Soul of Seoul Small-Group Walking Tour
Seoul, South Korea
Discover the history, culture and food of Seoul on a walking tour of this bustling metropolis. Journey back to the past and visit historic landmarks like Gyeonghuigung Palace and the Bosingak Bell Pavilion.
Experience Seoul’s unique fusion of ancient traditions and rapid modernization as you amble down the streets and see the numerous markets, high rises, temples and tea shops! Your local guide will show you the best of Seoul, revealing hidden treasures, favorite local hangouts and iconic landmarks.
Meet your guide at the Gwanghwamun Metro Station in Seoul, and begin your tour by walking to the Seoul Museum of History for a unique interactive exhibition of the local history at the Seoul City Panoramic Theatre. You'll continue from there into Gyeonghuigung Palace, one of the five royal palaces in Seoul. After taking in the sights at the palace, head to the Daehamun gate of Deoksugung Palace to see the royal changing of the guard ceremony.
After a brief stop at Seoul City Hall, you'll then take a walk through Cheonggyecheon Plaza. This beautiful, 5-mile-long (8-kilometer) public recreation space flows from west to east through downtown Seoul and is a popular gathering place for locals to relax. Admire the picturesque stream, historic stone bridges and uniquely decorated walls, with modern high rises in the backdrop.
Continue your walk to Jongno, one of the oldest areas running through central Seoul and an important financial and cultural center. Walk over and visit the Bosingak Bell Pavilion, one of Seoul's most popular landmarks as well as the conclusion for your tour.
This three-hour walking tour will give you a good overview of Seoul so you can explore the rest of the city on your own, discovering new neighborhoods or returning to your favorite spots for a more in-depth look.
We had a lovely host and she knew so much about the city! Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the tour with Jesse who was an extremely enthusiastic and fun guide. It was a valuable introduction to this lively city. My only recommendation is to slow down the pace and extend the time of the tour by another hour. Our tour lasted from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

I am really sorry I am reviewing this so late. The main problem is that Viator didn't have a way to rate and review through the app only on the site But the Tour was really nice and the guide was better. She had a very nice attitude and decided in favor of waiting for me when I was somewhat late to arrival. Great Memories!!

I had a great time with Grace despite the rain. She was very kind and very knowledgeable and I learnt a lot about Seoul and Korea in a short time. She went out of her way to get me brochures about Korea culture after I mentioned it. Warmly recommended!

Itinerary was good. But poor management of time when we dillydallied at the museum which we could have gone back on our own and had to rush to catch the ringing of the bell by 12.

The tour is worth doing as it does point out a number of places to see in Seoul. However it was a bit rushed and I could have used more time in some spots and less in others. The guide was good at improvising as one of the attractions was closed due to rain so I got to see another spot nearby.

Really enjoyed this walking tour with guide Jesse and trainee Junie. _br/_
Gained a lot of knowledge and insights to Seoul. Would suggest doing this walking tour at the start of your travels as you can pick up a lot of suggestions on places to visit on your own.

everything was good. My only complaint is that we were taken to over priced state stores three times and could not go to other stores...everyone seemed unhappy with this as we were there for indefinite periods of time.....Finally, at last stop...after several complained...we were given some free time.

Ren is a very knowledgeable guide. I came away from the tour feeling much more educated about the culture and history of Seoul.

The tour guide wasn't very informative and his English could have been better, luckily he had 2 trainees with him who could communicate well and were much more knowledgeable. The tour description didn't match the real thing as I was taken to a museum and spent an hour in there instead of "ambling down the streets seeing numerous markets, temples and tea houses"(didn't see one tea house and certainly didn't try any Korean food on this tour). The places I was taken you can easily see on your own. I was expecting lanes and alleys, places I perhaps wouldn't venture down for fear of getting lost.

Jiny, my guide, was top-notch. A young lady with a vast knowledge of her city, and is good at conveying it to others. She taught me a few phrases in Korean that I used the rest of my trip.

Thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Mr Kim - parents and teenage kids alike. We saw parts of Seoul we would totally have missed on our own. Mr Kim obviously loves his city and it was wonderful to see his enthusiasm, energy and pride as he showed us his city. Thank you.

A very enjoyable day.

We liked the scope of the tour and what we saw in a short time was really good but the guide had to rush to meet the ceremonires at the 'changing of the guard" palace and also the "bell ringing" at the temple. Perhaps this tour should commence earlier? Also the guide needed to stop at intervals to speak directly to the participants to be heard over the traffic. His Eenglish was poor and although very keen and conscientious, he needed to learn to stop and explain, rather than to lead the way talking as he went. despite this, we enjoyed the tour and would recoomend it.

Interesting tour. The guide was very friendly and helpfull, but his english was rather limited. So the information I got was very basic.

The tour itself was very lax; we had a general route but we could stop where we wanted to, which was perfect for my family of five. The sites themselves were interesting and well rounded. Our guides, Jong and Mr. Kim, dipped into a bit of every aspect of South Korean culture, from its vast history to interesting little factoids to modern myths. The guides were very welcoming and hospitable. They not only knew their stuff, but they also made lunch recommendations and guided us over to our next stop! The tour was a wonderful three or so hours and (believe me, I've done my research) the prices can't be beat!
