Explore the Northeast Coast of Taipei and stroll through the Chiufen Village also known as Jiufen on this four-hour tour from Taipei. Drive to the east coast of Taipei to visit the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area, a popular swimming spot for the locals. Offering fascinating rock formations, lighthouses, fishing villages, pastoral farmlands and temples.
You'll be picked up from your Taipei city hotel at 1:00pm, drive along the northeast coast of Taiwan to the National Scenic Area, popular location with the locals. The northeast coast scenic area is noted for its numerous capes and bays backed by green mountains. Visit Pitou Cape, tall abrasion caves and platforms and other eroded landforms which can be clearly seen on the cape's hanging cliff.
The tour continues to Nanya, a coastline filled with amazing rock formations, a sea-eroded coral shore. The patterned stone is unique in Taiwan and formed through the weathering of the sandstone that lines the shore. The oxidation of iron ore within the stone gives it a beautiful striped pattern.
Travel to the quaint little village of Chiufen Village (Jiufen), once the gold mining center of Taiwan. The gold is gone, but Chiufen (Jiufen) built of closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides, continue to offer enchanting scenery, unique teahouses and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past.
It was raining but the northeast coast was amazing with pounding waves and stark rock formations. Jiufen village was charming and full of exciting smells and sounds. Our tour guide Thomas was very gracious and offered to take our pictures along the rocky coastline. He guided us through the steady rain in and out of the alleys of Jiufen.

This tour made me truly fall in love with Taiwan - it was amazing to see the north shore and then experience the vibrant village of Jiufen, lots of great shopping for handmade goods, beautiful teas and lots of souvenirs. One hint: BRING LOTS OF WATER. It's very hot and you'll sweat lots!

Very good experience, tour guide Felix was awesome! Answered all our questions and stopped at place in route so we could take pictures that was along our route. It was raining on our tour, but we had fun and the views were amazing.

Overall a good trip although our bus was involved in an accident as we got back into the city. Wasn't very pleased with the way it was handled was bundled out if the van and pointing of the directions back to our hotels. No follow up from the tour company providing the service. Had a sore necklace for a couple of days, luckily no real injuries. Overall the trip was nice.

The tour guide and the driver arrive on time to pick us up at the hotel. i find the them very experienced and knew where to bring us to visit and bought souvenir. My daughter and I like it a lot for the guide has led us to special photo site that we can take really good pictures of the area especially we are the big fan of Miyazaki. The only downside is that they should improve the Mic in the van for since we are sitting in the back we can hardly hear what the guide has been telling us as we are driving to Keelung Harbour. Overall this is a fantastic tour. It is one of our favourite attraction in Taiwan.

It is a very convenient way of getting to Jiufen without worrying about the transportation but the amount of time spent at Jiufen to explore shops/buy souvenirs was extremely disappointing.

The northern coast of Taiwan is rugged and glorious. I had previously seen the northwest and this trip was to the northeast. Walter, our guide, was knowledgeable and courteous. Chiufen Village has a bird's-eye view of the coast and had plenty of shops and dining opportunities. The drive, little more than an hour, was smooth and pleasant.

Great tour to Jiufen. You get about an hour to explore the great market street of the city, but doesn't offer great views of the Spirited Away tea house you'll have to figure those out on your own. The other locations on the tour were nice, but not particularly noteworthy. Guide was informative and very nice.

This is a quick, friendly and convenient way to get to the north coast and Chuifen village with some great mountain and coastal scenery and Japan-era industrial remnants. Prompt pickup from hotel, friendly and knowledgable guide. Time in Chuifen was free lots of food, tea and tourist tat and crowds of day trippers to enjoy with a well organised walk at the end. Very considerate of older/less mobile passengers whilst ensuring everyone was well occupied. Highly recommended.

