San Francisco, United States of America

Treat yourself to a deluxe combination tour containing all of the best that San Francisco has to offer: city tour, the giant redwoods of Muir Woods and cosmopolitan Sausalito! Featuring three of the major attractions in one tour, this excursion is a must for visitors to the San Francisco Bay Area.

You'll also travel across the Golden Gate Bridge and through the coastal mountains to the Bay Area's popular Muir Woods. It was a good experienced. Our tour guide Randy is very accommodating and entertaining. He got a lot of tips on places to go to eat, what is the best restaurant, etc. The Muir Woods experience is the best. Totally recommending this tour.

The tours were great especially the Muir Woods. Taking both tours on the same day was a bit much and I would split it into two days.

The tour itself was good you get to see a lot of the city and Muir Woods is amazing but I found the organization of the tour to be very poor compared to other tours I have taken throughout the USA and Europe. We were told we would be picked up from our hotel at 8 am - the bus was 20 mins late I understand that it happens sometimes but a call or text would have been nice as we waited outside in the cold for 30 mins and were beginning to think we were going to miss our tour and the bus was completely different colours from what we were told to look for green and white vs blue and grey. You're then dropped off at the main office the tour does not start right away after the hotel pick ups. It was absolute chaos at their main office in the morning where all of the tours depart from with people and buses everywhere and nobody tourists or the people working seemed to know where to go. There was no stop at Golden Gate Park as indicated in the description just a drive through it. Also important to note that it says it is an 8 hour tour but the tour started at 9 am and did not end until 7 pm we had expected to have more time to ourselves in the evening. You return to the main office and switch buses and guides between the city tour and Muir Woods tour which we were not expecting. Both of our guides were very good however our guide for Muir Woods had a strong accent and it was difficult to understand him, particularly as he was speaking through a microphone on a moving bus which was unfortunate as he was a very nice man and very knowledgeable. Overall I'm glad we did the tour as it allowed us to see a lot in one day but I would not book this tour again knowing what I know now.

the day of the tour we discovered it was actually two separate tours so had a break in between. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge each time and travelled some of the same city streets. Because of that, we spent more time on the bus than we had expected. Each of the guides were knowledgeable and shared interesting stories and information. The tour showed us the varied areas of the city . This was the perfect way to see Muir Woods - no worries about driving the winding roads or parking. We could have skipped the Sausalito stop. It was late in the day and very overcast and cool outside. there wasn't enough time to do more than walk the street.

The city tour was great, I have been on it many times before as we come here once a year. Traveling with friends I convinced them this was a must as it covers everything. As always the tour was great,e were gifted with a sunny morning and Antoine took us to several great spots to see the bridge. Loved the Muir Woods tour what a wonderful miracle one hour out of the city. Saulslatio pretty but would prefer to speed shorter time there. Joe our driver was very informative, kind enough to accommodate everyone, but seasoned enough to keep everyone on time making the trip especially nice.

This was a wonderful way to see the city of San Francisco. It was very informative yet informal and nicely customized for our small group covering a wide variety of locations and sights in the area. We enjoyed the number of photo/exploration stops and had just the right amount of time at each. Josh and Randy were stellar guides!

The Woods were incredible, but the tour was late getting started so by the time we got to Sausalito most shops were closing for the day and there really wasn’t much to do for the 45 minutes we stopped there.

My tour in Muir woods and Sausalito was by Grayline. It was beautiful and I had the time to reflect on the Lord's wonderful creations like the sturdy trees in Muir woods. The tour was more beautiful because of our tour guide Thomas that was in October 22. Thomas was also our guide in our Monterey and Carmel by the Sea in October 20. He takes good care of his tourists and he treats them like a member of his family. He explains well and speaks clearly. Thomas is an asset in your travel industry.

This was a most enjoyable day. Our drivers were very informative and masterful behind the wheel. On our trip to and from Muir Woods, Don was especially informative as he grew up in that area and had all sorts of colorful stories of the area over the years.

The tour was great. However I was not picked up from the hotel as promised. The customer service was lacking - no one answered the phone and when I arrived at the tour office the staff were not concerned that I was not picked up.

I really enjoyed this tour of the city and of Muir Woods and Sausalito, but what made it most memorable was the excellent service provided by my guide/driver Robert W., who conducted the Muir Woods part of the tour. I made the horrible mistake of leaving my Canon DSLR camera on the bench near the entrance of Muir Woods and didn't notice it until we were nearing the next stop. Robert took my information and found a way to make contact with park attendants and learned that my camera had been turned in by an un-named kind soul and I was able to retrieve it the next day. Robert was not only a great tour guide, but a very professional and thoughtful person, who gave me his personal phone so that we could stay in touch all the way through the process. Gray Lines should be proud to have such person working for them and providing customer care that goes well beyond what it typical. My hat is off to him.

