Rio de Janeiro Soccer Match

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

If you love football, you won't want to miss the chance to see a soccer match in Rio de Janeiro! Come watch one of Brazil's passions and watch the best teams in Rio fight for the win. Accompanied by your guide, you'll feel the electric atmosphere of a Brazilian football match. It's an experience you'll never forget!

Rio's famous stadiums accommodate over 100,000 people and have been host to many championship games over the years, including the 1950 World Cup and Pele's last game.

From May through December, the Brazilian Championship will take place, in which 20 teams play against each other to determine the Country's best team.

General seating is individual and under cover, and your guide is always in attendance. Note that the schedule is subject to change without prior notice.

Nice stadium, and got to see a football game in Brazil. However the guide did little other than give us tickets and tell us where to meet afterwards for the price of the tour I expect there would be more. Whilst I don't speak Portuguese it seemed for most of the journey the driver and the tour guide use the word very loosely, seemed to be arguing about the best route to get the hotels, to the point that when we went past the Maracana she had forgotten to point it out until 5 minutes later.

The game was great and high energy, but the only reason I'm not rating it higher is because the food selection at the stadium wasn't impressive. Go Botofogo!

This was great! The game was intense and players were aggressive. The tour guide was very considerate of all his clients and spoke in both English and Portuguese. He also helped with buying beverages and snacks. I highly recommend this activity for those who like to watch soccer. We had amazing seats!

The match was amazing and to be in Maracana. There was no tour, the tourgide didnt say a word of the stadium or it's history, he seemed to be drunk and the were late.

I reached out to tour provider multiple times prior to game Day to confirm time, and pick up location. After waiting for email or telephone call from tour provider up until game Day, I decided to call the morning of game Day as I still had no confirmation. I was told unfortunately the game was not available for the Day that I had booked but if interested they would reschedule for another day. Unfortunately, I was scheduled on other activity's for the rest of my stay. I ended up taking a taxi to the game on my own and having to pay a premium on the ticket from a person on the side of the road(not the safest thing to do in Rio).

We had booked the tour for Sunday 19th October some time ago in readiness for a trip to Brazil which included 3 days in Rio._br/_ When we arrived at the hotel we were told to check back on the Saturday with regard to transfer times. A few hours later the rep told us that there was no football on the 19th and that the match was on the 18th ( when we had already booked other tours ). After much to-ing and fro-ing we had to change our other tours, losing out on seeing some of the great sites of Rio, in order to make it back in time for collection._br/_ I wonder if we hadn't been organised and chased the rep whether anyone would have told us in advance of the date?_br/_ No email from Viator or it's partners to advise of the changes was ever sent -

Ruiz was our guide, he introduced some background of this Derby match and record the attendance number to told us after the match, it was a pleasure experience. (Flamengo vs Botafogo)

Everything went smoothly. Jose gave us a little background on the way to the game (useful for someone like me who doesn't follow soccer.

Most terrible experience ever!!! Got an e-mail saying that we had to call a Brazilian number to confirm that we would be attending. I rang this number and she said that hotel pick up was 1.50pm and I made her call it out again to make sure and she said one, five, zero. Told me I would get a confirmation e-mail with the time which I never got.

Unfortunately the Maracana is closed at teh moment and will not open until late 2013 due to refurbishment. However, going to a Brazilian Footbal Match is an expereince not to be missed, including the pre-match beers! We also went too a second game, I can now say i have seen both seedorf and ronaldinho play!

This trip was very well organized and a good size group for a soccer match with a great guide. The pre-game drink with the locals seemed like you were really enjoying it as the locals do not just part of some tour group!

Good thing I am a soccer junkie, however, take a cab and buy a ticket at the Stadium!_br/_ Pick up was an hour late, ticket was only $15, seats were upper level. The game was electric and great but taking a taxi and purchasing ticket would have been better. Total tour was 7 hours from pick up to return!

