The best tour I ever had. The tour guide was amazing and full of fun and knowledge. The time spent at each place is sufficient to sink in the beauty and importance of the place but less if you are interested in going inside each monument.

I have used Viator a number of times and have always been very pleased. However, I do not recommend this tour. Traveling by bus from Munich to Salzburg takes a great deal of time. As a result, the tour is very rushed once you arrive at Salzburg. In route to our destination, the tour guide handed out maps of the town. She sat in the little chair beside the bus door to explain where things were located on the map...she was out of sight as she explained the map. I, along with others, had a hard time understanding what she was pointing out on the map. We arrived in Salzburg only to be told by our tour guide that we were running late and would not be able to spend a lot of time touring. She told us that we could either venture out on our own once we exited the bus, or we could go with her for an orientation tour. My husband and I chose to go with the tour guide. She quickly walked to Mozart Square, pointing in different directions as to places we could explore on our own. We had approximately an hour and a half to walk around Salzburg. Next, at meeting time, we once again boarded the bus to travel to a boat ride on Wolfgang Lake. Along the way our guide talked rather randomly about the Sound of Music, but we never actually saw or stopped at any of the places where the movie was filmed. She pointed to a church across a lake and said that was where the Captain and Maria were married in the movie. The church was across the lake from where we were! The boat ride was pleasant, and the little village of Wolfgang was beautiful. However, we only were given 30 minutes to explore the town....an impossibility! We boarded the bus at 4:00 PM to head back to Munich. We ran into extremely heavy traffic returning to Munich, and the tour guide and bus driver appeared to be very frustrated, and actually very agitated at one another. They were speaking in a language other than English, so I cannot determine what they were saying. However, we all looked at each other because it sounded like they were arguing! The tour was advertised as an all-day tour, but it seemed like the travel time was at least half, if not more, of the tour time. I had been looking forward to this tour for our entire trip to Europe, and I was extremely disappointed. I did not see any of the things from the Sound of Music, and the entire tour was rushed and confusing. I do not recommend this tour to anyone.

If you have an extra day this is such a great tour! Salzburg is beautiful and the Lake District is a please t surprise. While the weather was not the best became cold and rainy we made the best of other. Ursula was a great tour guide. So energetic throughout. Very fun day!

It was a huge day with lots of information and countryside covered over the day. Salzburg was amazing with all the xmas markets. People very welcoming. Tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable._br/_ DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!

This tour is not so much a Sound of Music tour, but when you're walking around Salzburg, you'll recognize a lot of locations that were settings for scenes in the movie. Lots of free time in Salzburg to walk around without the group, and really enjoyed the boat tour on Lake Wolfgang.

Disappointed with the tour. Really just a coach ride and little organised at the other end. Guide slept most of the way home. Everyone just had to fend for themselves in a foreign place to most.

Salzburg is really lovely BUT if you are unable to do the lake districts in winter then I honestly believe it should be mentioned up front . _br/_ Otherwise it was lovely .

The tour guide is not licensed in Austria and wasn't useful at all. All we got out of the trip was a bus ride there and back. Just take the train, save some money and avoid the traffic.

This tour actually is a visit to Salzburg, Austria only. They do not take you to the actual Sound of Music locations big instead tell you how to get to them on own. There is a short tour by a guide into the main area of the town and then you spend the day on own in town. I liked Salzburg

Glad to have seen Salzburg but we did not see much Sound of Music stuff, and nothing of the Lakes at all. The guide said you don't go there in the winter, which should have been made clear on booking. We were held up for a long time by an accident on the autobahn which shortened the time available for exploring the city. The guide made a very determined and competent effort to give her commentary in both Spanish and English but a single language would have been preferable for all. Presumably numbers were not sufficient.

No lake tour. Little Sound of Music reference. Tour guide was knowledgeable but rushed us through the so called tour. If you couldnt keep up with Ursula ,you would have been left behind. We basically ran through the streets for. 30 minutes and then dismissed for the next 5 hours. Take the train instead. Very disappointed.

Salzburg is amazing! The ride out was comfortable, and the tour guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She gave us all a run-down of the most interesting parts of the city before letting us loose to poke around wherever we wanted. As I went in winter we did not actually visit the lake district, although it would have been freezing and probably not much fun anyway I'd love to go there in summer -- and I really enjoyed Salzburg, so probably not much of a loss.

The primary language for this tour was Spanish even though I selected my language preference as English. The tour guide was a native Spanish speaker and repeated most but not all of her comments in English. From what Spanish I do know, I could tell that she was giving more information in Spanish than in English. We also found out after boarding the bus and departing Munich that the entire Sound of Music and Lake District portions were cancelled due to the winter season. The tour guide said that we should have been notified of this before booking the tour. We were not. Instead, we were offered a 45-minute walking tour mostly in Spanish of Salzburg and then a free day in Salzburg. We passed on the walking tour due to the language issue and the very large group. The only thing that redeemed the day for us was that we were traveling with a friend who had been to Salzburg before. At the end of the day, we paid for a full day tour with a professional tour guide and received little more than overly expensive transportation to and from Salzburg.

Was a interesting tour but our guide gave very little information regarding the sound of Music and significant land marks etc. Map was hard to follow but salzburg and the lake District part of tour was very nice and we didnt regret doing the tour just would of liked more info about the Sound of Music as that was our main reason for doing the tour. They played the movie on the way back in the bus but got back before the end......Driver also smoked near open door of bus which was annoying
