Northern Coast Half-Day Tour including Yehliu Park from Taipei
Taipei, Taiwan
A geologists dream tour, explore the harbor city of Keelung on this four-hour tour from Taipei. A 40-minute drive northeast of Taipei, Keelung is one of Taiwan's international seaports. Travel to the Northern Coast of Taiwan to the fascinating natural rock formations of Yehliu Park, where you will discover the infamous rock formations of the Queen's Head and Fairy's Shoe, a fascinating place for a day trip.
You'll be picked up from your Taipei city hotel at 8:00am and travel to the northern coast through rich farming land to the growing industrial area and harbor of Keelung.
Continue along the northern coast to Yehliu Park, the highlight of this tour. Yehliu Park is known for it's spectacular rock formations, sculptured throughout the ages by wind and sea erosion leaving fascinating pillars including the famous Queen's Head.
We love the unique place .nice tour guide and driver highly recommended .thumbs up

It was a nice, good tour

I was lucky enough to be the only one on the tour and get my wonderful guide James to myself. He taught me so much about Taiwan, the history, culture and language. He is very funny and speaks perfect English. The park was beautiful and the guide took lots of great photos of me. Perfect tour!

This was a really interesting, and recommended tour however would be better on a full day. The guide was very informative and helpful and provided key details at both sites. The rock formations are fascinating and the scenic coast wonderful. Excellent value for money but could have spent much more time at Yehliu Park.

It was a short tour seeing a temple at a high spot in Keelung followed by Yehliu Park. The park is beautiful but we did not have much time to explore. Our guide did not speak English too well and it was a bit hard to understand for my American friend. Not worth just to see Keelung - might as well join another tour which lets you have more time at Yehliu Park.

Worth it, although the tour appeared short because it was a holiday and people flock the geopark.

Pickup was around 8:15. One quick stop at a Buddhist Shrine and then on to Yehliu Park. Once there, we were taken inside the park and then told when to meet back. There was no mention that the line at the queens head was quite long. By the time we walked quickly to the end of the park where the queens head was located there was no time to wait in line to take photos. We only had 10 minutes at that time to walk all the way back to the park entrance to be picked up to leave. So really the tour simply a quick walk thru with no real time to do anything. Frank seems to be more interested in checking out his cell phone that sharing any information about the area. We were back by 12 noon. So the tour is only about 3 1/2 hours with maybe 45 minutes at the Yehliu Park. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this tour.

Wow... What a great tour out side of Taipei. I highly recommend this tour. So nice being able to see the Northern Coast outside of Taipei.

The tour itself was not too bad. The first stop at the temple in Keelung was not spectacular. The stop was more for the view of Keelung Harbour from the temple. The drive from Keelung to Yehliu Geopark was quite scenic. It was a particular hot day and not really conducive to walking around the park looking at the the natural formation of the stone sculpture. The reason for the 2 stars was the coach we were travelling in had to do another tour in the afternoon. Our guide, Jack, got a taxi for us and gave us TWD150 for the fare which was inadequate to cover the fare back to our hotel. That left a sour taste.

Nice way to see the countryside outside of Taipei - bus was comfortable and James was an excellent guide. Would have liked a bit more time to go a bit more slowly, especially to see the rock formations.

They do not pick you up at the hotel and they do not even contact you. Avoid it

Awesome views! Tour group is small, which I really like. Less time spent waiting for everyone to regroup. Guide was entertaining and spoke English well.

The tour guide Jackie Chan is good. He speak English well so we enjoy his companion.

Okay tour, interesting things to see. However, if you are looking for any commentary, there is none. The driver/guide just takes you to the site and points you in the direction you need to go. So really, this is not a tour, but a ride to various sites.

Nice tour...would have rather gone solo in the morning because the crowds were out of control. However, if you only have a limited time and no other transportation, this is a great option. I like that they gave plenty of time to explore the geo park.

This trip was very nice and our tour guide very knowledgeable. But Yehliu park is definitely worth longer staying, this was really quick view.

It was my second time to have a taipei tour via viator, but this time it was disappointing._br/_ The guide could speak japanese and english so he used 2 languages. He spoke japanese for japanse tourists and english for others. It made me confused and I had to spoiled time for japanese guides._br/_ Plus, he recommended us a teashop but it was suspicious if he could have a commercial connection with that shop. I think I would never choose viator tour again.. so disappointing.

I tend to go on a lot of my tours and country visits alone so this tour was okay to do. I was staying in Taipei so the drive out there isn't too far. The guide and driver were on time. I was able to book a second tour with them right in the van to continue my day seeing Juifren. The driver took us 4 ppl in the group to different stops and then we were at Yehliu. Prepare for the crowds. Lots of people walking, pushing and shoving. The park is nice but the ocean view is better. You see fossils and shapes and then its time to go. The guide offers to stop for seafood but if everyone in the group doesn't say yes you cant go. The driver's driving is sketchy at best. Guide fell asleep often and rushed you when you were around seeing the sights. I don't regret the trip but I probably wouldn't book with the company again.

This was a very short tour. Tour left the city at around 8:30 am. We visited the Godess of Mercy, nice stop and nice view. We then went to Yehliu Park, not very impressive rocks and huge crowds. By 10:45 am the tour was essentially over. We had the option of having an early lunch or heading back. Tour guide hardly said anything on both stops, essentially left us to wander on our own. Not much value in this tour.

Nice tour with a good guide who explained us the main things aboutbwhat we were visiting. We also went to a local seafood restaurant at the end not included in the tour,

Awesome tour, bad weather but great guide who got us through crowds and puddles with a minimum of fuss, a very beautiful site
Review by: Franklin-5, December 2015
This was poorly timed. We spent a disproportionate time at the temple and the other less attractions such as the copy of the Queens head but when it came time to marvel the Queens head itself we were told by the guide that we had no time to see the attraction itself.

Very good trip. But the Chinese tourists are terrible.
Review by: Sharon T, June 2015
Convenient to get to and exit from the area with hotel pick-up and drop-off service. Guide was informative and did a fairly good job. Weather was really hot during our visit, and the park was crowded on a Friday late morning. Would have been great if tour could commence earlier, say reaching the park at 9 am.

Enjoyable trip, informative, well organised
Review by: Maria D, June 2015
The tour was very good, despite the intense sun...guide was at the hotel on time, driver was kind enough to leave us at different location. However, We thought there should be more time at yehliu park, since there was not even enough time to take a picture with the main sand structure...
Review by: Donna M, April 2015
The Geo Park was totally worth seeing. Unfortunately it was absolutely full of tourists but I was able to get some beautiful photos as our guide took us to some less popular areas. The only down side was the vehicle which was old and not very clean.

Experienced and knowledge tour guide
Review by: gary11, February 2015
It was a nice tour Walter, the tour guide was informative but I felt that it was a bit rushed. Didnt really get to explore much around Yehliu Geological Park. Only an hour was given which is not much considering the number of visiting tourists.

Nice tour except for the rainy weather, can't do much about that
Review by: Jessy, January 2015
If not for the crowds (lots of people), Yehliou park was great. Impresseive sand sculptures to see
Review by: Louisa S, January 2015
