The River of Golden Dreams (officially Alta Creek) in Whistler features the epic scenery of British Columbia, best seen by boat. This 3-hour guided canoe tour during summertime provides views around every bend, including old-growth forest and wildflower-lined banks. Take an enchanting journey while you paddle from Alta Lake to Green Lake, departing from Carleton Lodge.
Check in 15–30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at the Carleton Lodge in Whistler. From here, you are transferred by bus to Alta Lake, roughly 5–10 minutes away.
After learning a few different paddling strokes, start your canoeing adventure across Alta Lake. You will be accompanied by a guide who makes the journey in a separate boat. Pass by the original site of Myrtle Phillip's summer fishing resort and follow alongside families of ducks and geese into the lush river mouth. You'll paddle through flowing lilies and around bends of overhanging greenery along the aptly named River of Golden Dreams.
Flowing with the creek’s current, you can lounge lazily along with just a few strokes to steer through its narrow passages. As the river opens up again on the other side, you'll get picked up on the shore of glacier-fed Green Lake and transferred back to the lodge.
