Travel at a relaxed pace along the scenic north coast of Trinidad, making several stops for bathing and admiring the views, on this 8-hour guided tour from port of Spain. Soak up panoramic views of the ocean; stop for a photo opportunity at the Maracas Lookout, and swim in Las Cuevas and Maracas.
The day begins with a 9am pickup from selected hotels in Port of Spain. Meet your guide, climb aboard the vehicle, and head out on the road. A visit to Trinidad's coast offers one of the Caribbean's most scenic coastal drives as well as the opportunity to swim in the cool waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Travel up to the scenic north coast road to admire the view of the Paramin hills to the west with their plantations of herbs and spices. And to the east, look out at the thick rainforest. Upon reaching the Caribbean Sea, take in a panoramic view of the ocean. A short stop at the Maracas Lookout gives you the opportunity for some pictures of the surrounding bays and maybe even to hear a little improvised Calypso music.
The most popular beach in Trinidad, Maracas Bay, is surrounded by lush, green rainforest-covered mountains, with a sandy beach lined with coconut trees. This unspoiled Caribbean scenery is free of high-rise hotels and practically untouched by tourism. Sample the locals' favorite, a hot crispy fish sandwich with homemade bread (not included in tour price). There are many different sauces from which you can choose, just be aware of the very hot pepper. Basic dressing rooms with changing and toilet facilities are available.
The next stop is at Las Cuevas Bay, which has a mile-long beach and calm waters, excellent for a walk and a cool swim. Continue on to Blanchisseuse where a refreshing river bath can be taken in the Marianne River’s beautiful natural lagoon.
Your tour concludes with a drop-off back in Port of Spain at around 5pm.
