Highlights of Israel Day Trip from Tel Aviv: Jerusalem and the Dead Sea

Tel Aviv, Israel

See the highlights of Israel in one day on an evocative sightseeing trip from Tel Aviv. You will discover the ancient city of Jerusalem, a holy site for many different religions, before enjoying a therapeutic spa visit to the Dead Sea. Few places in the world mean so much to so many people as these do, so if you only have a day to spare, make sure you see the best that Israel has to offer!

Begin with a pickup by climate-controlled coach from your Tel Aviv hotel, and travel to Jerusalem to begin your day trip. After entering through the city walls, see the famous Western Wall (Wailing Wall) which functions as an open-air synagogue for thousands of worshippers, before walking the pilgrimage route of the Via Dolorosa. Look out for the 14 Stations of the Cross as you trace Jesus' steps to the site of his crucifixion at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

After, your air-conditioned coach will be ready to pick you up, and in just under an hour you'll be at the Dead Sea for some relaxation time. Here you will have approximately two hours to walk around the mineral beach and enjoy the surreal experience of floating in the salt-rich water, 400m (1,312 ft) below sea level! Don't miss the chance to have a mud bath in the world's richest source of natural salts.

Your highlights of Israel day trip will head back to Tel Aviv, seeing the historical city of Jericho (City of Palm Trees) en-route.

Combining ancient and natural wonders, Israel's top day trip is not to be missed!

We took the day tour of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. Highly recommend! It is a bit rushed as there is so much to see and learn, but we were on a short visit to Israel and it was all we could squeeze in. Our local operator was Bein Harim. The tour guide was knowledgeable and funny, drop off and pick up were easy.

The tour explores the Old city of Jerusalem, the Eternal City. It was a profound experience, one to cherish. Driving through the Israeli landscape was also breathtaking with so many contrasts, from green fields and orange groves to the barren hills of Judea and the Dead Sea. The whole experience was enchanced greatly by our great tour guide, Yoav who was very engaging and passionate.

You get to see everything that you want! It is a great tour and would happily do it again. It just felt that we were spending time in very specific gift shops and losing time elsewhere. Our guide wasn't the best that I've had, but sufficient for group travel. But worth seeing both sites.

First of all, We appreciate and send our special thanks to our guide Amir Call Or. We were extremely pleased to be in this daily tour Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. These are holy and wonderful places to visit in Israel, but if you would like to make your visit more than a visit, i mean that if you want to FEEL not only see the around, but FEEL and LIVE amazing moments ,and have wonderful memories then Bein Harim Tourism is a perfect choice and beyond your expectations you will feel that you were gifted by such a perfcet guide Amir Call OR. We were picked up from our hotel just on time and had a perfect trip in a very comfortable bus. I emphasize it was not just a bus trip to our destinations, our guide Amir informed us in many topics, religion, history, current situation of the country etc. with his special style and humour sense. He named our group as Smiley Group we all had already Smiley Faces along our all trip. He has a huge knowledge and a very nice taste of explaining. He sometimes ask questions to make you have a different point of view, which i found very nice questions to work your mind, remember something and then you feel your mind touches that places and beyond understanding you FEEL ! That was the most valuable point from our trip, we just did not visit Israel, we did feel Israel, and had an amazing tour. We highly recommend to everyone and we are sure we will book other daily tours when we have time, in advance..we already started to plan our vacation...Smiles and Greetings, Thanks for everything.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Israel who doesn't have enough time to see everything on their own. Our guide, Itamar Buk was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable on all aspects of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and everything in between, courteous, and went out of his way to make sure each and every member of our tour was well taken care of. _br/_ The only thing I would have preferred, would have been to have had a bit of personal time to shop in the Jerusalem market on our own. However, I can understand that with a group of 50 people on our tour, and with time constraints, this would have been difficult. _br/_ All in all, for those who are visiting Israel on a limited time basis, this tour is definitely worth it.

The best tour I've done in my life, probably due to our guide Amir Cal Or. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable of the history and traditions, giving us a new perspective on how to realize his word the state of Israel and Palestine. Floating in the Dead Sea is one in lifetime experience and recommended to all. Again, look for tour with Amir Cal Or...he's the best.

