The tour was very nice and it was a long day from Playa del Carmen. Seeing Chichen Itza was amazing and we are so glad we scheduled it. Paul was very knowledgeable as were the driver and others that helped on the tour. Definitely worth it.

Great full day tour that takes in Il Kil and CHichen Itza. Ramon, Raul and the crew were great. Provided water and even umbrellas for guest comfort. Fed us well. My only regret was not having enough time to get to the Iglesia and Observatory at CHichen Itza... The guided portion of the tour went long, and while very informative and interesting, it meant that the hour for exploration turned into more like 40 min... Not enough time to get to the southern portion of the site. Also, a 10 min stop in Vallodolid for pictures of the cathedral and market would have been appreciated. In all, a day well spent.

The excursion itself was marvelous. The guides were entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend it to anyone. The only problem we had was in checking in for the trip. We were supposed to check in 24-48 hours in advance. The US phone number was not a working number. The Mexican number was eventually answered and they assured us that there would be someone at our hotel to tell us when and where to be picked up-there wasn't. Luckily we had received an email just before we left with a time, so we went to the lobby at that time with some concern as to whether the tour was on or not. We were picked up on time and from that point on it was wonderful. We cannot say enough nice things about the people, the tour, the lunch-all of it once we got started.

There was miscommunication regarding pick up but it ended up working out. Didnt realize there were going to be so many stops/pickups before we actually got to our destination. It made it a very long day.

We had a wonderful time at Chichen Itza. Norma was very knowledgeable and informative. The transportation from the hotel to the final big bus was very confusing. Our van driver gave us no information why we were stopping on the side of a busy highway. About 20 minutes later the big bus arrived and we were ushered on it. Apparently in Mexico this is standard procedure. It would have been nice to know that. Viator was worth the extra dollars for the extra things they provided such as an umbrella at the sight to block the sun, cool towels when we got back to the bus and a guide who spoke English clearly.

This was a really nice tour and the description was very accurate. We were picked up promptly at 8am from our hotel in a van, then taken to a waiting bus. The tour guide asked how many French speaking and English speaking passengers there were, then talked constantly, always alternating between French and English. I was in the back of the bus and could barely see him. After a while, I stopped listening, as he was switching between the 2 very quickly, and frankly, it was not relaxing. The information was not that interesting. After a 40 min shopping stop, we arrived at Chichen Itza about 11:30. Once there, another guide on the bus took the English speaking group. He was great. And from then on, everything was fine. The buffet was delicious. As you have already read, this is a 12 hour trip. But well worth it.

We almost nearly didn't get to go on the trip. The tour company asked us to confirm our booking with them twenty-four hours before the tour. We didn't think much of this as we assumed that we could use the hotel's wifi to confirm the booking and that would be it. However at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba there was no phone signal, and the wifi was quite frankly, terrible. We then had to get the hotel to ring the tour company and tell the tour rep to come and meet us, which meant waiting around in the lobby for the rep to arrive. However, it must be said the rep Gabi or Gaby was really nice and very clear about what we needed to bring and what time we would be getting picked up.

great tour with the great tour guides. They provide you with the water, corona beer, coffee, fresh bread from local bakeries, and they provide a great experience. I would highly recommend for anyone. If you speak Spanish or want to learn go with the Spanish guided tour its more smaller and more personal rather than the English one which is mostly about 20 people. I would also buy any items at the local shops in cancun or any other place the place the guides take you is a bit expensive and the places in Chichen Itza its also expensive.

Great tour, a very pleasant experience all around. Victor and his team made everything very easy, and he was incredibly informative. We learned a ton of great, interesting information that really made us appreciate what we were seeing. Everything was very punctual, and little things like having breakfast on the bus which was very good made things comfortable and pleasant. Bus was air conditioned and very comfortable. You stop to shop but it is only for 40 minutes so you don't spend long there, allowing you to get the full experience at Chichen Itza. One note, it is very hot at Chichen Itza and you are in the sun for most of the tour there so keep that in mind when thinking about dress / sunscreen. After Chichen Itza and lunch which was one of the best meals we had on the entire trip, you go to a sink hole that is really cool and is a lot of fun. Make sure to bring your bathing suit as we forgot ours and I slightly regret not going into the water. The total tour is 12-13 hours, so keep in mind when booking as it will take all day and you may want a more expedited tour. However, this tour was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a day seeing a bit more of Mexico than just the resort.

