7-Day Sailing in the British Virgin Islands

Road Town, British Virgin Islands

Ever dream of sailing in Caribbean waters? Whether you're taking a flotilla holiday for the first time or you're an experienced sailor, island hopping in the British Virgin Islands is a holiday experience you can't beat. Set sail from Cooper Island and spend 1 week exploring an idyllic paradise on the sea. You'll visit secluded bays and hard-to-reach islets where you can snorkel, relax on the beach and absorb one amazing landscape after the next. Throw away your to-do list for a week and live this unforgettable Caribbean journey.

Your Caribbean adventure begins from Cooper Island. But remember, there are no direct flights to the British Virgin Islands, so to get there you must first fly to a larger connection hub, then take a direct flight or ferry ride to Cooper Island. The meeting point is Road Town, Tortola.

After boarding your yacht and meeting your crew and skipper, you'll be given a short briefing to learn more details about your journey. You'll then spend the rest of the day swimming, relaxing on the beach and admiring the view.

Leaving Cooper Island, you'll sail north to the beautiful island of Virgin Gorda. On the west end of Virgin Gorda is The Baths, a fascinating jumble of boulders, some of which form interesting caves to explore. If the weather is favorable, you can take the dinghy ashore and find numerous restaurants and fish taverns with fresh sea food.

Continue your sailing holiday by exploring the northern shore of Virgin Gorda and stopping at Marina Cay. Nestled among three larger islands – Great Camanoe, Scrub and Beed – Marina Cay is an unmatched gem of the Caribbean. Put on your comfy shoes and spend the day exploring the island, snorkeling or relaxing on the beach with a cocktail in one hand and a book in the other.

Next, feel the wind in your hair as you set sail from Marina Cay to Cane Garden Bay. Many consider this bay one of the prettiest on the island, with its fine white sand and lavish palms. A number of fun nightspots are located right on the beach or close to it, so you can spend the night dining, dancing and making new friends.

Your next destination will be Great Harbour, where you will stop to admire the idyllic beauty of Jost Van Dyke Island. Finally, the last day of your British Virgin Islands sailing holiday will take you to Norman Island and the popular anchorage known as The Bright. Home to the Norman Island caves of Treasure Point, this is a great location for snorkeling – and a perfect way to wrap up your unforgettable week in the Caribbean.
