When your ship docks in Victoria, stretch your legs on a stroll through Butchart Gardens. Walk on stone paths through a storybook land of perfumed blossoms, streams and lily ponds. Stop by showstoppers like the sunken garden, Japanese- and Italian-inspired landscapes, and the Ross Fountain. On your provided transport to Butchart Gardens, listen to live commentary about its origins as a quarry. This tour includes admission and a choice of several return shuttles during the summer, allowing you to enjoy the gardens at your leisure.
After port pickup, head to the majestic Fairmont Empress Hotel situated along the Inner Harbour. At the hotel you’ll board a shuttle that heads directly to Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay, located about 35 minutes from Victoria’s downtown.
En route, listen to live commentary about the history of the gardens. Dating back to 1904, the former quarry site has since been converted to 55 acres (22 hectares) of manicured grounds, with stunning floral displays that change by the season and amaze nearly a million annual visitors from all over the world.
When you arrive at the gardens, you can explore at your own pace. Stroll through themed areas such as the sunken garden, rose-blanketed pathways, springtime flowers, the summertime dahlia walk, the vibrant red and gold colors of fall, and the Japanese-inspired winter garden.
Enjoy different floral scents as you make your way down stone walkways and through sweeping lawns of colorful blossoms. Several restaurants are located on-site, making it easy to take breaks and purchase snacks.
During the summer months, don’t miss Butchart Gardens' evening illuminations, when thousands of lights of varying intensity and color cast a magical glow upon the grounds. If you visit on a Saturday night from July through Canada’s Labour Day weekend, you’ll be treated to extravagant firework displays.
When it’s time to leave, board a shuttle that takes you directly to the cruise ship terminal for your convenience.
