Adelaide Super Saver: Adelaide City Sightseeing Tour plus Barossa Valley and Hahndorf Tour

Adelaide, Australia

Over two days, see Adelaide’s major city-center attractions, plus visit the town of Hahndorf and South Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley! Ideal for first-time visitors to Adelaide, this 2-day tour package combines two best-selling Adelaide tours and represents a saving of 20%. The tours highlight the scenic countryside surrounding Adelaide and include wine tastings, a winery lunch and the option to take an Adelaide river cruise and see the giant pandas at Adelaide Zoo. Once you have completed the first tour, you have six more days to complete the second.

Day 1: Adelaide City Sightseeing Tour (3 hours)
Get to know Australia's 'festival city' on a full morning coach tour of the city surrounds, with the option of including a river cruise and a visit to Adelaide Zoo to meet the giant pandas. You’ll visit the North Terrace with its mix of historic and modern buildings and uncover the city’s past through its memorials, statues and plaques.

Take a stroll along Rundle Mall, Australia’s first shopping street mall, see Colonel Light’s Lookout, named after the founder and town planner of Adelaide, then head to the beach and the quaint town of Glenelg.

No trip to Adelaide would be complete without a visit to Haigh’s Chocolates (closed on Sunday). Relax with a cup of tea or coffee while sampling the region’s finest milk and dark chocolates.

If you take the option to cruise the Torrens River, enjoy a 40-minute journey on the city’s beloved ferry service, the Popeye, first launched in 1935. The cruise takes in views of the city center from the water, and stops at the Adelaide Zoo, where you also have the option of meeting the giant pandas!

Wang Wang and Funi are the only giant pandas in the southern hemisphere and the first to live permanently in Australia. Visit the state-of-the-art exhibit to learn more about pandas and how they survive in the forests of China today.

Day Two: Barossa Valley and Hahndorf Tour (8 hours, must be taken within seven days)
Combine the German flavors of Hahndorf and the fine wines of the Barossa Valley on your day trip from Adelaide. Leaving Adelaide, the day trip takes you through the leafy green Adelaide Hills, only 30 minutes away from the city yet so far removed from the big-city bustle.

Stretch your legs at Lyndoch, the gateway to the Barossa Valley and enjoy morning tea (included). Next, you’ll continue through the old mill town of Woodside before visiting two Barossa Valley vineyards to sample the region’s fine wines. Lunch is served at Keaslers Winery restaurant, where you can sample more Barossa Valley wines and gourmet regional produce.

End your day with coffee or tea and a German streusel (own expense) in the tranquil German settlement of Hahndorf, filled with the atmosphere and aromas of old Bavaria, before returning to the city.

The offer of this combination tour was excellent. Everything went according to plan, and pickups were well organised and went smoothly._br/_ Martin the driver and host on the Barossa Valley tour was fantastic. He was friendly, funny and very knowledgable.....a great guy._br/_ The included lunch was excellent, very well presented and a very sociable part of the day. Unfortunately, the wind and rain at Hahndorf was unpleasant but it's a lovely quaint town with fortunately plenty of coffee shops and warm places to go into. The art galleries were really interesting......would love to go in the summer._br/_ The sightseeing tour was also very worthwhile with another very knowledgeable and friendly guide.

Both these tours were very good. The guides were very knowledge about the history of Adelaide. The wineries were very good. Hahndorf was interesting with the German flavour. The guide made sure the group stayed together when needed

The river cruise was a waste of time and money. The guide was only doing it because it was a job. No enthusiasm at all. the rest was not too bad.

Adelaide City Sightseeing Tour was a waste of time. We drove round the city one could have taken the city free bus as the commentary was routine and boring and had one stop at St Peters. The church was beautiful so worth a visit. We did not visit Colonel Lights Lookout nor did we drove out to the coastal town of Glenelg - both were on Viator's itinerary but not on the Adelaide Sightseeing Day Tours brochure on the bus. Visit to Haighs Chocolates was just for people to buy chocolates. Two stars for Adelaide City Sightseeing Tour.

The tour was excellent the guide was very informative about the history along the way. The meal at Barossa Chatuea was delicious. I would recommend these tours to anyone. The coach was very comfortable.

Really enjoyed this tour. The city sightseeing was good and the trip to Barossa Valley excellent. Enjoyed the commentary from the driver. My expectations of Hahndorf were not met but otherwise a great day out.

The Adelaide City Sightseeing Tour was excellent. Lots of important sights in the city were pointed out in the tour. We enjoyed the cruise in the river and were dropped off at the zoo. The only disappointment was not seeing the giant pandas which were not on display that day.

Good orientation of the city and some history. Would have liked a winery tour of how it worked but the tastings were fun

The Barossa Valley and Handorf tour was amazing. I loved it. Phil was the guide of that tour, he did a great job on this small group tour. I would recommend it to anyone. On this tour you go to a couple wineries and each winery does something to make every experience unique. The sightseeing tour, well that is a different story. The tour does not really show you anything that you could not see on the free tram throughout the city. Save your money! For sure go on Barossa Valley and Handorf tour, just don't book sightseeing tour.

We enjoyed both of these tours. On the City sightseeing day the Haighs Chocolate Factory was unexpectedly closed so that was disappointing however for the rest of the time everything else went smoothly. I am glad we added the river cruise when booking... The time on the boat went quickly however it was probably the most enjoyable part of the first day for me. This was a good introduction to Adelaide.

Review by:   Susan W,    September 2013 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The City Sightseeing Tour is only average. It's dominated by the visit to the chocolate factory, where the factory 'tour' involved being shown a cocoa bean and having a glimpse at the factory through a perspex window. Took about 5 mins. The 'chocolate tasting' involved being given a couple of chocolate buttons and a 10% discount voucher. The 'coffee' which was meant to go with the 'tasting' was a coffee machine in the corner of the shop which the driver mentioned but we were never shown. Just a means of getting people to buy their chocolates it seemed to me. The driver left laden with his own huge bag of chocolates which I found a bit suspicious. Overall not up to par.

Very enjoyable and informative 2 day tour. Both driver/guides were entertaining and provided much more information than you would obtain by going to these places on a private trip.

Review by:   Doug Y,    January 2013 Review: 4 star rating: Recommended
Adelaide is probably not the most exciting city on the planet, so the optional river cruise was probably the highlight._br/_ The Barossa tour was pleasant, if a little long and Hahndorf was quite nice._br/_ The driver was excellent, very well informed, and endlessly courteous, doing his best with the material
