It was great. Enjoyed the scenery. The guide and driver were very good. We enjoyed the Lakes area before Salzburg and Salzburg was awesome. We were going to go on the walking tour but the tour guide just kept on prattling on and on about the history of the place back to the stone ages. We just wanted to go an see the Sound of Music Places etc and were not overly interested in Mozart. We found our way around and had a really good time. Some others on the tour wished they had done what we did as well as they found the Mozart not as interesting as Sound of Music.

This tour was a waste of money. It was really only your transportation from Vienna to Salzburg - you would be far better to get train tickets and do it yourself. If the price reflected just transportation we would not have been upset - but we felt we paid much to much for what we got. There was a guide but she was not very good - she would point things out after we had already passed them. We were split into groups in Salzburg and the guy we got there was even worse.

Beautiful city, but the tour could have been much better. Our tour guide was very rude and discriminatory right from the very beginning he was referring to families based on their ethnicity, which I thought was very inappropriate making the tour very uncomfortable from the very beginning. The group was also way too big and I think splitting the group up would have been more effective. I would have honestly given this tour one star if it wasn't for Salzburg's charm. Go with another tour company or even a private tour I heard the price difference is not that much. I went with this company specifically since they had so many reviews, but I was very disappointed.

The journey was amazing. They step through small towns that have amazing views of mountains and lakes. Totally worth the trip. Also visiting close to Christmas time of the year makes it more spectacular.

I want to start by saying the tour guide was absolutely lovely and quite knowledgeable. HOWEVER - I felt like the tour was rushed, there were not enough stops along the way and sometimes it was hard to know exactly what the guide was trying to point out to us as we zoomed past the sites! The tour group was so much larger than I expected with some 50 people on the bus. It makes for a very different experience from some of the day trips I've done in the past. Some of the knowledge shared was clearly outdated i.e. Mozart was buried in a common grave not because he was a pauper at the end of his life, but because of an edict from Emperor Joseph II, who tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to simplify burials within Austria. I know that we had to travel a long distance from Vienna to Salzburg, but I really think that if we'd had a smaller tour group, this would have allowed for more stops speed of getting on and off the bus and that we could have enjoyed the experience a lot more. Next time I'll just take the train from Vienna to Salzburg 290km, or rent a car. Having done a similiar distance Edinburgh to Inverness - 291km on a tour bus, I know that they could easily make this tour more worthy of the high price I paid by adding more stops and making it smaller and more intimate.

We were then given ample time to visit any of the sights of interest before heading back to Prague. Well worth the long day.

It was truly fascinating to experience the locks first-hand by actually sailing through them. I think this is the best way to visit the Panama Canal. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it got a little hectic on the boat with all the passengers pushing up front to get a view.

This is a great tour but be prepared for a lot of bus time. Four hours to get there, four hours in Salzburg and four hours to return. We thought it was worth it as we saw everything we wanted to see and had a great meal at one of the many restaurants.

The tour guide both the regular and the local were both informative and helpful. Salzburg and surrounding area was beautiful and its nice to have a few hours on our own to explore after guide showed us many of the notable areas. The only thing I would ask to change is to reduce the stopover time, especially on the return. Most people on the same trip as us would have only wanted a 10-minute stop as opposed to 40 minutes so we could get back to town earlier after a long day.

Initially intended to go independent but vey pleased we chose this tour. Picked up promptly at our hotel and transferred to comfortable coach with excellent tour guide, trip included a short tour of Austrian lakes and a walking tour of Salzburg, we had enough free time to explore this extremely beautiful town having been given a great deal of information from our guide. A comfortable drive back to Vienna arriving at 20.00hrs. Rest stops on route both ways were very good.

Not worth the expense. The guide was not very interesting. The bus journey is very long and in hindsight taking the train runs frequently between Vienna and Salzburg and exploring the town independently would have been much more enjoyable. Remember to carry an umbrella as we were told on the bus that it rains frequently in Salzburg. Our guide took us to a shop selling umbrellas and most of us ended up buying umbrellas there.

After our tour bus arrived in Salzburg, we were split into English speaking group and were assigned to a tour guide name Paul. We were extremely disappointed with how Paul handled the tour and other tourists on our tour felt exactly the same way. The tour guide was very poor in his communication skills and he did not show any interest to find out what people want to see. He was extremely boring and spoke in mono tone with heavy assent that most people did not hear or interested in what he said. He was like taking a leisure walk himself. He did not show us the landmark of The Sound of Music. He did not even mentioned any of the sites of The Sound of Music. When we planned out this trip, we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and were expecting the tour guide to show us the highlights from the The Sound of Music. This was the purpose of our trip. After an 8 hour round trip bus ride, we felt we did not see what we expect to see and it was a total waste of time and money and we were not satisfied at all. The tour guide had really spoiled our whole trip. We have to say this was the worst tour experience. We sent email to support at Viator to file the complaint and receive no response. Very disappointing with their non-responsive customer service.

This was good but primarily because of the city itself. Salzburg is a jewel and well worth seeing. Our guide was not the best though and my family actually broke away from him halfway through and just rejoined for the bus trip back. He was not engaging and almost boring. He also shared inappropriate political views that was a turn off to us. I would go to Salzburg and this tour could be the way to do it but the guide does make a big difference. If I went back, I'd just go see the city on our own and take more time.

This day-trip was definitely worth it. The views were beautiful on the way to Salzburg, and the free-time was just enough time to pick one or two things that we wanted to see on our own. The stops on the way could be a bit shorter to give more time in Salzburg.