The first part of the tour - the city tour was awful - huge bus full - 54 people for 56 seatsin a town with tiny streets - 2 stops to take pictures that were 7 or 8 minutes long. The second part of the tour - Muir Woods and Sausalito - different smaller bus an a wonderful driver was amazing. Gave extra time to take pictures and made a special stop to take everyone to their hotel. Also suggested and stopped at the cable car stop for us.

This city tour was a fabulous way to view the city. Our tour guide was very informative of the sights. The bus was comfortable and accommodating. Muir Woods was breathtaking and Sausalito was an excellent place to spend the afternoon. We opted for staying longer and taking the ferry back to Pier 39. The trip was delightful and memorable._br/_ My only complaint was the bus station downtown. Even though the staff was friendly and helpful, the office was too small to filter the number of people waiting to board. It was confusing as to which bus to board. With an organization of this size and the volume it handles everyday, it would more beneficial to house this station in a larger area in order to board easier without the traffic of the city streets.

We loved our comprehensive tour of San Francisco including Muir Woods and Sausalito. Our guides pointed out so many interesting sights and gave lots of interesting details. I have to say our afternoon guide for Muir Woods and Sausalito was the best!!! I believe his name was Robert. You could tell he genuinely loved his job. He sang motown and he was very enthusiastic and fun. He had a great sense of humour and even when our tour bus was overheating he stayed calm, cool and collected and continued stating all the facts about Muir Woods without batting an eyelash. True professionalism. When the bus stalled he said Mama said there'd be days like these and he said it calmly, got out of the bus and called the office to let them know about the troubles he was experiencing. He got right back on the bus and got us to Muir Woods safely, put some water in the rad and solved the issue. We felt the time at Muir Woods was ample and loved seeing the big trees and smelling the wonderful scent of redwoods. We even saw a deer in the park. Sausalito was very pretty and we enjoyed a stroll and an ice cream there. The golden gate bridge was definitely a hightlight of the tour as well. When we saw the bridge in the morning there was a fair bit of fog so it was so nice when our afternoon guide took us there again to see the bridge after the fog had lifted. Again the time spent there for photos was more than ample. I would highly recommend this tour! We felt like we saw more than most people would see in 2-3 days.

The actual tour was excellent and for someone who has never been to SF it is a great way to visit most of the major sites. Muir Woods is breathtaking and Sausalito reminded me of Italy. However, I gave this a 2 star because our tour guide did not speak English well and it made understanding what was going on very hard. When you are visiting so many sites, it is extremely important to have someone who speaks fluent English.

In the morning we got to do the city tour, with a few stops for taking pictures. After a break of 1 hour for eating some lunch - not included the afternoon trip left for Muir Woods, and on the return a stop of about 1 hour in Sausalito._br/_ The city tour drives through multiple neighborhoods for 2 1/2 hours, and could offer more stops for the camera wielding tourists. In the Muir Woods we had a roughly 90 minute time frame to walk the national park before departing. A very beautiful destination indeed, and worth the money. Sausalito is the last stop before going back to San Francisco, and is in my humble opinion totally overpriced. 4.95 for one scoop of ice cream along the main street is a little steep. The high prices cannot be blamed on the tour bus company, but should be kept in mind when you stop there. Altogether a good price for the combination. The drivers are knowledgeable and do their job well.

As this is an all day tour hotel pickups are offered. On departure there's the option of taking the trams at your own expense instead. City tour is fully narrated and does 15 to 30 minute stops at several sights such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Twin Peaks. Muir woods is about half an hour's drive out of the city and is essentially free time with a little bit of a guided tour at the start if you want it. Think the free time was about 75 mins so that limits how far you can go there are signpost like maps throughout the woods. There's nothing to see in Sausalito except for views of San Francisco, so those having free time rather than the lunch are likely to get bored. Tour ended with a cliff edge view of Golden Gate Bridge with San Francisco in the background. A good way to see a lot quickly, but not really enough time in any one place.

It's a good introduction to SF, however, its definitely not enough. its a good start for your first day at the city to help you decide which attractions to visit later. Sausalito and the woods were not that impressive, however, other places in SF were.

We only did the first half of this tour due to time, so I can't speak about the 2nd portion of this trip. The trip to Muir Woods was really great! The trees are huge!! We also enjoyed the trip to Sausalito - great little town with great views and wonderful picture opportunities._br/_ Our driver was so nice! He never took a small detour to give us a picture opportunity of the Golden Gate Bridge on the way back into SF. He had a very thick Russian accent, so he was difficult to understand.

