Cousino Macul and Concha y Toro Wineries Day Trip from Santiago
Santiago, Chile
Discover the 'New World of Wine' in Chile and visit two of the oldest and most historic wineries in the country on a full day guided tour from Santiago. Chile has established itself as an emerging producer of great wines and today is your chance to visit some of the most popular wineries leading the way.
Cousino Macul was founded in 1856 and is still owned and run by the direct descendant's of Matias Cousino, the original founder. The cellars were built in the French style using 'cal y canto' - a mixture of egg white and lime as 'cement'. You will take a tour of the winery before sampling its produce. The winery is known for its red, particularly merlot.
After a stop for lunch (additional cost) you'll continue your Chilean wine experience at Concha y Toro. Founded in 1883 by Don Melchor Concha y Toro, the winery is today the largest producer of export wines in Chile. Your tour takes in the landscaped gardens of the colonial house, the vineyards themselves as well as a full explanation of the wine making process, including the modern processing plant and the old cellars.
This was a really terrific tour! We had such a great time, and the wineries were both terrific. Cousino Macul had a smaller, more personal feel, and Concha y Toro was more of a production-two very different places, but both with very good wine!

I have put in a complaint about this tour to Viator. The supplier did not deliver what we paid for and the supplier did nothing to rectify the situation - very disappointing as we have used Viator for years without any problems.

The wine is HANDS DOWN amazing....You just need to actually go and do the tastings. I bought a Viator deal with the basic tastings too. I wasn't too fond of the actual tour. I had bought a Viator tour that included Cousino Macul and Concha y Toro...I will say that I enjoyed the tours of Cousino Macul and the wine from Concha y Toro..

Great guide, and driver, new car and wonderful day.

It was excellent. The Cousino Macul is the best. Provided the detailed history of the Chilean wine and how to evaluate wine. Concha Y Toro is a bit more commercialized. I wish the tour goes to another smaller vineyard. We enjoyed the recommended restaurant for lunch.

Good tour of two wineries especially Concha y Toro. While this was a private tour our guide was very nice but to the level of other guides we have had in the past or what you would expect. Would recommend you consider it.

Fantastic tour, had a great day. The guide Claudio spoke English and was very professional and tried really hard to make sure the trip was great!

The 2 wineries were really good - but a little more wine would be good and perhaps one more winery instead of such a long lunch

Our tour guide, Cecilia, was great - very friendly, informative, and spoke excellent English. The pick-up at our hotel was very prompt and convenient. It was just myself and my husband on the tour. The tours at Cousino Macul and Concha Y Toro were informative, and the guides there also spoke excellent English (Concha Y Toro was my favorite of the two). Overall, it was a great tour, with the only downside being the price (approx. $180/person).

Very good professional tours and well organised local lunch

Cousino Macul winery tour was excellent, Concha y Toro tour not quite so good (possibly because we had just done the previous winery tour - bit too similar I guess). The Driver was good, but wasn't really a guide.

The wineries were very interesting and their guides provided a lot of good information in a fun way -- we liked both tours. But why did Viators send both a driver and a guide for this tour? We only needed a driver! The guide just sat around and waited for us while we were on our tours. She was a nice lady, but paying for two people to accompany us made the price of this tour much higher than it should have been.

we enjoyed the tour very much

Did not visit Cousino Macul as indicated in the itinerary, but another winery. Concha y Toro was too big anf the tour was not very informative.

Jorge was our tour guide, and we shared the tour with another couple who spoke another language- poor Jorge had to say everything twice! But it was a lovely day and the wineries were fabulous.

Very enjoyable and relaxing. Convenient pickup time from our hotel, informative guided tours in English, and excellent wines offered for tasting. Lunch stop had great Chilean food and music. Pace was good and an overall memorable experience.

We really loved this trip. Even though you only visit two vineyards, they were definitely worth it. The restaurant where lunch is had at is really nice too. I would do this tour again.

Combining the two wineries was an awesome idea! The mix of the family-bred little CousiƱo Macul and the large corporate-style Concha y Toro was a perfect way to experience the Santiago wine scene.

We were the only two on the tour ! A very good and knowledgeable guide made for a great day out to two of the best wineries

We actually visited the Undurraga winery instead of Cousino Macul and it was an excellent tour - our young guide certainly knew his stuff and spoke fluent English, as did the guide at Concha y Toro. Altogether a very enjoyable and worthwhile day - highly recommended.

We had a great time! Freddy was our tour guide, and he spoke great English. Because it was a mid-week trip during the "off-season", we ended up having a private tour. It was a lot of fun and we recommend it. Thank you!

We were confused as the first winery stop was not the one we expected. However we enjoyed (Aquatania) . It was small but the private tour was excellent and the guide good. Concha y Toro was a big contrast. the ride from the first one to it was a bit too long but the tour was interesting. A major drawback was that we could not communicate with Oscar as he spoke no English. However, he was pleasant.

What a enjoyable experience- first, the local tour driver was prompt, with a very clean van, and knowledgeable of the area. The two wineries were extremely informative in sharing their wine creation process, with very nice gifts at the conclusion of the tour. Finally, the lunch location chosen by the driver was very nice, reflective of local Chile cuisine. A worthwhile day trip while in Santiago.

Very nice trip. I recommend for all.

First of all, the Cousino Macul tour was cancelled and the other tour that replaced it was Cavas del Maipo. The Cavas del Maipo and Concha y Toro tours were great. The tour in general was terrific and our guide Gonzalo was very, very good. I will recommend this tour to all our friends here in Asuncion. Thank you very much for the great service.

The visit to the Wineries were great the tour guide was just average and could have given us much more details about the city and country !!!

Worst trip I have ever booked with Viator or anyone else. My wife and I had booked it some some weeks earlier from the UK._br/_
Firstly, the tour operator did not turn up despite my ringing them twice in the previous 24hrs. to confirm pick up time. After a few more phone calls, a driver appeared who did not speak English who took us on the "tour". The two wineries were ok but you only got 2 wines to taste at each. _br/_
I complained to the tour company on the day and was compensated with a free lunch which we did not have time to finish. _br/_
You can visit these wineries fairly easily yourself and far more cheaply. Do not book this trip. I had to giver it one star to lodge this rating. I am complaining directly to Viator also.

This trip was a not what it was advertised as. IT was a bait and switch since we signed up for the two wineries listed (Cousin Macul and Concha y Toro). Firstly, our driver spoke NO English (the tour was to have an English-speaking guide). Then we arrived at a small winery called Aquitqania instead of Cousino Macul. No explanation was given. Some of the tour folks had researched Cousino Macul and we did not get to that winery. We DID get to Concha y Toro, however, but not having an English-speaking guide was disappointing.

Our driver and guide was outstanding. Both wineries were interesting and the tours were good. Close to Santiago which reduced driving time and left more time for the tour.

The tour operator changed one of the wineries without notice, and we only realized this in the middle of the tour. But, Concha y Toro was great.