The tour is very short. We stayed in the Nanya Rock formations for about 10 minutes only. Not enough time to go down and take pictures. The tour guide, Walter, is always in a hurry. And in Jiufen, we only have one hour to explore the area. Since it's a public holiday, it's very crowded. You won't be able to finish the whole place in an hour. Wasn't able to visit all the alleyways there. And he spent the first 15minutes of the one-hour asking us to buy those delicacies. Sigh... I think it would be better if we went to Jiufen by ourselves. :

Chiufen was a beautiful place but we did I not really get to see the place. We just pass through the village shops to buy foodstuffs and gift items. Great tour, can be overwhelming with the number of other tourists in the region but our guide was thorough and knowledgable he spoke 6 languages so everyone was accommodated. Hotel pick up and drop off was very convenient. Jiufen is beautiful.

Chiufen itself is a bit of a tourist trap: its a lot of of little shops selling souvenirs and food, very similar to a Taipei night market. But what makes this tour is the natural scenery. The Northeast coast is beautiful, and Chiufen itself has great mountain views. When we were there, Chiufen and the coast were dominated by fog, which was pretty, but I hear that when it is not foggy there is a great view of the ocean from the mountains. Our tour guide was very friendly, informative, and willing to take pictures of us.

This was billed as a quaint gold mining town with historical implications. It was just a never ending series of junk shops. Weekend timing and itinerary different where you transfer to a public bus and return on a cab. Turned out ok, but shocked that it was not disclosed

Hi. Our tour was very fun. We had an English speaking tour guide, Thomas, and he was really entertaining during the tour. The driver and Thomas picked us up at our hotel at exactly 12:50pm then dropped us off at 6pm. I would recommend this tour and viator to all travelers who wants to visit Taiwan and the North east coast. Thank you again.

Jiufen Village is a beautiful and fascinating gold mining city built into the mountain. Unfortunately it poured rain the day we went and we weren't able to see the beautiful views because of the fog. The coast is also beautiful and the sandstone formations are mesmerizing. I loved this tour and would definitely do it again...hopefully in better weather-

Tour was OK, but nothing really special. Plenty of people in Chiufen village. Frankly speaking, there are just a couple of nice sceneries, but otherwise - it is just a market, and there are plenty of those in Taipei. Northeast coast is nice, but again I'm not sure that it is worth taking the tour for that.

Very disappointing tour. We took this tour expecting to see the Queen's Head formation, we even called the tour operator and was told this tour did go there but it didn't. This tour took us to only one sandstone formation the Bamboo Shoot and Jiufen Village. Jiufen Village isn't anything exciting as we had already taken the 5-day Best of Taiwan Tour and visited several Night Markets in Taipei city before going on this tour. So the only unique thing on this tour was the Bamboo Shoot sandstone formation. Not worth the expense. To make things worse the tour was by 7-passenger van not including driver and tour guide that had bad shock absorbers so you felt every single jarring pothole, bump, and lump in the road. Add to that a driver that thought he was in some kind of race with hard braking and turns. The tour guide, Thomas, was nice but he didn't introduce himself and didn't even look for us at the pick-up point. He came and to another traveler and I had to go and make sure he was there for us. I don't recommend this tour unless you absolutely want to visit the Northeast Coast and have no one in your group who can interpret for you. If you have someone in your group of 4 or less who can play interpreter I suggest hiring a taxi for a private tour. The taxi driver who took us to the airport said a private taxi would cost NTD400/hour. Had we known everything we know now we would have done that and got to see the Queen's Head at less than what this tour costs.

The tour guide made this trip worse that it was. His brash and loud approach was not too welcome. Plus the tour is really not very interesting except the short walk through the crowded Jiufen street which really is nothing exceptional as each stall sells similar things and the eating joints are just blah!

Frankie was our guide and it was a great trip! We were very comfortably seated in a van, with 3 other tourists. We were shown all the scenic spots to take pictures, and my favorite was taking a picture at the tea house in Jiufen that inspired the tea house in Miyazaki's Spirited Away! Don't eat lunch before this because there is tons of delicious foods to try at Jiufen!