The Jerusalem and Dead Sea trip is a must for any visitor to Israel. The tour guide was great, she was knowledgeable, but unfortunately the trip was too commercial for my liking. After a very interesting drive to Jerusalem including many interesting facets of history explained to us we arrived in the historic city of Jerusalem. We entered via the Jaffa Gate and took a short walk through some side streets to a tourist shop where we were all hustled in. I went to leave and was told security but left anyway as I had a stomach issue. The tour group spent 30 minutes in hear much to the chagrin of many who just wanted to see sights and historic things. The remaining parts of the trip - although interesting felt rushed and we could have done so much more had we had extra time. My plea to Ben Harim who ran this tour for viator. take out this stop in the shop, let your guests have ten minutes during a coffee break or something to buy. The stop for lunch was chaotic and poorly organised by the restaurant ....your guide was excellent and really kept us interested. _br/_ We then travelled through some changing countryside to the Dead Sea. OMG ! There must have been thirty coaches there and the locker rooms showers and bars were packed. It was not a nice experience and the Ninety minutes was far too long. An hour would have been fine with thirty minutes in the Sea with the mud and thirty minutes to get changed showered and shop. _br/_ Overall a wonderfully interesting trip but too focussed on the commercial aspect and the potential rewards that may be received for diverting tour groups via specific shops.

Tour itself was great. However, the advertisement said and #34;food and drinks and #34;. So I thought that food and drinks were included in the tour cost so I was surprised when at coffee time we were being told how much food and coffee cost at the Elvis Presley-themed shop. Same thing at lunch- surprised.

It was a just ok tour. The guide was really nice, but I felt that the whole organizing was pushing us into buying something overpriced. The place we had to have lunch was not good, and not cheap either. They also got us in the most expensive store to buy souvenirs. The beach wasn and #39;t the best one. AVG

While we enjoyed our guide and the sights, we did not appreciate being pulled into a gift shop for about 45 minutes when we could have spent that time in the city. We also got back about 2 hours later than planned, so it is a bit of a longer day than what is advertised.

Amazing! And the tour guide for the Jerusalem part, and enthusiast and well studied scholar, interesting and amicable. When you get to the Dead Sea make sure you take a swim suit and if not, buy one there. I did. Also, don't waste any time going into the water. Stay time will be short or just enough depending on how quickly you decide to immerse yourself in this great experience.

A fantastic way to see both Jerusalem and the Dead Sea in one day. Taking a guided tour is a great way to make sure you don't miss any of the points of interest along the way, thank you Itamar! After all the walking in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Dead Sea is a great relaxation. I would highly recommend this tour.

Osi was a great tour guide with lots of interesting facts and jokes. It would be 5 stars if the long stop at the gift shop was a little shorter. We sacrificed time at a few sites to make up for time spent shopping. But still worth it in my book!

I highly recommend doing the day trip from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and the Dead Sea! It was such an incredible historical and cultural experience to go one of the oldest cities in the world! Our tour guide, Amir Call, was brilliant! If you have the opportunity to pick your tour guide, you should request Amir Call. He was knowledgable and gave great insight to the culture, history, religions, languages and overall background of Israel in a way that we could understand and connect. He gave a very well-rounded outlook about Jerusalem and Israel as a whole. The Dead Sea was also incredible! Brilliant experience! I would love to do this trip again!

Tour was great. Unfortunately our guide didn and #39;t contribute much. He spoke way too much. Didn and #39;t give us time for lunch in 7 hours. Had us stop too many time to tell us rambling disjointed stories. Nobody in our group was comfortable but we also didn and #39;t want to be rude so we just rolled our eyes.

Well organised and interesting day trip, and Zahi was a superb guide. About four hours walking around the most important sights of Jerusalem, lunch, and then to the Dead See for about one hour and half. It was an early start from the hotel 7:00 AM pickup from the hotel, then to the meeting point, and finally around 8:00 on the bus to Jerusalem, back at the hotel around 19:00, but well worth it.

Our tour guide Amir C Or was the main reason this tour deserved full 5 stars. He was funny, very knowledgeable and an incredible story teller. Jerusalem was amazing, the Dead Sea was too hot so we could not stay too long in the sea

Review by:   Madhulika P,    June 2016 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
Though the guide was ok..the whole trip was rushed. We stopped by at a shop for over 40 mins for shopping ...everything in that shop costs at least 3 times the cost on the streets. We were told we are going to Muslim shop as they are minority and they need help. Sure, but that shop or the guy did not look like he needed more money,,rather the smaller sellers on streets...later we were taken to a restaurant , which is also was expensive and owned by the same guy who owns the shop !!! wasted 2 hrs in total. Do not recommend. Rather take other service like rent a guide.

Review by:   Kyle W,    June 2016 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
In Jerusalem they didn't leave any personal time, every moment was with the group. Also, didn't like that we were expected to only shop at one particular store and eat lunch at one specific spot. The Dead Sea was a good experience.

The only reason I did not choose 5/5 stars is because no one mentioned that we should have worn pants to be able to visit the Church of Holy Sepulchre. They made a point to note to bring towels and swimwear for the Dead Sea portion but no mention that we might be chased out of the church for wearing shorts by the Orthodox priests. Otherwise, our tour guide Amir was great. He was so informative. He was like a living encyclopedia of information and was very much a pleasure to listen to during the tour.
