Alcatraz was awesome that part deserves a 5 star, I wish we could have had another 30 mins or so, it was busy and we felt rushed. The ride out to Muir Woods was boring, no commentary along the way, we only had 45 mins there, which was probably about right, the trees are beautiful but the little walk only takes a few mins and it only takes so long to see al the giant trees. It was nice though. Now for Sausalito portion-I can now say I've been there. There wasn't much to see or do given that you only have about 30 mins to see it, it's pretty there but it wasn't really worth the trip, other than getting to cross the golden gate bridge.

We had a great time, but it was quite disorganized. When we booked this tour, the web site stated this tour included hotel pick up. I see that this is now changed on the web site, and it had changed when we arrived for our tour. We had to provide our own transportation to the pier for the Alcatraz portion, and then provide our own transportation to the Gray Line office near Union Square for the afternoon part of the tour. This part of the day was very confusing, as we were told three different things by three different Gray Line employees. The first person told us to be at the Union Square office by 1:30, the second person told us to be at the Gray Line office near Fisherman's Wharf by 1:00, and the third person told us to be at the office by Union Square by 2:15. Despite this, we had a good day. The Alcatraz portion of the tour is amazing, and Muir Woods is beautiful. Our tour guide, Tony, was entertaining.

The tours were very good. The guides, rangers, etc were knowledgeable and provided good information regarding their tours._br/_ We especially liked the Alcatraz Tour. However, when we booked online we were given some different info regarding getting our tickets and getting to and from Alcatraz. We thought Viator would have our tickets available to us and would take us to the place to meet our Muir Woods tour. We were originally told Viator would pick us and at our hotel. Later, we were told we would need to find our way to Fisherman's wharf ahead of time, get our vouchers with our tour time. Then on the day of the tour we had to meet at a different Pier, get in line and get our tickets for the tour. Then after the Alcatraz tour we had to make our way to a pier, catch a transfer bus to where we would get on the tour bus. Also, the tour time had been changed due to new regulations at Muir Woods and we were not told the new time for the bus, and had to stand out in cool, windy weather over an hour to wait for the tour bus. We paid some extra to book with Viator over booking our tours separately. It seems we had to do a lot of work that should have been done by Viator since we paid extra. For people new to San Francisco it was very confusing, when booking a tour is suppose to make your time easier and more pleasant. A few days prior to the tours, we did get a phone call from Viator and they were helpful in explaining the plan to get our tickets. We even had to call the day of for some clarification on the Piers and they were very pleasant and helpful._br/_ Our tour guide/drive to Muir Woods, Josh, made that part of the experience pleasant and relaxing after we finally got on the bus.

Great trip-loved our tour guide Randy -he was the greatest and made the tour much more fun! He went out of his way to take us back to our hotel which we very much appreciated, Would recommend this tour:_br/_ The only thing that was difficult was communication with the tour company. We were told we would be picked up at our hotel and received an email that they were picking us up and then after I talked to someone to confirm this they told us we had to find our own transportation and no one was picking us up. So we used Uber to get to Alcatraz and at the same time we were on our way they had someone at our hotel picking us up. Very poor communication. We felt so bad that we were not there for them to pick us up. Really wish that could have been better communicated as we would have loved to have taken the shuttle you provided from our hotel instead of using Uber. _br/_ Again Randy and the tour was great!

Do not do this tour. I will tell you my families experience there is no hotel pick up for anything. _br/_ Then when you call to confirm they inform you no pick up, then you have to get to Pier 41 and pick up your tickets for Alcatraz by 7:20 but the office does not open until 8 am. Then you finally get a sheet a paper with tickets and told to got to Pier 33 where the ferry leaves fore Alcatraz which is long walk when the tour starts at 8:20 am. Then you stand in a very long line about 15 minutes then you find out what they gave you at Pier 41 was not a ticket but a voucher. Then you tell you go over to building stand in line to get actual tickets. Then after you get the actual tickets to get you to Alcatraz and ride the ferry you get back in line in the same line to board the ferry. What a NIGHTMARE! They tell none of this! You have run around like crazy stressful!

