Very fun tour, about a hour bus drive from Rotorua. A beautiful setting which makes you want to see the movies again. You get an pale ale or cider in the Green Dragon which is good but they only gave us 15 minutes in the crowded Shire gift shop which was disappointing.

Wow, can't say enough about this tour. Hobbiton set is amazing, guide was great, plenty of time to take photos as we walked around. Bus driver didn't allow us any time to shop for souvenirs at the end of the tour so was VERY FRUSTRATING. We actually had to make an itinerary change to go back on our own. Also, Tucker, our bus driver, was very nice but was falling asleep during the drive back to Rotorua. I had to keep talking to him to keep him alert. He crossed the center line a lot! It was scary.

Well organised. Interesting commentary from coach driver en route to location. Good commentary and interesting information and detail provided by tour guide. Time provided to take lots of photos. Overall, good value for money, but it is packed with coach tours so limited time to look round at end of tour, but there is time allowed to stop at the souvenir/gift shop selling mostly poor and tacky items.

Outstanding! I can't fault it. The Hobbiton village is so beautiful. Much larger than I expected and appears fully functional with vegetable gardens, washing on the clothes lines, flowers everywhere, I think there are 39 little houses, a pub and wheelhouse and lakes. I was gobsmacked. It was perfect because we also had fantastic weather.

A great tour, magical location, good guide plus masses of photo opportunities from this beautifully kept and maintained spot. Plus a drink in the Green Dragon at the end. Highly recommended

Very cool tour. I do wish that it was a little slower and that there were less people. We loved it though!

We enjoyed the Hobbiton tour a lot! Emily gave us a lot of interesting details about the set. The only thing I would have changed is the size of the group...42 tourists crowding around one guide made it difficult to hear her. I think 20 would have been a more realistic number to comprise a group.

The Hobbiton Movie Set was amazing. There were more Hobbiton doors than I had expected. There was also a complimentary drink at the end of the tour. Recommend travelling to the venue on your own if possible as the premium for the travel from Rotorua cost quite a bit.

We really enjoyed our visit to Hobbiton. Our bus driver was fun to talk with, our guide was awesome, the scenery was breathtaking, and the village a lot of fun. Our time in the Green Dragon Tavern was the cherry on top... lots of fun.

Excellent tour, prompt pickup and transfer by well informed, humorous and courteous driver._br/_ Tour guide was very knowledgeable, helpful with photographs and patient with stragglers while moving the group through the set._br/_ The Hobbiton Movie Set was an excellent venue, much better than we expected, very good value for money and we would highly recommend it.

I loved this tour! I think I could have lived on this set it was so cute!_br/_ Our guide, Sonny was brilliant. He was only young but knew everything there was to know and even quoted some lines from the LOTR films._br/_ At the end of the tour we were all treated to a beer in the famous Green Dragon pub!

The movie set was fantastic and there were lots of fun NZ tips on the drive up however, there seemed to be some confusion when we first arrived on the bus. We ended up sitting on the bus for a solid 15 minutes while the driver was chatting with some tour guides below but we were never told how long we would need to wait or what was going on. The free beer was a nice treat too. I wish we had had longer to sit and enjoy it. The tour was absolutely worth it in the end though!

Whether you are a huge fan of LOTR or not, the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour is well worth the time and money. The staff was energetic and entertaining and the set itself is maintained as though hobbits were really living there. Definitely should not be missed.

Watch the movie, do this trip then watch the movie again. The director and #39;s eye for detail is appreciated when the guide briefs you how they went about it.

I had an awesome time!! The day I went it was meant to rain and so it turned people off going as it was quiet there... but it was a glorious sunny day!! I did the first trip of the day option and it was perfect and the free included pint of beer/ale/alternative non-alcoholic at the end in the green dragon was a perfect finish. Thank you :

This was a great trip, Hobbit fan or not. Guide Hannah? was very knowledgable and added to the event._br/_ You need to book in advance to ensure you get there, especially if you want to do the evening one where a meal in the Green Draggon is also part of the trip._br/_ Highly worthwhile

Fantastic experience at Hobbiton, although we had thought there was a courtesy pickup from dock included, wording was obscure, this was from Rotorua only if booked, needed a hire car to get there as is an hour away.Made it back to the dock with 5 minutes to spare.Could have been better informed.

Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand. The small group was a good way to spend the day. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining and an excellent driver. The seats in the vehicle need new padding as our butts were sore from the bouncy splish, splashing thru the waterholes, and thru the river...the scenery was spectacular and beautiful. The opportunity to do the reenactment with Hobbit capes and hold swords on location added to the fantasy. Definitely appreciated the skill of our driver, Jenn- especially up the crazy road to Skippers Canyon. Lunch restaurant was ok. We were extra lucky because three of our group only took half day

The tour itself was awesome as was our tour guide. The reason I'm giving it only 4 stars is that the company had a miscommunication about our hotel pick up. The day before our tour, I called the number listed and spoke with someone to make sure our hotel one of the ones they pick up from. I was told yes and that the bus would be there between 8-8:20am. We were waiting at 7:55am in the hotel lobby because it was very cold outside. The lady behind the front desk even called at 08:00am to confirm the time and location of the our pickup and was told the same times and location as me and that the bus was on the way. By 09:00am we still had not been picked up, so she called again and was then told that No, we don't pick up from that hotel, in our system it says our pick up is at the information center in town. They offered to pick us up at the information center in town for the afternoon tour but we already had other plans. So, they added us to the morning tour for the next day and told us to walk to a nearby hotel where they do pick up people. The thing is that in order to get to the main room from that hotel, you'd drive past our hotel but suddenly at some point between the conversation at 08:00 and 09:00am they don't/won't stop at our hotel. I would say double check to make sure your pickup location but that didn't exactly work for us. So, good luck.
