Stanley Park Bike Tour

Vancouver, Canada

Cycle away from the urban noise and disappear into the woods on this 3-hour bike tour of Stanley Park. Explore the sights at a relaxed pace: First Nations totem poles in Brockton Point, Lost Lagoon, and the unexpected oasis of Third Beach, among others. Look out for bald eagles, and pedal the paved Seawall path for beautiful city and mountain scenery. Along the way, learn about Vancouver’s historical roots in the logging industry and the park’s rich ecosystems from an expert guide. This small-group tour capped at 12 people is sure to please riders of all experience levels.

Head to a bike rental shop in downtown Vancouver to begin your 3-hour exploration of Stanley Park, a temperate rain forest spanning 1,000 acres (405 hectares). You’ll get fixed up with a bike, helmet and lock during a safety briefing. Nature lovers and biking enthusiasts of all skill levels will enjoy this tour covering nearly 6 miles on bicycle-friendly city lanes and park trails.

When you’re ready, follow your guide’s lead into Stanley Park, bounded on three sides by the water. Cruise along the park’s perimeter Seawall, a paved bicycle path that affords stunning views of Vancouver’s skyline, the North Shore mountains and Burrard Inlet. There will be enough stops to snap pics, and learn about the city's beginnings as a logging town.

Check out the Lost Lagoon, a former tidal flat transformed into a bio-filtration marsh. Hear about the critters, including bald eagles, herons and river otters, that call the area home. There are 15 bald eagle nests in the park; keep your eyes peeled for these majestic birds soaring overhead.

You also get the chance to admire the Brockton Point totem poles, the most-visited monuments in British Columbia. The artistry, unique to the First Nations, provides fascinating insight into the history and culture of the area.

For more nature, venture off into forests of Douglas fir and discover a rain forest, a salmon stream and Beaver Lake. In the center of the park, look up at a 700-year-old cedar tree, a living example of what first attracted explorers to this part of the New World.

Wrap up the tour with some quiet time over at Third Beach, a secluded stretch of sand surrounded by trees at Ferguson Point, before pedaling back to the bike rental shop to return your gear.

Nick was a great guide to take us on a bike ride in the city to Stanley Park. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Our guide, Ken, was outstanding! He was fun, informative and attentive to the different ages and abilities of the riders on this tour. It's a very manageable ride - you stop frequently to see the sites and there's really only one challenging hill. The tour is a great way to see the city and learn a bit about it. It was the best thing we did on our two day visit to Vancouver.

We had a fantastic time cycling through Stanley Park, the suburbs and waterways Our guide Lisa was very knowledgeable and made the bike ride fun. It is the best way to get a brief glimpse into Vancouver and get fit at the same time. Highly recommend this tour.

This tour was fantastic, and Amanda, our guide, was great! I would definitely tell you that you have to be in good condition to do this tour. You need to be a bike rider and be able to stay up with a group. If you can't do that, you shouldn't choose this tour. If you can, sign up! It was great!

Our Guide Kate was excellent. Her knowledge of the history of Stanley park was very very good. It wasn't a hard ride either.

Great way to see the city- our guide was knowledgable and the bikes were in great shape. Only thing I could add to it was that they should have provided a water for each bike- it would have been a nice touch. Stanley Park was worth the time and the visit!

Our family of 5 loved this bike tour. Stanley Park was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The views of the water, mountains, and then the trek into the rainforest were wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and nice. There isn't much history to speak of in Vancouver, so don't expect it to be the same tour you would get in Rome, but the views and exercise are worth the trip. It was a little slow read - boring at first just because we were still in the city, but hang in there, because it gets much better. And the company was very accommodating to our 7-year old little girl, who rode behind in a tandom/ tag-along, which was perfect. Our 12 and 15 year olds were easily able to keep up - this was not rigorous, but had a nice pace. Bike tours are the best way to see a city!