Easy pick up at hotel in Copacabana. Fun ride to stadium for Botafogo vs. Vasco. Tour guide was informative and personable. They do play a game where you can put $10R in the pot, and some of this goes to the driver and guide, but they do not pressure you to play.

Really enjoyed the trip, little dissappointed the stadium wasn't full as we went to a local derby between Botafogo and Vasco, but still a great atmostphere in a nice new stadium.

The tour guide, driver and tour bus were all great. Our guide explained the recent games, scores and was knowledgeable of the teams and players. We stopped for drinks and snacks for a few, before the game and he stayed with us the whole time and helped us order. The game itself was fun but pretty empty stadium, not sure why. I would have loved to go during a more popular game, but this was the only match during my stay in Brazil. All in all, it was a great experience.

Con: Viator never confirmed my email request for a pick up, so I borrowed someone's phone to call locally. Pro: A van picked me up near my Ipanema location, excellent guide (a phychology female student) who explained in details about the teams, where are we traveling (north of Rio), how to behave in the stadium, and accompanied us to the seats in Engenhao stadium. The fans were great (crazy) and sometimes did not let see the game.

Not so much of a stadium tour... more just a trip to watch a soccer match - which was excellent despite there not being a massive crowd... would recommend to anyone and I'm not a football fan!

I give the tour 5 stars, it was one of the best experiences, as a lover of soccer we had the opportunity of experiencing a local derby match. The crowd and atmosphere was unreal, even though there was 80,000 people we always felt safe with our tour guide. Thank you Viator!!

The charge for this tour is about 65 dollars which at the time was 116 Real. The tickets you are given are 30 Real seats and subway to the match costs 5.6 round trip. You are essentially paying a ridiculous amount of money to be picked up in a van and wait for the driver and guide to pick everyone else up at their hotels which took an extra 2-3 hours because of the traffic and have someone tell you less information than what the wikipedia page says about the stadium. On the van ride, the 'guide' and driver let us bet on what we think the outcome of the match will be where they take a 30 cut if someone wins and if nobody predicts the score the 'house' the driver and guide just take all of the money. This amounts to very bad odds and just a way for them to steal money from you. The soccer match was good but the best way to experience it is to go yourself. We went to a popular match and there were still people purchasing seats 40 mins before kickoff. All in all, go see a game, don't do the tour.

Our tour guide was fun, informative and easy going. I would've preferred to see a more exciting match, rather than the 4,100 in attendance for the Fluminense vs. Macae game we saw. However, the experience was enjoyable.

The venue was fantastic. The atmosphere was great because we were able to see a semi-final tournament match between Botafogo and Flamengo. The cultural aspect of the stadium and the fan's energy is what I wanted to go there to see and they did not disappoint. We did the VIP Box and sat in air-conditioning with our own bathrooms and endless food and non-alcoholic drinks. If you want to have some adult beverages, make sure you knock them down before you go as no alcohol is sold within 1 km of the stadium. I would do it again, just make sure you have your hotel contact the local tour agency and confirm your time. Enjoy the game!

When I called the supplier to reconfirm, they did not know my name and that they were supposed to have a ticket for me. They asked me for a voucher number and provided the service anyway. I mentioned I had booked a VIP box, but was advised on pickup that there were only regular tickets, so I was sitting among regular fans - which was great ! I was reimbursed the price difference between VIP box and general admission tickets and I have no regrets at all.

Realy enjoyed the experience -Louis, our guide to the Maracana, was very helpful and informative, as were all their guides. Unfortunately we were supporting the local team and they lost!I felt very secure. We continued to use the company throughout our 2 week trip. These trips included Petropolis, Corcovada, Pao de Azucar, Samba night - BRILLIANT!!! Viator were very helpful as we had a tight schedule for our first trip and we were able to confirm online rather than on arrival. Really appreciate all your help.

We were picked up in time, but well in advance almost 3 hours before the game and wasted a lot of time at the stadium before the start of the game. Our tour guide was not well informed about the current teams standings, forced us to participate in score betting and did not give clear instructions where we were supposed to meet after the game.
