Our personal guide was Julia, a 27 year old girl from Sibiria, now living in Moscow. I can repeat what I said o her at the end of the day: You made our day a great experience. Without you we would have been totally lost. By that I mean: We had already seen the Kremlin and the Red Square, and wanted to see something else. So Julia suggested a realtively new museum right outside Moscow: The museum of the great fatherland war, the second world war. The best history museum I have ever seen, and I have seen many of them. The sound, light and pictures about some famous battles made you feel you were there, e.g. the final battle of Berlin in April 1945. This museum should be part of all Soviet history tours.Lots of interesting souvenirs in the museum shop.Then later we visited The pavillion of the republics of the Soviet Union from 1937, in the city centre, and tased some Armenian brandy in the Armenian pavillion. It was also impressive, but the whole area is under reconstruction. A big Lenin statue is still standing there, and hopefully it will still be tehre after the reconstruction. The air and space museum is more suitable for children and younger people we think. To find your way in the metro is difficult for a foreigner, but together with Julia it was no problem. Moscow is a beautiful city ans its history is great. If you visit those historical places you meet the past and see the future.The guide was great and told us a lot about Russia and Moscow.