Where we went and what we did was fabulous! But first we had to get from our hotel the night before to get the tickets to Alcatraz. Then the next day we had to get from our hotel to the Alcatraz ferry. After that great tour, we had a very long walk to get to the tour company's ticket office to get the tickets for the next phase of the tour, find a restroom and get back to the office before the bus arrived. Muir Woods was great but then Sausalito was a whirlwind tour with a very short stay, then back to the bus and San Francisco and finding our own way back to our hotel. Alcatraz and Muir Woods are must see destinations but this tour seemed like the planning was an afterthought.

Randy our tour bus host was a hoot! Really made the whole experience enjoyable and was very informative about the history of San Francisco. Great sense of humor!! Content of tour very good but nobody told us when we booked it was 2 separate tours. Pick up near our hotel was cancelled and we had to get taxi to take us downtown. Told to be there for 7.20 am and we did not depart till 8am. Office customer service needs a big improvement. _br/_ Told reason for pick up cancellation that the office on Fishermans Wharf did not open in time to issue Alcatraz vouchers. So we had to go from Fishermans Wharf to Post Street and back to Fishermans Wharf to start Alcatraz tour. Do not do this tour unless you cannot find alternative. With early start this was more than a 13 hour day.

FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS JUST A TRANSPORTATION TOUR ONLY 111!!!!! Had to take a 10 cab ride to their office would not let us go to their office 1 block from our hotel then let us out for the Alcatraz tour 4 blocks from our hotel after waiting 1 1/2 hour for the bus. Told us to be at their office at 7:20, left their office at 9:50 to go to boarding for Alcatraz. Took nice tour and went back to wait another hour for the bus to take us back to their office. Had to wait another hour and 15 minutes for that bus to arrive to take us to Muir Woods and Sausalito. FAR TOO MUCH WAITING FOR THEIR BUSES !!!!! Would not recommend or NOT take this tour again.

The 5 stars is for the Alcatraz tour it was fantastic highly recommend it to anyone. The Bus trip to the Giant Redwoods was a bit boring, we were expecting more and the Sausalito part was a fizzer not worth the petrol. Would have like more time at Alcatraz and not be stressed about being back by 1pm.

First of all this is not a tour. The agency does nothing but purchase tickets for you and drops you off as they only do hotel pick-ups from certain hotels which is specified in the description. So our Alcatraz tour was scheduled for the 10th January and a couple of days prior we received an e-mail telling us they will not be picking us up as I quote Alcatraz tour runs into the same time. That did not make sense as we were told to be at the agency at 7 am in the same e-mail and the tour starts at 8:45 am.

We signed up for this trip ONLY because we wanted to do the inside of Alcatraz tour and were unable to get tickets unless combined with other tours Note: if you know you are going to San Francisco, you will need to get your Alcatraz tickets well in advance . It ended up being a fun day we spent with our 26 year old son . The Alcatraz tour was phenomenal, Muir woods was great, and Sausalito is a nice little town. There really wasn't much time in Sausalito, though. For the people who stopped for lunch, I'm sure they were very rushed. We walked the length of the waterfront and enjoyed the lovely views. I would like to go back for a leisurely lunch sometime.

We did the Alcatraz tour in the morning, and although it was a rainy day, the experience was amazing. The driver took us to the pier where the ferry departs to Alcatraz island in time and doing the Audio Tour in the island was very interesting. After we were back from this portion of the tour, the driver took us back to the Union Square office where we change to another bus and went to the Muir Woods, which was another awesome experience. Those giant trees, the smell of the forest after the rain, you could breath peace in there. It is a pretty place to spend the afternoon and walk through the trails. Last the driver took us to Sausalito, where we spend about 45 minutes. Is very nice small town and we would rather have spend more time there, but it was fine, although you could stay and grab a ferry from there to cross the bay. While going to the places the driver explained a lot of things about San Francisco, and many other subjects. _br/_ Overall it was a very good tour and we will recommend it.