My biggest faults and issues were:_br/_ 1. Driver/ never stopped speaking over the loud microphone/ lips too close to microphone, projected a loud annoying sound. It was wrenching for one hour before we got a break. Also difficult to understand Russian Ancient. Sentences should have a pause or break between them! It should not be a constant 60-80 minutes of non-stop speaking_br/_ 2. Two different busses due to the two half-day tours/ different drivers, BUT - repeated information!!! Both drivers mentioned same areas and point of interest. _br/_ The tour could have been better. I wish the description would have listed more details exact stops and for how long. I didn't like that the tour guide pointed out places of interest in other areas, and didn't drive by those places painted ladies, Nob Hill, Lombard St, and etc._br/_ I enjoyed the MUIR WOODS - and that the entry fee was included!!!

This was a wonderful day! We felt like it was definitely worth the money. So many great opportunities for taking photos. I wish we would have had a more detailed itinerary and known that the 90 minutes between the morning and afternoon tours are not included in the eight hours specified--we were gone much longer than expected. Overall a very nice tour.

Muir Woods was great. The stop in Sausalito would be more appreciated if it was 1.5 hours instead of 1 hour. People want to have lunch by the time we get there which means no time at all to look around. The city tour was good but I thought we would drive by more landmarks and/or important buildings. Unfortunately, our driver Raymond was not the best. He kept putting on the brakes all the time and his strong accent made it difficult to understand some of the comments he was making but overall, a good tour.

Unfortunately we could hardly understand the driver, because of his very strong spanish accent. Then the bus broke down and the driver was completely helpless. Thanks to the head office, the tour could be continued after a long break.

Day started out chaotic--- instructions were to wait by concierge in our hotel, but no one ever came in- a member of our group went outside and saw a bus- driver was NOT nice, said he is not walking in, anyone coming better come outside. There was mass confusion because no one realized he was picking up for multiple tours. The bus drops everyone off at a main office where you check in and we learned our tour, which unless I missed something, was in two separate parts. We were unaware you go on 1 tour, return to the office and there was an hour or two time gap before the next part of the tour. I was under the impression it was an entire day of touring. I gave 4 stars because of how enjoyable the visit to Muir Woods and Sausalito was-- Randy was a great guide. Surprising the day would start off so hectic given this company gives tons of tours every day- not sure why the check in process for pick up time at the hotel was a problem- wasn't just us though, as there was a number of people waiting by the concierge desk. Had it not been for Randy and how nice the bus was and the parts of the tour we did I probably would have given 2 or 3 stars.

Excellent tour with wonderful driver. I can't remember names now but I think Ray and Rich. Both were knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor to add to the experience. Sausalito ended up being a lunch stop but the time there needed to be short to have time for SF afternoon portion of tour.

We recently took the John Muir Wood trip with Grayline Tours booked with Viator. We were picked up from our hotel which you can request at the time of booking. You are then taken to their offices to check in. There were loads of people all waiting to check in. It was quite disorganised as you were queuing in the street. Eventually we were directed to our bus. Our driver was called Randy. He was extremely nice and made suggestions for us to see whales etc. on our drive further south to Monterey and Pismo Beach thank you Randy - we saw the elephant seals at San Simeon!. The trip to John Muir wood was very good and you get to spend just over an hour there. There are lots of coach trips there so it is very busy. Allow time to use the restroom as the queue was very long! There are various walks in the woods and the map tells you roughly how long they will take so that you can plan which one to take. The scenery is lovely and look out for wildlife! The second part of the trip took us to Sausalito, a vibrant fishing town. We were able to stay here for an hour, before returning to San Francisco. The town is very busy with lots of shops and restaurants. We would have liked more time in John Muir Woods, but it is a good trip and we would recommend it.

It was very helpful to be picked up at the hotel, but very inconvenient to then be driven downtown, wait in crowded lines for a real ticket, then get on another bus, when we had understood advanced purchase would begin the tour at pickup.

The morning tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito was nice. Wished I had more time at our second step in Sausalito._br/_ The SF City tour was a good tour as far as it seemed to cover the whole city. I couldn't understand half if what the tour guide said so that really make the tour not very enjoyable. I had to keep asking others what he said and they would answer they didn't know either. I am sure I missed a lot of information which left me somewhat unhappy at the end of the tour.

I and #39;m giving two stars only because the bus took us to Muir Woods which in itself made things better. Other than that - extremely disorganized, misinformation given and late. We were told we had hotel pick up and we leave at 9 - nope. Joe from the Muir Woods leg was Informative at least.
