Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour

San Diego, United States of America

The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through three of the four ecological habitats, all while seeing different types of marine life that inhabit one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in all of California. Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can take in breathtaking views from inside Emerald Cave in California's only north-facing cave wall. (Tours may not always enter Emerald Cave, depending safety of the conditions.) Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour. 1 voucher is valid for two people, to ride in a double kayak.

Participants start their adventure by coming to our brand new flagship store located at 2261 Avenida De La Playa, La Jolla, Ca, 92037. Once guests arrive, 30 minutes prior to their scheduled tour time, our friendly staff equips all participants with the proper safety gear. We have everything anyone would need to get ready: lockers, changing rooms, restrooms, etc. After everyone is properly outfitted, the tour heads down to the beautiful La Jolla Shores boat launch with their certified guide(s) for an in-depth safety/paddle instruction. (This tour is excellent for all ages and skill levels.)  1 vouchers is valid for two people, to ride in a double kayak.

After the instructional briefing our highly trained staff, help each participant into their kayaks and help push them past the surf. Throughout the tour, guides stop along the way providing insight into the four distinct micro-habitats while pointing out different types of flora and fauna that one may during the tour. Participants are likely to see a variety of fish, birds, harbor seals, California Sea Lions, a variety of dolphins, sea turtles and even whales depending on the time of year. In the summer months, participants may also witness the largest Leopard Shark aggregation in the world. Leopard Sharks are harmless bottom dwellers with the mouth the size of a quarter. Don't worry, they do not bite.

Towards the southern end of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, participants will witness amazing views of La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves. Our highly trained guides provide history on each cave, with the opportunity to enter La Jolla's most famous cave: Emerald Cave. Emerald Cave is nestled along California's only north-facing cave wall which allows a once in a life-time experience to see just how majestic La Jolla really is! (Tours may not always enter Emerald Cave, depending on the safety of the conditions.)

After enjoying the sea caves, the groups will head out and explore the giant kelp forest. The giant kelp forest is the equivalent of an underwater rain forest, filled with a variety of wildlife. If lucky, you may see harbor seals, sea lions or even dolphins pass through en route to the tranquil habitat. The tours last ninety minutes and are great for all ages and experience levels. Being able to swim is not required for this tour. We look forward to have you out on the water with us soon.

Everything about the tour was well-organized, timely and professional. The tour-guides had great energy and were informative about the landscape and areas along the tour. My boyfriend and I had both never been kayaking before so I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to keep up due to the physical requirements of the activity but I was pleasantly surprised at how the guides made it so you didn't completely burn out. There are short breaks at different points along the tour, which gives your arms a little break. We went on the earlier morning tour and were able to go near and around the caves as well as see a ton of sea lions hanging out on the rocks and swimming along side of our kayaks. This tour was the highlight of my trip to San Diego!

I highly recommend this tour for the active family. It was a definite highlight of our stay in San Diego. Our guides provided interesting facts about the area and were very passionate about their jobs and the importance of protecting our coastline.

What a WONDERFUL experience! Our guides were great, the sea cave was awesome, and paddling along on the kayak was an incredible workout!! NEXT time I go I'm not going to wear a cover up - all you need is a suit, waterproof case for your phone to take fun pics and water shoes. I felt a little uncomfortable leaving my NEW sandals on the beach but everyone found theirs when we returned. It was easy to bring a change of clothing and keep in their inexpensive lockers while we were out at sea. They also have rest rooms and changing rooms. Parking was free about 2 blocks away along the street in front of homes. I'll definitely be back with more company!

Weather problematic. high swells, high surf (not dangerous but challening). Caves too dangerous. Guides informative, helpful to inexperienced kayakers. Helped everyone out though the surf, which was very high for those of us used to flat water and no one tipped over. Felt very safe in group.

This was a great tour! I only give it a four because we were unable to go into the caves the day we went. It wasn't the tours fault, it was too windy to allow us to safely enter the caves. So if you are taking it ONLY to go into the caves, know that there is a chance you may not be able to if its windy or the water too choppy. The kayaking on the ocean was fun, even though we got tipped out trying to get past the waves! Its all part of the adventure! The company does offer wetsuits for rental, and there are also lockers for your things. Oh and You can also buy from their shop a thing to put your phone in that will protect it from getting wet and hang on a lanyard around your neck so that you can take the phone and take pictures! It worked very well! The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly too, my favorite part was the surfing in on a wave in to the beach on the kayak at the end of the tour!

This was such an adventure. The tour guides were so great -- both entertaining and safety conscious. You get an up-close look at the sea lions on the cliffs and going inside the cave was incredible! This tour does require a lot of physical exertion, so be ready for that. I would definitely recommend this tour!

My family booked this tour in July 2016. We had a great time! It is not strenuous or difficult even for those who never kayaked before. The company is Everyday California in La Jolla and the guides were fantastic! They also gave a lot of information about the local area. _br/_ Upon registration, they offer rentals of wet suits/wet shirts and they will tell you the water is freezing. We bought into it, and rented the wet shirts. You do not need one in July! We were too hot and the shirts smelled awful! The water was refreshing in the hot sun and you really don't get wet at all other than a wave splash or two when you push out. We were advised to book early tours as the water is calmer in the morning and you are more likely to be able to go into the cave. Afternoon waters get choppy and they will not take you near the caves if it is rough. We went at 9:30 a.m. and it was perfect! You are in a two person kayak, even though Viator booking says you will get single kayaks. They only offer doubles for the tour, which was fine for a family of 4. I advise to call Everyday California and talk to them. They were very helpful and answered all of my questions before the trip! Awesome experience!

My 10 yr old daughter who has very little experience in the ocean went with me, and she was a bit apprehensive about going. Marcus and Rachel helped get us past the waves and out on the ocean. They were also both very fun and had great attitudes. We were able to go into the La Jolla sea caves for a pretty brief, albeit cool, glimpse inside. Overall, they were awesome tour guides!

Lots of fun. Saw people complaining about losing locker keys. Girl at front was pushing all the merchandise.
