool drink while taking in the beauty of the area before returning to your Panama City hotel.
Easy going, great natural scenery, easy going tour

Tour description and what happened are quite different. The boat ride was very short, less than an hour. There was no disembarking the boat, no kayaking, nothing but a very short boat ride. We then went to a nature preserve which was a poor excuse for a zoo. We were given a stale sandwich and a drink to picnic with. The most expensive tour that we took and most disappointing.

We had a good guide for the two of us. Good experience all around: three types of monkeys and a young crocodile were special to see.

Our guide was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. And that he went out of his way to make us feel welcome in his country.

The tour guide on this was wonderful a young man whom wanted to share his vast knowledge with us on the lakes and canal. Unfortunately when we got to the Island we were going to kayak but the equipment was locked away and no key! My son was eagerly awaiting the secret WW2 US communications center on one of the islands but this has been taken off the tour due to the widening of the canal.

Our Monkey Island Cruise was spectacular. We saw monkeys, lizards, baby crocodiles, and a variety of birds. So glad we did this cruise.

Excellent family tour. Tour leader was terrific as was the boat captain. Highlight was definitely getting to feed the monkeys on Monkey Island._br/_
