Blue Mountains Nature and Wildlife Day Tour from Sydney

Sydney, Australia

Discover the beautiful wilderness on Sydney's doorstep on a day trip to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. Enjoy spectacular views over the Megalong Valley and see the Three Sisters rock formations at Katoomba. Meet kangaroos and koalas in the natural bush setting of Featherdale Wildlife Park. This scenic Sydney day tour also takes you over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Your tour begins with pickup from selected Sydney hotels, then takes you on a scenic drive over the stunning Sydney Harbour Bridge, through western Sydney to the World Heritage-listed beauty of the Blue Mountains.

Follow the winding Cliff Drive on your journey into the Blue Mountains National Park, where your first stop is Scenic World, where you can ride the world’s steepest railways or take the gondola for aerial views of the valley below (if option selected).

Visit a lookout, overlooking the rocky outcrops and eucalypt forests of the Megalong Valley, you will be able to see right across the valley to the Three Sisters rock formation at Katoomba. While taking in the views, enjoy a commentary on the Aboriginal legends behind these famous rocky pinnacles.

Travel to the quaint mountain township of Leura, home to cafes, restaurants and the Candy Store with sweets from Australia and around the world. Enjoy lunch in Leura (own expense or included if you choose the lunch option) and browse the town's antique stores and boutiques.

In the afternoon, hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies and enjoy a close-up encounter with koalas at Featherdale Wildlife Park, one of Australia's largest private collections of native animals and birds. Don’t forget your camera to photograph the varied wildlife in a natural bush setting.

Great stops! Knowledgeable tour guide who told stories and history about the area. Tour guide allowed everyone to sample vegemite. Good tour for solo or group travelers.

Great tour! Unfortunately, fog in the mountains obscured most views. Walked the paths on valley floor which were great. Wildlife park and tour narratives were excellent.

Wonderful tour of the Blue Mountains. Good way to see a lot in one day. It is a full day but well worth it.

This was a great tour. The scenery was awesome looking over the Blue Mountains. The trams and the cable car felt safe as we were co concerned. Our bus driver was wonderful as he was very informative about the city, culture and venues. The lunch was also a good value. We would recommend this tour to everyone.

We had a great time on this tour! I really wish I could remember the bus driver's name - he was wonderful. Knew so much history of the area. We liked that there were multiple stops, and we got see a variety of things.

Excellent arrangement. Driver Danny arrived at pickup time of 7:00AM and was a great guide. Would recommend to anybody planning on this trip. The lunch arrangement was good and they accommodated my wifes vegetarian requests.

Good tour - allowing us to explore on our own, but giving us commentary as we rode to the Mountains and to the Wildlife Reserve. Very crowded at the Blue Mountains with several tourists and tour groups. Lunch was very good - almost too much food. Time to browse the village was adequate. We picked up a short cruise from the bus back into Sydney, which was an added bonus. _br/_ Only complaint - we stayed at Sydney Olympic Park and could not arrange pickup at any of those hotels and had to taxi into downtown to pick up the tour, adding expense to the day.

This is a comfortable tour, I can recommend it to anyone. You will see spectacular views of the Three sisters and will enjoy an unforgettable walk in the Scenic World. In the Featherdale wildlife reserve you can see the most unique animals of this country. If you like doing a lot in one day, this is your tour.

Four of us went on the tour, we were picked up on time from a nearby hotel, the guide and the driver were a comedy double act which made for an entertaining day. The trip was well planned and professionally run and was excellent value. The bus was very comfortable, the lunch was good and well organised. The venues were stunning. Once again viator has exceeded our expectations .

This is not worth the money! We made three stops, one to the Blue Mountains which is not what it's all cracked up to be. The only fun part of this stop was hiking down and back up the mountain. The next stop was to a pre selected restaurant They probably get a kickback for stopping there where the food was ordered in advance and sitting under heat lamps waiting for the bus to arrive, which made it luke-warm. They cram you in and rush you out just in enough time for the next bus to arrive, it's a scam and way over priced for what they give you. The last stop was to a petting farm. It was nice but there wasn't enough time spent there because we had to get back into the city plus it was over priced. It would be better to go to the zoo if you want to see kangaroos and koalas.

I took this tour on Friday, January 19th,2018. There were a few disappointments, but I'm not sure if it was the fault of the driver or simply the crowds. The driver gave no commentary as we drove through Sydney and out to the Blue Mountains. Traffic was heavy, we arrived at the overview site too late to see the aborigine show. It was a very hot day, by the afternoon when we arrived at the wildlife park, most of the animals were resting in their shelters. Maybe the driver doesn't have the authority to change the timetable, but it would have been better to go to the wildlife park in the morning, when the animals would be active and see the Blue Mountains in the afternoon when perhaps they would be less crowded.

