Abu Dhabi Desert Morning Safari: 4x4 Dune Bash, Camel Ride and Sandboarding
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Enjoy three exciting desert activities on a 4-hour morning safari from Abu Dhabi that's timed to beat the desert's fierce heat. Head through the desert to a Bedouin-style camp and enjoy a white-knuckle 4x4 dune bash. Climb up and skid down the dunes as your driver spins the wheels, and then return to camp to enjoy two other adventures. Ride a camel and tackle the dunes with a sandboard to glide and slide down the steep sandy slopes, snowboarder-style.
Start your morning experience with a pickup from your Abu Dhabi hotel. Meet your driver, who doubles as your guide, and hop inside your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for your journey into the desert around the city.
As you travel, watch Dubai's futuristic skyscrapers melt into the desert landscape, and hear about the morning’s itinerary from your driver. Then, arrive at a Bedouin-style camp complete with tents, cushions and carpets, and set off on your 4x4 adventure. Feel your adrenalin race as your expert driver takes you on an exhilarating dune bash, climbing up the slopes, pausing, and then sliding down the ever-shifting sands. Thrill as the wheels slip and skid, and then return to the camp to refuel with some complimentary refreshments such as water and soda.
Feeling refreshed, try out some other desert activities — both traditional and modern. Climb aboard a camel and feel like a true Bedouin as you ride over the sands. Absorb the views from your elevated perch and master the camel’s rolling gait with help from your guide.
Try your hand at sandboarding, one of the desert’s most popular sports. Grab one of the supplied sandboards, and after a safety briefing, surf your way down the dunes. After enjoying the three activities, travel back to your Abu Dhabi hotel, where your experience ends with a hotel drop-off.
Please note: the order of activities as described above may be subject to change on the day of your tour.
It was a fantastic ride. With a super friendly guide. And fortunately without having to take with the belly dancer!

Avoid! l3 hours in length including pick up/return . 7 seater 4WD we were picked up last so were squashed in the two rear seats. My seatbelt was broken . Driver gave no commentary. The sand boarding hill wasn and #39;t steep enough for anyone to get the boards moving. Camel ride was a 50 metre led circle

Very ordinary tour that lacked fun and surprise. Expensive. The driver/guide was just going through the motions most of the time. The and #34;dune bash and #34; was monotonous and uninteresting, with so-so scenery. The camel ride was all too brief.

I was disappointed that I did not get a private safari for me and my friends. It was rather awkward having a stranger join us. The guide was not willing to wait and let me finish my breakfast at the hotel as I was never told a specific time to be ready. The 4x4 dune bash was fun but anything more than 15 min. was too much. My friends were getting motion sickness and needed to rest afterwards. I didn't bother with the camel ride as I've already done that in Qatar and Egypt. The sand boarding was something new to try but they need to fix the boards. Some of them were not bolted down securely enough for safety reasons. It was unbearably hot before 11 a.m. and we were ready to go back to the hotel.

Excellent value. My tour guide was great and this safari was a lot of fun. I would do it again next time I am in Abu Dhabi. Don't miss this one. All 5 stars all the way.

Good to get out of the city for a few hours and do something a little bit different. The 4x4 dune bashing was fun, but the camel riding and sandboarding weren't great. The camel ride was about 200 yards in a circle and the sandboards were just lying there and we were told to just have a go. Would have been better with a bit of instruction. Not a bad way to spend a few hours, but could be improved.
