Quebec City Historic Discoverers Cruise

Quebec City, Canada

See the city, the river and their history from a whole new angle on a Quebec City Historic Discoverers Cruise. Follow in the wake of a legendary explorer and discover for yourself the attractions of Old Quebec and the surrounding countryside aboard the AML Louis Jolliet or similar.

Discover the bucolic charm of Ile d'Orleans on this river cruise aboard the AML Louis Jolliet or a similar smaller boat, depending on the number of passengers.

Admire Montmorency Falls, the highest waterfall in Quebec, and see the port installations on both shores of the St Lawrence River. Glide beneath the prestigious Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, perched atop Cap Diamant, with the majestic Laurentian Mountains in the background.

On board, you can purchase a snack or meal with drinks, such as cocktails, to be enjoyed on the viewing decks (own expense).

Had high hopes for this cruise. Had hoped to see some interesting sights and good commentary. Didn’t get either. Narrator was a bit of a drone. Hesitated a lot trying to explain facts. Wasn’t very good in his narration. Very lack luster

This was our first exposure to Quebec and it was perfect! The costumed quide told us the history of Quebec and the various areas as we cruised by them. It was a great introduction to Quebec!!

Not a lot of point. The view of the falls is very distant, I wouldn't recommend this unless you want pictures of chateau Frontenac from the river. Boat and commentary fine, just a bit boring overall!

Fantastic way to hear about some historical and present information about Quebec. Great views, staff were all fantastic. Highly recommend if it is your first trip to this city!

It was OK we got to see the waterfalls...and that was the only highlight of the cruise. But it was a relaxing and sunny day.

The ship was nice, the crew was friendly, the narrator was informative and well presented. We were comfortable and there seemed to be a lot of good seating options. The cruise was decent, but I think everyone would have liked to get closer to the waterfall.

Pleasant but not much to see along the shoreline. Better to take a land tour.

Beautiful scenery. Lovely view of Montmorency Falls.

The tour on the St. Lawrence was very nice as well as informative. My only complaint is the cost of drinks...34.00 for a gin and tonic and a bourbon on the rocks. That's crazy! Five stars otherwise.

This was a very nice, relaxing and informative mini river cruise. The 90 minutes was just perfect on a clear beautiful day. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing I would ask would be to add more tall chairs on the upper deck so it's easier to see over the railing when you are seated.

The boat was very comfortable and clean. It had a little gift shop and staff who took orders and brought beverages to us on the decks. I wish we had come closer to Montmorency Falls, however, and that was the major thing we were wanting to see on the trip. It was interesting to hear about the adjacent communities to Quebec City while out on the St. Lawrence. I would recommend the trip to others, while cautioning to manage their expectations of how close they will come to the falls.

Very glad we took this cruise. It provided a beautiful perspective of Quebec from the St. Lawrence. The tour director was very knowledgeable and provided a terrific historical overview of the city and surrounding areas in both French and English. The only minor criticism is the pass by of Montmorency Falls was too brief. It gave too little time to take pictures but it did convince us to make a separate trip to the falls and enjoy it up close. That is a must while in Quebec.

excellent tour guide he provided tons of information , was charming helpful, easy to understand _br/_ a 5 star guide_br/_ boat was nice, drinks offered _br/_ but the actual sites we saw were not very interesting to me

The tour lasts 90 minutes but only because the ship is going so slow. The actual tour is less than 60 minutes and you have about 20 second to take a picture of the Falls between two pillars of the bridge. You don't get close at all. The guide was informative and entertaining and that's why I gave it 2 stars. If it weren't for him, it would have been a complete bust.

Lovely boat tour of Quebec City and surroundings. The tour guide has excellent English and was very helpful and informative. We will definitely bring family and friends for a tour, next time we visit. Merci Beaucoup! Amy and Dan Morris-Young, Anacortes, WA

The view of Quebec from the river was awesome. The most striking view was chateau Frontenac. Most imposing was the view of the waterfall. The guide was explaining the views in French and English. Unfortunately, he was talking continuously in a monotone voice _br/_ No enthusiasm.! It was difficult to follow and find on either side of the boat just what he exactly was talking about. _br/_ I did like his period costume!

It was pretty, but only really worth it for the views of the Chateau from the river. You don't get close enough to the waterfall to do it justice. I would say if you were only going to book one trip, book the Montmorency Falls trip. I learned much more on that trip.

This cruise is one of the better values in the Quebec City area. It is long enough to be worth the money and short enough to not disrupt your plans to visit other important interesting sites in the most beautiful city in North America. The lecture on the ship was informative and entertaining. Well worth the money. The ship is comfortable, boarding the ship is easy, parking is near the dock. I would highly recommend this tour.

We've been to Quebec many times but had never seen it from the river. This part of the St. Lawrence is both beautiful and historic, and the boat trip is definitely worthwhile. The narrative presented over the public address system was informative, the ship was, by and large, comfortable, and, in general, met our expectations. One small complaint: there was a single bar open, though the ship has at least three bars. While it was at best half full, one bar is inadequate to serve that number of people.

It was a peaceful tour of the harbor up to Montmorency Falls but because of the wind and water noise, it was impossible to hear what the narrator was saying. I love history and was disappointed that we missed so much of what he was saying.

The boat was lovely, as were the staff, but one side of the boat ours had sound problems, so we couldn't hear much of the narration._br/_ We did not know that our computer print out would not serve as a ticket, so we lost our place in line, but again, staff was very helpful and ran back and got the actual tickets for us. _br/_ I'd recommend it to anyone.

It's... ok. Not thrilling, not informational, just a boat short trip. The only beautiful thing to see is the Mont Morency Falls, but even that from afar. I would go straight in a Mont Morency tour instead of this one.

The tour was good. The narration was interesting and the weather was great (which helps). You don and #39;t really see much. You get a great view of Quebec from the water and you see Isl d and #39;Orleans (which is just an island) and the waterfall is beautiful but you don and #39;t get close to it. Still, good 90 min

The boat is a nice size and comfortable. The staff were excellent and very helpful with getting my mother on and off the boat, even loaning her a wheelchair for the duration of the trip and to get her around the corner to the restaurant.

Nice idea but a little boring. Depends on the level of activity you like I enjoyed the bike tour and food tour much more so really depends on personal preference.

Nice tour but unfortunately it was spoilt for me as I slipped on a wet foredeck raindrops, suffered shock and injured myself. Captain was caring and filled in an accident form. Seeing the Falls was the highlight and led me to going to them by bus next day.
