Join other adventure seekers and become an apprentice grave digger on an entertaining tour through the darker side of Boston. A scary, fun and informative frightseeing experience that is truly one of a kind.
Step aboard the trolley of the doomed and join your host, a 17th-century grave digger, cursed with a sentence of eternal damnation. This wretched creature is doomed to travel the streets of Boston and relay the stories of the unfortunate souls he encountered and the macabre events he had been witness to during his purgatory.
Hear about Boston's most sinister characters - from the Angel of Death to the king of all killers - the Boston Strangler. Learn about all the haunts that call the "Hub" their home. But that's not all! Step inside two of the oldest burying grounds in Boston for a walking tour you will never forget. Learn the significance of much of the imagery found in these 17th century burial grounds and the famous and not so famous (but even more interesting) occupants therein.
Visit Copp's Hill Burying Ground in the North End, nestled atop the tallest point in one of Boston's oldest historic districts. Here you will visit the final resting place of Cotton Mather, a man famous for his "intimate" involvement with the Salem Witch Trials. Then to the Granary Burying Ground where you will visit the final resting places of many of the famous heroes of the American Revolution including John Hancock, Paul Revere and Samuel Adams.
Remember that half of the tour is walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended (so you don't become "dead" on your feet)!
This was a fun time! Entertaining tour guides, and interesting historical info.

Apart from the fantastic costumes of the guides and the odd picture on the trolley bus, there was no reference to Ghosts, the Graveyards were interesting to a point but I expected a bit more 'Ghost' as well as Graveyards, it was a few days before Halloween after all! The local streets were spookier.

I found this tour very boring! It just wasnt to my taste! The graveyards were difficult to negotiate in the dark. Thank goodness for torches on mobile phones as they were in constant use. Found the guide hard to understand and trying too hard to be funny. _br/_ The tour lasts 2 hours and I couldnt wait to leave after an hour and a half. _br/_ Sorry but tour wasnt to my taste........

What a fun way to spent an evening! Lily, our guide was absolutely historical and historical. The feeling of being in the cemeteries at night, going through the locked gates was so different from our walk during the day. Learned about significant gravestones, patriots buried there and how many more bodies were there with no marker.

I've been to other graveyard tours and they seem to be more fun. This one, we walked into two graveyards, so dark you couldn't see anything!
Review by: Kami L, October 2017
The narrator/guide was tooooooooooo loud. I had to cover my ears on most of the drive...and after had an immense headache. The climb to the graveyard was hard - I am 65 and bad knees...I was always the last one - one time she said to me - You are always last! - Gee, sorry. There should be notice that there is a lot of walking and hill climbing._br/_ The next day - in the light - we saw the 2 graveyards were very close to each other...we wondered why we had to drive so much around the city.

This tour was really good. Stella was a great guide and even had to deal with some very unruly older couples! Handled it like a boss. Carried on.

This was the adventure we were all looking forward to the most and so glad we saved for last. This was so fun and our guide Betty was amazing. We learned so much about the haunted history of Boston and best of all, we laughed like crazy. My favorite part was screaming at people on the streets. OMG so much fun. I highly recommend you go on this tour, you won't be disappointed.

I think kids would enjoy this more but some of the jokes and discussion were on adult themes. Essentially we went to 2 grave sites. The actors were excellent and really tried to entertain. Sometimes they were over acting. I would not do it again. We went as as a family: mom, dad and 3 adult boys. The boys thought it was OK.

This tour was excellent. The guides were all in character and made the event even more fun. They had lots of tales and tidbits to share. I would definitely do this again. Highly recommended fir anyone that likes ghost tours.

Our tour guide was great, telling us lots of stories with the history behind them all.

Great tour! So funny!! I loved the tour guide we had and hearing the stories of the morbid history of Boston. I read reviews about other people complaining that it wasn't scary- but it isn't supposed to be. If you want to be scared, go to a scary movie or haunted house. This was very educational, but done in a very entertaining way. It was probably my favorite thing about my weekend trip in Boston, but I happen to love the macabre.

This was supposed to be a Ghost tour. The guides tried to be funny and it ruined the experience.

I felt it was a waste of money. The tour guide was informational, but the tour overall was a flop.

I picked the 9:00 PM tour because I thought it would be better in the dark but the 7:00 PM time would have worked just as well. One warning: this tour requires walking, sometimes up hill. My wife struggled a bit with the walking part. Fiona, our tour guide, was most entertaining. Regaling us with ghost stories. We visited two graveyards and the Boston Commons where she told us the truly amazing life stories of some of the people buried there. At the Commons we were joined by the other tour group of the night and lead to Granary Burial Grounds where we were told to go towards the light. Once we were all in the tour guides closed the gates a left. Shortly, we were met by the ghost of one of the inhabitants of the cemetery. She introduced us to the graves of some of her fellow inhabitants and told stories of their lives and their more recent appearances. Our tour guides returned to safely escort us back to our trolleys. On our way back to the Long Wharf, Fiona told the most haunting story of all: the story of the Boston Strangler.

Was a fun couple of hours. Even when something didn't go to plan he made it fun. Some really interesting facts made it some times hysterical.

Nice tour but it is too cold during the night. Also, there is no Bathroom stop during the entire two hours tour. You probably should consider add a restroom stop during the tour.

Our female guide was hysterical and sarcastic and full of fun. Our group of 10 learned a great deal of Boston history in a truly entertaining setting. Loved it! Great way to celebrate my birthday.

Our guide on this one was very much into his part. a lot of fun even with all the rain we got out at the first cemetery but were too soaked for the second one. What we saw was fun and scary in the dark with the tombstones and look of old graves. Stories he told really made the mood for the cemetery.
Review by: Karen D, October 2015
It was turning dark as we began and the air was chilly. Our guides, dressed in period costumes, got everyone in the mood, not to mention scaring the poo out some of us . We saw two cemeteries with tombstones dating from the 1700's - including Paul Revere's. Excellent and fun narrative. No one should miss this!
Review by: Lita S, October 2015
The tour guides were good but we expected it to be scarier.

This tour was good, everyone was nice and in character, Had great information but not like I envisioned it. Not scary at all if this is what you were looking for. Nice trip though

What fun - what amazing information - what amazing 'actors'. Our guides were something else! Scared my granddaughter and she loved it! The facts brought to our attention were very interesting. We went at 7pm which as far as I'm concerned, was the ideal time. You could still see everything, and it was just getting dark. I will recommend this to anyone travelling to Boxton

Traffic in Boston is very congested. You spend most of your time sitting in the bus listen to ridiculous ghost stories. Went to 2 cemetaries in an hour and a half which were 2 blocks from each other. Spent 5-10 minutes listening to more ghost stories. A complete waste of time.

I enjoyed the tongue in cheek scary humour of the Boston Ghosts and Gravestones Tour ... lots of chilling tails of suspicious, tragic or horrid deaths ... great costumes, great atmosphere ... there were a few younger children on our tour (about aged 10) and they had a fantastic time too ... Bring a pair of gloves as it gets a little bit nippy ... but that just adds to the gruesome experience ... A good laugh and a good time - thanks.