My family of 4, including 13-year-old twins, took this tour on July 28, 2015, and would highly recommend it to others. The tour operator, Cancun Passion, provided prompt pick-up at our resort and brought us to a central location to meet the coach. We were served coffee, juice, fruit and pastries, which made for a pleasant trip. We had a restroom/shopping stop for about 30 minutes prior to Chichen Itza, where we purchased some lovely crafts. Chichen Itza was amazing!! Our guide, Tony, provided excellent explanations of sites before we were given free time for pictures and lunch included in the price, aside from drinks. The history and sites are not to be missed!! We had an amazing cenote swim before heading back. This is a long day, but well worth it. The staff was professional and personable from start to finish. Tony taught us so much about Mayan history. This tour is highly recommended. Once again, I have had success in booking an excursion through viator!

I want to first acknowledge the local tour company who viator works with or who was at least the assigned local tour group. Evelyn was so accommodating and super nice. The email sent from Viator says to contact the local tour group 48 hours in advance. This, in my opinion, was not highlighted very well. We were also traveling on the 48 hour mark. So we did not contact them in time for our Monday tour. The company rescheduled us with no problem. Seeing the ruins is highly recommended. Our tour Cancun Passion was also fantastic. The guides Noe and Fernando were fabulous. Noe cares more about the history and is very knowledgeable. If you just want to take pictures you don't really need a guide. But it was really informative.

We enjoyed the trip. Our three guides (Raul was comical) were very knowledgeable. Our stops included to the deepest natural pool, a real Mayan village for lunch, and of course Chichen ItZa. The trip to Chichen Itza was long, but nothing that we didn't know up front. We would consider a closer historical visit (Tulum) to compare in the future

Great trip- the tour of the ruins was informative; it is only 3 hours (which seems like a lot until you realize how much actually there is to see) and it would have been nice to have some additional time to walk around on your own but it was really great. The lunch was good- definitely try to the corn ice cream. Swimming in the cenote was a highlight and fun; definitely a unique experience. Definitely recommend for any first timers to the region/looking for something interesting to do.

Highly recommend this tour! The sites are breathtaking, and the staff fantastic! Jesús, Samuel, José and Amado couldn't have taken better care of us or done more for us, and it's wonderful to get to see such a fascinating place as Chichén Itzá without having to worry about the logistics. It's a 12 hour day and make sure you bring your camera!

The tour guide gave us great and detailed information; he (Felipe) was pleasant, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The tour was well organized and kept to the schedule very well. The bus was very comfortable. It would have been nice to have literature or handouts to read later at one's leisure. There was a lot of information to take in! I wish I had known ahead of time that there would be shopping opportunities at both the buffet restaurant and the cenote, and would have preferred more time for browsing and shopping. The meal was interesting but again, would have like more information about the authenticity of the the various foods. The tour certainly piqued my interest to visit my local library to read up on the Mayan history. I found that the day was rather long because of the intense heat. I do not regret taking this tour and would recommend it to family and friends.

Quite a lovely trip overall. Travel accommodations (tour buses, etc.) were nicely apportioned. The guides, steward, and driver were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Luncheon was delicious. Very nicely organized; however, the trip went longer than planned. The drop off process was rather drawn out.

Saw a few ruins through a tunnel of jungle trees, turned a corner and my jaw dropped, the most amazing pyramid beautifully preserved you have seen, the definition of awesome. Take an umbrella if you go its a frying pan on the site. Didn't get as thorough a tour as I would have liked Fillipe our guide gave us quite a bit of info on the site but had a penchant for giving us his view of Mexican politics/gossip instead of fact about the site so we ran out of time to see some of the most important buildings. Also the mayan pedlars on the site had some great wares that we never saw anywhere else but we were both not given time and strongly encouraged not to buy from them, instead we were taken to an rip off market near our restaurant. That being said the site will remain an amazing memory for the rest of my life.

Once again, Viator delivered a first class tour. The tour was fantastic, as were our guides. Not only were they knowledgeable, caring, and funny, but they were genuinely concerned about everyone's well being. The stops at Chichen Itza, the wonderful restaurant and market, and the beautiful cenote were all more than enjoyable! Eduardo, Victor, and the others are to be commended for a long to be remembered special day!

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Chichen Itza. The tour guide was phenomenal and very knowledgeable. However, my only complaint would be that the Viator website made absolutely no mention of a trip to a cenote being included in the price of the tour and that participants should bring a bathing suit. Had I known this, I would have brought my suit and been able to partake in this fabulous activity.

