Victoria Castles and Neighborhoods Bike Tour

Victoria, Canada

Weave your way along Victoria’s atmospheric streets by bicycle as you learn about the history of British Columbia’s charming capital on this 2-hour tour. Explore neighborhoods like Fernwood, Chinatown and Cook Street Village; cruise along picturesque bike paths through parks such as Beacon Hill and Moss Rock Parks; and pass by the glistening waters of the buzzing Inner Harbour. See Craigdarroch Castle, one of the tallest totem poles in the world and Victoria’s famous breathtaking architecture. This ride will show you why Victoria is one of the most bike-friendly and most livable cities in Canada.

Meet your guide and pick out a cruiser bike that’s a good fit, strap on your helmet and embark on a 2-hour journey exploring Victoria’s flat to rolling terrain. Pedal your way through the city’s diverse landscape and neighborhoods while listening to your informative guide detail the history behind the iconic buildings. Downtown, you’ll cruise along the bustling Inner Harbour, where you’ll watch seaplanes come in for a landing on the glassy waters. Then you’ll venture through the iconic Gates of Harmonious Interest, the entrance to the second oldest Chinatown in North America. Victoria’s Chinatown is a designated National Historic Site.

Decide for yourself if the beautifully eerie Craigdarroch Castle is truly haunted or not. The historic, 39-room, Scottish Baronial mansion, built in the late 19th century, has made star appearances in movies such as Little Women.

Relax on the leisure paths through Moss Rock Park and along the scenic Dallas Road waterfront. In Beacon Hill Park, you’ll see a totem pole that towers to an astonishing 127 feet and 7 inches (39 meters); when it was erected, in 1956, it was the tallest in the world. See what local living is like in quaint residential neighborhoods like Cook Street Village, which is lined with overflowing horse chestnut trees and small mom-and-pop shops.

Gaze at the old houses and tree-lined streets that fill Fernwood, one of Victoria’s most charming neighborhoods. It’s home to many artists and families that congregate in the dynamic community square, giving this area a pulsing sense of character and a touch of quirkiness.

When the tour ends, your guide can recommend great local restaurants for lunch on your own.

I have been meaning to write this since October! We like to start off our vacations with a bike tour and Steph, our tour guide, did a great job giving us an overview of the city. The weather was picture perfect and we ended up the only two on the tour. Steph was an amazing tour guide who was well informed, pleasant to be with, answered all of our questions, referred us to great restaurants. Although we rode on main streets throughout the city, we always felt safe. The ride is mostly flat, but we covered a lot of ground and got a feel for the city layout so we could later explore on our own by bike and foot. Victoria is a beautiful city and we would highly recommend this bike tour!

This was our 4th Viatour bike trip. Large group and being on city streets w/large group single file was important. Our group leader had been a theater major meaning her presentation of material was excellent once we stopped. Those ar the front of the ride got a lot more out of the tour. When I requested that perhaps she let those in front give those at back a chance up front and nothing happened I realized we weren't going to have the same experience we have had on other Viatour trips. The bike were great ... easy to handle and comfortable!

My daughter and I took this tour and really enjoyed it. Our tour guide Kaitlyn was amazing. Very informative, keeping a eye on all of us. 8 in our group. I had been on a bike in 27 years and was good with it. Victoria is a beautiful city. Will definitely go back.

A great cycling tour reasonably well paced and enough hills to make you feel as though you had at least done some exercise. The Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Victoria and made the tour very interesting. Highly recommended.

This was a wonderful bike tour. Not very strenuous which we knew going in, but still fun. Our guide was great and we got to see more of Victoria than just the downtown area.

We arrived late to Victoria with all our suitcases and in a panic. We rang the tour provider and explained the situation and he kindly told us to keep coming with our luggage and they would wait for us and store our cases. That was fantastic. We are so glad they did because the tour was well worth it for us. It gave us a wonderful overview of Victoria and it is just such a gorgeous place. The guide was great and very knowledgeable. My husband who is nearly 70 struggled a bit with the hills but our guide was very patient and waited for him to walk and catch up. Would definitely recommend this tour even if your nearly 70! There are only a couple of hills otherwise quite easy riding.

This was an excellent activity and one of the friendly owner/staff we have experienced. Quality bikes, awesome views, beautiful scenery, good detailed history provided and the guide maintained our slow pace which also allowed us to look around more. It was never rushed or felt business like, more like a family outing on bikes. Will repeat whenever back in Victory BC._br/_ Kyle and Joni _br/_ Dallas TX

Carly was awesome, we personalized the tour a little by our interests in the horror stories so we got to visit a cemetery by the ocean! We loved the easy-going nature of this tour and wished it was an hour longer because we just enjoyed it that much!