We had a wonderful day. Our driver, Tom, was excellent! He had a great sense of humour and was a wealth of knowledge. We learned so much about Sydney, the Blue Mountains area and everything in between. _br/_ The Blue Mountains are beautiful! _br/_ Thanks for a great day.

Loved the trip to the blue mountains. The trip also included a stop for lunch and a stop a stop at a wildlife place. I would skip those last two and only take the trip to the blue mountains. The lunch was adequate, crowded and hurried with little to see in the town. The wildlife location was disappointing. All the tour buses pull into the restaurant and wildlife place at the same time which causes a mess. Personally to do over, I would take a train to the mountains and forget the rest.

A really memorable day out and although I worried they were trying to pack too much into the day you needed to do something else as well as the blue mountains to make it a full day.

This was a fantastic Tour from start to finish with our Tour Guide and Driver Tom. We received an on going commentary from Tom about each place we were passing. He also gave us some unexpected stops for photos and took us to see the Olympic Stadium and village on the road back even although this was not part of our tour. The Blue Mountains were beautiful even though there was a little cloud and seeing the animals and birds at Featherdale Wildlife Centre was also a wonderful experience. Stopping at Leura for a lovely lunch and also had time to visit the shops in the Town._br/_ Overall a great Tour and would definitely recommend.

The tour was good, the driver/guide was informative and safe driver but the way he spoke was kind of blunt and not very nice._br/_ The tip is either bring your own lunch or go to the market to buy something quick for lunch, then you can have time to shop around town._br/_ Wish to have more time at animal park because didnt have enough time to see all._br/_ The driver Took a long way back because had to drop people off for their river cruise tour but we got to see the old olympic arena which was nice to know_br/_ We were from the cruise ship therefore the pickup and drop off from the other side of FourSeasons hotel which about 5 minutes walk

Overall fun long day. We purchased the lunch but it wasn't good. Once there we realized the town had lots of places to pick up a quick bite. Would have preferred more time at the Wildlife Park we only had 1 hour honestly we needed closer to 2 hrs to really enjoy the full park. The views from Echo Point and at the Scenic Park were amazing and feeding/petting kangaroos and koalas was a big high light of the trip.

Great but long trip. We took the trip on our last day at Sydney so got us it felt extra long. But doing this early will be worth the time to explore Scenic World. Featherdale Zoo is small but nice to see native Australian animals.

Our guide, Henry was very good. The trip was well worth the pricing, and we got to see the mountains on a beautiful sunny day. The coach was the size of a city bus, and many turns on long mountain roads, so if you are prone to car sickness, take your bonine prior to the start of tour. we got to see Echo Point, with 3 sisters outlook, which had many scenic vistas. The next stop at Scenic World was for enjoying the rain forests, and mountains, via riding the cable car, railway, or tram, with abilities to ride as often as you wanted each ride, time permitting for lines to take the rides which lasted approximately 5 minutes each. A lunch stop and shopping area in the town of Leura was ok. The diner, Loaves and Dishes, had a very busy lunch crowd, with cramped tables, and noisy dining. the food was not worth the pricing, and I'd advise to lunch on your own in town. I would have liked a 30 minute stop in Katoomba, which looked interesting. After lunch we visited Featherdales Wildlife Park. The animals are in enclosures, and if you want a picture with a koala, there is an additional fee, 35 dollars. We did see kangaroos and koalas, and eagles. A guide was feeding penguins too. Overall the tour was as described, but I was expecting more.

The tour guide cum driver if i remembered the name correctly, JohnS? was attentive to the details like how is the temperature in the coach? ok? not ok? One complaint for the coach was the leaking cooling outlets, making us very uncomfortable, John bought a few packs of Tim Tank biscuits for the passengers on the coach as a apologetic gesture... he's considerate. The weather was not good, it was drizzling in the morning, raining heavily during lunch time, but turned better in the afternoon. Overall the experience is good, due to a considerate guide that we have. Thanks.

The blue mountains were absolutely beautiful! Scenic World was fun but do some research before you go. We had one person on our tour who was scared of heights and all three rides had a thrill factor to them. The wildlife park was nice - you got to see a lot of animals, though I would recommend the behind the scenes zoo tour in Sydney over this segment.

Beautiful place. And the guide was great! We had a problem with the bus and could handle it very well and we didn't miss anything. I just wish we had spent more time at the Mountains and had more time to walk along the scenic park.

I must read the descriptions better. This is a very toruistic endavour with very little true nature. I think the title is a little misleading. Never the less, it was a good day out and the vdriver/tourguide was friendly and professional.
