Budapest Folklore Show with Dinner_br/_ The pick-up from and return to our Hotel worked well. The concept of holding a folklore show and dinner in an old cellar was very appealing. Unfortunately, this event was a bit disappointing. The cellar utilized is long and very narrow with bench tables lined up along each side of the cellar with a narrow passage in between. The show was performed essentially at one end of the cellar and difficult to view by most patrons due to this seating configuration. The night we attended mid-June the temperature there was unpleasant due to poor air circulation. The meal - by necessity of the number of patrons, was batch prepared for quicker distribution. However, the standard of food could have been improved. Plenty of house red or white wine was available and included with the meal.

First we were told pickup at hotel would be 6:15, but when they didn't come, we called and time was really 7pm. Show was average. Dancing not bad but difficult to see as the room is long and narrow, so stage is a long way away. Goulash soup was good, but rest of meal so-so. Given brandy on arrival that was awful. Worst part was when the quartet came to serenade at each table and were very aggressive about getting a tip--leaning over you, holding out money for change. The evening with poor food, poor venue, did not need extra cost to tip the musicians! Not the greatest evening.

We visited the Folklore show with dinner in Budapest 5 adults, the food was average - not relay Hungarian except the Gulash soup._br/_ This is a very nice vine cellar the show is at one end of the place so if you are not sitting near to the performers its hard to see or hear._br/_ Not recommended.

Our group was small, but friendly. Our guide/leader, Ildiko sp?, was friendly, knowledgeable and fluent in a number of different languages. The restaurant and its staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was of very good quality--and quantity! Because we had some time before we were due to arrive at the restaurant, we appreciated that Ildiko had the bus driver take us into the hills of Buda to get a breathtaking view of the city lights far below.

This event was well orchestrated from hotel pickup to hotel return. The venue was fun. The private room to the side was better than being in the larger hall. We had our own musicians who played the entire dinner. The lead violinist was VERY good. The dancers were what you would typically expect. The meal was tasty and they generously placed entire bottles of white and red wines on the tables. Over 30 years I have from time to time booked viator tours in several countries. I would consistently rate them 4 to 5 stars.

Fun, good authentic dishes, and great entertainment. You can have as much fun as you want. Great bang for the buck.

This was held in an old wine cellar , we had 5 different nationaliies on our table of 10. Our host Helena spoke 5 languages. A delicious meal of soup, lentils chicken pork and potatos plus loverly little dessert cakes.Accomopanied by cellar produced white and red wine. Traditional Hugarian music and dancing was very livery and colourfull. Finally after coffee were taken up catle hill for beatifull night views of the Danube. Tanks Helena for a wonderfull night.

The tour guide, Stephan Tall Guy, was outstanding while the show was good and the dinner was OK. However, Stephan, made the whole experience outstanding. Why? For an English tour his English was good to the point of understanding humor. He took on a tour of the town on the way to the dinner and gave us a night tour on the way back that few tourists are able to see. Besides my wife and I, there were two other couples in the van. We all thought his experience was outstanding. While showing us around town and pointing out the significance of various sites, he explained the history of Hungary and Budapest. He is very proud of what Hungary has accomplished since their freedom from communist rule.

The evening started with a taxi picking us up from our hotel. He couldn't speak English and didn't seem to know who he had to pick up. He took us about half a kilometer to where we had to transfer to a coach. Sat there for half an hour while the organizers seemed in a real muddle. Our English speaking tour guide was hard to understand. Evening entertainment started slow but improved as the night went on. Food was average but the staff where pleasant.

We were a little concerned with the small group size for this dinner - one other couple besides ourselves. However, once at the restaurant there proved to be a sizable enthusiastic crowd for us to join. The band and dancers performed tirelessly and, at times, included some of our fellow diners up front and in the merriment. The food and drinks were very good, and at the end of dinner, we felt well pleased with the whole experience. Afterwards, we were taken up Castle hill to see the beautiful lights of Budapest. All-in-all, a wonderful evening.

Very nice experience after we finally heard from the right tour company...even the local tourist information did not know who was_br/_ offering this tour and the name given by Viator was NOT correct. Viator is not very good at giving contact information to these local _br/_ tour companies...we should have the correct names of the local companies as well as full address/location and email addresses if any. Our phones don't always work perfectly in these countries.

The show in itself is very good. What was not very good is that the musicians played, for a long time, Jewish music for a Jewish group. Nothing against Jewish music, but we were in Hungary and had paid to enjoy Hungarian music. If we wanted to listen to Jewish music we would have gone to Israel. As we did some years ago. _br/_ The dancers presented a nice show, the dance floor being small, there were only four of them. Pity. _br/_ The food was good, Hungarian to a point. I was expecting Apple Strudel or Palacsinta for desert, instead of chocolate mousse which I get home and better. Quantity plentiful, no limit on wine and beer. _br/_ Overall a pleasant evening, the price was not excessive considering the Hotel pick up and return and the nice detour to get a beautiful view of the city by night.

We had our folklore show and dinner earlier this year and will never forget this amazing experience. We were met as arranged and travelled through the streets of Budapest to our show destination. The driver was friendly and efficient with a good sense of humour. We had a great table for dinner with good visibility of the folklore show. The show itself was fantastic and despite being very tourist oriented it gave us a real sense of folklore dancing and partying in a relaxed and very vibrant atmospheric surroundings. The dinner provided us with good food that was accompanied with delicious wine. A great night all around
