Gulfoss and Geysir Express Half-Day Trip from Reykjavik

Reykjavik, Iceland

Take an afternoon tour from Reykjavik to experience geysers, waterfalls and some of the most exciting natural phenomena Iceland has to offer. In just six hours you'll visit the country's best known historical sites and natural wonders perfect if your time in Iceland is limited.

You will visit Thingvellir, where the Icelandic parliament Alpingi was established in 930. It is here in this geologically unique place that the slowly diverging tectonic plates of America and Europe meet. In 2004 Thingvellir was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The tour also takes you to the famous Gullfoss waterfall, the spouting hot spring of Geysir and Strokkur. Continuing your journey to Hveragerdi, a small but beautiful horticultural town, you will see how geothermal energy has been harnessed for the unique greenhouse cultivation of all kinds of vegetables, exotic fruit and flowers.

We truly enjoyed this very interesting trip. Our guide was super, he gave us details on Iceland's history, geography, people, food, economy and you name it. Also, the driver Oppi was great. Unfortunately I can not remember the guide's name (starting with letter D), he is a true ambassador of the beautiful country of Iceland! (Our trip was on June 22).

Incredible!!! The Golden Circle is a must see in Iceland. You get to see how spectacular the Gullfoss waterfall is and the beautiful landscape of Iceland while riding in a very comfortable bus. Our tour guide was fabulous too! I highly recommend this tour.

This day tour seems like a long day but it goes by really fast. Only 3 stops were made but each one was very interesting the tour guide gave a lot of information about this beautiful country.

This was a great tour. We were hesitant to book an express tour because we were worried we wouldn't have enough time at the sites. This was not the case, we felt we had the perfect amount of time at each site!

This tour was awesome! The geysirs were super cool to watch and Gullfoss is HUGE! Get the Swiss Mocha in the little shop at Gullfoss, it's delicious.

This was a wonderful tour which we both enjoyed very much. However our tour guide let us down very badly on our return, we told her our drop off point was Stop 1, she said would Stop 2 be ok and we agreed. However an hour and a half later this lady and the bus driver had obviously decided they were not going to Stop 2 and without clear instruction we ourselves discovered we should have or should i say we were expected to get off at Stop 4. My husband went to the top of the bus to speak with her and she said we should have gotten off further back ?? at this point the bus came to a stop and we were told to get off, I said to her she she told us we were Stop 2 to which she replied no 4, this was not true as our actual pick up point was Stop 1. I asked her where we were, we were not familiar with the area ?? she answered by saying walk to the end of the street turn left and keep walking it was pouring sleet, we had no idea where we were going and I am an Invalid who choose these tours for the convenience of the drop off and pick up service. This was a disaster and there were at least 4 0ther people who also were told they were getting off at stop 2. This lady spoiled what was a really lovely day.

The Golden Circle Express Tour was perfect for us, as we wanted to see Pingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss Falls. It was also lovely watching the stunning snowy landscape going by on the Tour Bus.

Me and my boyfriend went on this trip and we had Darren and Stular who were the best tour guides we could ask for! Darren made the trip exciting and fun! Would recommend this tour as it doesn’t take up the whole day and you get just enough time at each location!

Great trip and the duration was just about right to see the fantastic sites and nature at its best._br/_ We definitely benefitted from having a guide who was very knowledgeable and informative but in a friendly and humerous way

I went on the 1pm slot and did not feel 1 hour stop at the Gullfoss waterfalls was enough, by the time you queue to get something to eat, visit the toilet and then race around to look and take photos and run back to the coach I was exhausted, at least 2 hours should be allotted to this beautiful place. By the time we got to see the Geysir's it was already dark and you couldn't see them! it would be sensible to have them lighted up when dark as electric is so cheap in Iceland so I kept being told. Again all the stop's need more time to experience and I would suggest if you are thinking of booking this to go much earlier like 9am.

This was an excellent excursion. The guide Swan was ever so informative and made the story he told interesting and entertaining._br/_ The service this team provided was exemplary especially as we had a guest in a wheel chair who they were very accomodation with. The site were awe inspiring just wrap up warm for the waterfall as the wind chill really dropped the temperature

We were picked up outside the hotel and taken to the tour company bus station..went inside to get ticket and very quick WC stop, then onto the small bus for our tour. They called it Golden Circle Express Tour. Roma was driver and guide...great stories, explanations, knowledge of Iceland geology, history, culture. Several stops..he went with us to give further explanations of the various features at the stops. I had time for hot lamb soup/stew at Gulfoss and hot tea at Geysir. The more adventurous tour members explored beyond the first feature at several stops, but they had to be quick. Even as early as our mid-May stay there were lots of people at the sites. At the end Roma delivered each participant to their various hotels.

The tour was fantastic and you get to see those post card-views you have been dreaming of. We had a very good guide who knew a lot about Iceland and the surroundings we passed. A fantastic tour, but perhaps it would have been nice to have just a little more time at each stop.

This half day tour would take you to the must see sights of Reykjavik. The guide Lorenzo was very good. If you lack time and want to see Reykjavik's best in a few hours then this tour is for you!

I really enjoyed the tour. Even the part that the coach fishtailed on an icy road and careered off the road down into a snowy field. Just made the trip a bit more exciting

Really enjoyed this tour, the weather was not particularly brilliant but still had an enjoyable half day and the young tour guide was very informative, even though the weather wasn't brilliant the scenery certainly made up for it..... have to say the tour went like clockwork including enough time to enjoy the stops and the very tasty and warming lamb soup.

Really enjoyed this trip. So glad we didn't book the full day as this was plenty of time. Pick up was 10.30am and arrived back in Reykjavik about 5.30pm. Only thing I'd change is where we got dropped off on the return to Reykjavik wasn't the same place we got picked up from so we had a 10/15 minute walk back to our apartment in the rain. Trip overall excellent, would recommend.

The tour took us to three different locations. The first was the location of a tectonic plate, the second was the Gulfoss Waterfall and the third were the Geysir and hotsprings. All of the views at these places were amazing. The Tour Guide knew what he was talking about and pointed out different sights while we were travelling between locations.

The tour may be 'Half Day' but it is full of geological wonders and introduces you the side of Iceland which is a Nature's Wonder. The guide was very knowledgeable and we returned more informed and amazed by the beautiful and wonderful country. The tour pick up was bang on time and we started off on time too. the bus was very comfortable and allowed excellent views through the large windows. The driver was an expert in driving on slippery and icy roads.

Good value, 6 hour tour. As it did not get light until 10am , an 11am start meant whole tour in daylight! February

The sights were amazing. However, time is very tight on this tour and you have VERY little time to get Even a snack. The tour guide (Dee-Dee) didn and #39;t inform us of this, or of the fact that you can and #39;t take any food or drink on board. The tour guide talks way too much rubbish and needs to cut this down.

We enjoyed the trip and the running dialog of Swan, our guide. The only complaint that we had was that the time at each stop was limited to 45 minutes which was not enough to even walk the entire trail around the waterfall.

Our tour guide was Tanya, a funny and entertaining lady. There was a good balance of tour information from Tanya and 'quiet time' for us, tourists, to enjoy the scenic views or rest time after each stop. Only down side was the constant rain and the lack of daylight by the time we reached our last stop, Gulfoss. Well, can't fight against Mother Nature. We would recommend opting for an earlier tour if you are heading here in winter. Overall it was a good tour.

A great way to see some of the sights and countryside without a huge investment in time or money. The information provided by the guide on the places we visited was fairly helpful, but there were times when quiet would have been more appreciated.