The shuttle picked us up on time and we drove for probably about 1 1/2 hours, picking up other passengers, before transferring to a very nice, new, tour bus that included a bathroom, happily, since it was needed at that time and the transfer to the bus took place at the side of a highway, not a resort or whatever that would have a bathroom. Tour guides on the bus were very professional and friendly and served us coffee, juice and breakfast pastries. It was perhaps another hour before we arrived at Chichen Itza. We had driven through rain and although the sky had cleared, we were offered umbrellas in case the rain returned. Our tour guide, Josue, was extremely knowledgeable and informative. So many great stories! It was thrilling to stand in the stone court where ancient Mayans had played their ball game. So many great sights! We were advised not to buy souveniers inside the gate as the quality of the silver, etc. was not reliable and the vendors lie about it. They'll say 'One dollar' to draw you in and then after you make your choice, they say it is 'One dollar OFF.' so beware. Bring your bug spray. Lunch, which was included in the price, was buffet-style but pretty good after adding habanero to spice it up. It was intentionally blanded-down for the masses. You pay for drinks but they were good. There's time for shopping after lunch at the approved store on the grounds. We then stopped at the cenote but by then it was thundering and raining and we chose to pass the hour in the bar a few steps from it instead of making ourselves human lightening rods. The people who DID swim said it was fantastic, with the blind fish bumping into them as they swam. There are lockers for $3 and towels for rent. There was beer, soda and water for the ride home which included a 'snoring contest', as by that time, you will likely be tired from all of the walking and the heat and will welcome passing the time with a nap. An incredible experience and wonderful tour!

Spent 2 hrs collecting passengers, too long. When I boarded the bus the host was rude and offered stale pastries. Thankfully he didn't take us around Chichen Itza but Toni was amazing in his passion and knowledge! Lunch was delish but at 2:30 was along time since breakfast. Cenote was lovely.

Picked up at 8.45am from Akumal taking the last seats on the coach for the 2hr trip. Had juice, croissants, fruit and coffee on the journey. Were given plenty of warnings about the heat and had free water and umbrella for sun. Yes it was hot and humid but not unbearable. Entrance was busy but once through there is so much space to keep away from other groups. Our guide was excellent but did talk too long and we ended up not having any free time to explore ourselves. Missed a few of the sights. Met half way round with cold water. There are plenty of souvenir stalls which seemed reasonably priced despite the guide telling us not to buy from there. Lots to see so get a move on to see it all. Ice cold Coronas back on the coach were well received. Lunch was very good and we all had seconds, drinks are extra. There is a souvenir shop here which the guides wanted us to buy from. Prices were not too bad and there was no pressure but it was all certainly set up with the lunch stop. Then to the Cenote which was very busy. 30 pesos for a locker key, clean changing rooms and toilets. I think 94 slippery steps take you down to the pool which was very busy and got overcrowded after we arrived. Jumping off the high platform was exhilarating. Difficult to exit the water with so many people in front. Was a bit of a rush to get changed and back to the coach. Then a slow drive through the town of Valladolid which was not very exciting. Plenty beer on the return. Back at 7.00pm. Although this tour could be bought much cheaper in resort, the positive reviews swayed us. An excellent day, would have been happy to start earlier and have a little longer at the ruins and Cenote and miss out the town tour. Very well looked after by very friendly amusing staff. Driver was steady and we felt safe on the journey.

Very disappointed with this trip as the reality of it was not as advertised by Viator. We started our trip at 7.20am and didn't manage to get to C.Itza until 11am because of the numerous pick ups/switching of buses etc. We arrived and recevied an extensive tour of the site (very impressive) but our guide was insistant we kept to the schedule and actually lectured the group about stopping to take photos as we were delaying the schedule!!! Most disappointing was the 45 mins free time (as advertised at Chichen Itza), did not happen. We were whisked away to a restaurant and small overpriced store outside C Itza and left wonder around after lunch. Then there was the unscheduled stop in the Drop Pit for 45 mins or so which out of 30 or so people only 2 people swam in, the rest of us just hung around in the heat waiting for the bus driver to return so we could sit on the bus. We paid nearly EUR180.00 for this trip, Chichen Itza was great but overall it was so disappointing.

Excellent tour and a great way to see Chichen Itza. Wish though that we had spent less time at the mandatory toilet stop which happened to be a shop where they try to spruik goods to you and more at the site. Excellent guide though who was extremely informative. A pleasure.

A very well put together trip. We re-confirmed our booking locally in our BlueBay Esmeralda (Playa del Carmen) resort with the Olympus Tours rep who made the necessary phone calls to book our pickup with local excursion operators. Our transfer to the departure point was spot on time and made a couple of pickups at other hotels along the way.
