Great trip for a first time stay in the DR. It took you to quite a few places to learn the history. Worth the time.

Very informative half day trip into the heart of DR. Got to visit a real Dominican home and meet the owners Elias. The nicest man ever, he even pulled out his guitar and sang a song for us. The drive up the mountain and the typical Dominican lunch was awesome! Our guide Andy was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun.

This is a great experience that I wish we could have done before all others. The tour and education behind the adventure is truly enlightening. You will get to see touch, touch, taste and participate in the culture and learn the life of everyday average people. I would recommend that you put this tour at the tip of your list and make this an experience of a lifetime. I say go and submerse yourself in the culture and make this tour first on your list!

Unfortunately I can't give an accurate review of this tour because there was a problem with my reservation and we were put on a different tour. Didn't get to go on Mega truck.

Attrape-Touriste!!

Can't rate this trip as we didn't go: It was extremely difficult to get a departure/pick up time of the local organisers. Once we got this, they arrived to pick us up one and half hour late. By then we were doing something else and weren't able to join.

If you want to learn about the culture in the Dominican this is THE tour for you. We absolutely loved getting out and seeing places that were beyond our resort! Andy was a great guide and answered all of our questions. And our driver was amazing -- I still have no idea how he navigated all those hills and steep declines.

The Mega Truck Safari tour was fantastic. The lunch provided was good but not a lot of variety of food choices were offered.

A fascinating, fun and educational day spent traveling through and stopping off at places surrounding the Punta Cana region in an open back truck. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire day and would recommend this trip to anyone. Youll learn about and sample the produce of the region. Everything from roasting coffee and cacao/cocoa, cigars, sugar cane, vanilla, pineapples, bananas, mangos, homemade chocolate and much more! Youll also have a chance to sample the famous mamajuana liquor and maybe some pineapple wine! With options to purchase some locally produced co-op things to take home. The plantation is incredible! It also had wonderfully clean WC facilities.

It was extremely well done. My 86-year-old father chose this excursion and it was just what he and we wanted. Comfortable, well-organized and a fascinating insight into Dominican life. Glad we could contribute to the school we visited. Bring books, pencils, whatever a school might need. They will be most grateful.

This was a really nice tour of the jungle and what all the types of chocolate, coffee, and fruits and vegtables are grown there. Because you walk through a real jungle, I would never recommend that anyone wear bright clothing or shorts or flip flops (as some did), because the jungle contains mosquitos. My son, who wore bright clothing, shorts, and flip flops got bit 13 times. I guess he was trying to look "cool". I - on the other hand - have had experience in jungles, where I wore long jungle-type pants, a black long sleeved shirt, and real shoes and never got bit one time! I would rather be bite-free than "cool". Other than that, this tour is well worth the money and extremely educational. "Kenny" the tour guide really went out of his way to make everyone very comfortable and welcomed, plus he has a great sense of humor! Good stuff!!

This tour was shorter than they had it listed and you do a lot of driving. I highly recommend bringing plenty of school supplies for the school kids as they are in great need and it was nice to see the look of joy on their faces. The places we went to were nice to see no high pressure sales it just seemed like we spent more time driving that anything. All in all not a bad tour our tour guide was ok.

This was the best excursion we took BY FAR. Kenny was awesome and made sure everyone had a great time. This excursion was a great way to see how the local people live and get a chance to sample the local crops and cuisine. We passed several other safari trucks during the day and none of them seemed to be having as much fun as our truck was. Make sure you ask for "Uncle Kenny"!

We really enjoyed this tour. Luis, Victor and Jay really enjoyed their jobs which made everyone feel comfortable. It was an all day tour which included a lot of history, met local people, got to taste samples and the lunch was good._br/_ We would recommend this tour but wear sneakers, sunscreen, bug spray plus the ride is bumpy.

Our trip began by getting picked up at our resort which was very nice. Kenny, our guide, greeted us and announced to everyone on the safari that we were going to be like family for that day. So "Uncle Kenny" started in with the stories, information, and fun! We were so fortunate to get to drop some things off at a school. The classroom was very crowded, but they are building a new school right next door and it's much larger! A stop at a local family home showed us their kitchen, bedrooms, living areas, and we chatted with Thomas, the 83 year old patriarch. When we got out next we got to see sugar cane, vanilla, coffee, cocoa, and pineapples being grown! We were given samples of most of them. Great! We saw how to roll a cigar and some people tried them. They were flavored! We saw rice fields on our way to the ranch where we had lunch. Lunch was amazing!! The food was delicious! Kenny kept us laughing and singing together. We had the privilege to stop at a beach to swim and walk in the beautiful sand. Julio was our driver and he did a wonderful job driving those roads, but it was a very bumpy ride. We were given water to stay hydrated, which we appreciated! Also, they had some rum they mixed with Sprite or Pepsi, and shared this several times throughout the trip. This trip really opened our eyes as to how the people in the DR live. Kenny and Julio were so gracious to assist us getting in and out of the truck. We just can only say good things about the Dominican Republic Mega Truck Safari. Hope you get Kenny and Julio when you go!

I will start by saying that this is a GREAT tour for anyone who doesn’t mind the outdoors and wants to see and learn more about the beautiful country and culture of the DR. Just be prepared for a LONG day full of activities and a VERY bumpy ride. We got to see the school (kids were on summer break), a traditional home, the processing of coffee, etc., horseback riding and swimming at the beach, so don’t forget your swim suits as we did. However, in spite of all that we stayed on the bus where the bus driver kept the beer and rum flowing. This is also where you are going to find the BETTER DEALS on any items (coffee, vanilla, etc.) you may want to bring home. Just be sure to sample it before you buy. Our tour guide Alex was GREAT! Very informative and made sure that everyone was taken care of. While I highly recommend this tour I will say that we had HORRIBLE customer service upon scheduling our pick-up when we arrived thru Nexxus tours. They scheduled p/u at the wrong hotel, blamed the mix up on us and made us take a cab to catch the bus at the next p/u without compensation. If it wasn’t for Alex scheduling the pick-ups for the rest of our excursions (which is not in his job description) I’m not sure we would have been picked up for the rest of our tours.
