Barossa Valley Wineries Tour with Tastings from Adelaide

Adelaide, Australia

Explore the Barossa Valley on a full-day wine tasting tour that includes visits to four wineries, a delicious lunch, and stops at the Whispering Wall, the town of Tanunda and Mengler's Hill Lookout. Visit renowned wineries such as Chateau Yaldara, Peter Lehmann and Langmeil Winery to taste a variety of wines from both new and established producers. Your knowledgeable guide shares behind-the-scenes facts about the valley with your small group, giving you insight into the legendary winemaking region.

Start in the morning with pickup at your Adelaide hotel, then leave the city behind as you drive into the Adelaide Hills aboard a deluxe minicoach.

Disembark at your first stop of the day, the Whispering Wall. One of South Australia’s more unusual attractions, the wall is most famous for its incredible acoustics. Stand on either end of the wall, which spans 500 feet (150 meters), and say something to someone standing on the opposite end. You'll be amazed at how sound travels.

Continue to your first winery destination, Chateau Yaldara. After a tasting of the chateau’s reds and whites, head to the township of Tanunda.

Take a walk around quaint Tanunda before driving to the outskirts of town to visit Peter Lehmann winery. Enjoy sampling a variety of their excellent wines while relaxing inside the handsome stone building that dates to the 1880s. Afterward, tuck into the mouthwatering goodies such as locally sourced cheese, cured meats, breads, produce and more.

Walk off your lunch by strolling next door to Langmeil winery, home of the oldest known shiraz vineyard in the world. Three Barossa Valley locals bought the neglected winery in 1996 and have since fully restored it. The staff welcome you in for a relaxed wine tasting in their rustic tasting room.

As you make your way to your next destination, pause at Mengler's Hill Lookout for panoramic views over the Barossa Valley. The fourth and final winery will be something special. Your guide will pick something to suit the group size and time of year.

Throughout your tour, your friendly guide and winery hosts share their insider knowledge and personal touch, creating a truly memorable Barossa Valley wine tasting experience.

Great time with great company! Went alone, came with bunch of people. Tour quide Russell was great, and day was lovely in total. Had good wines, but would have expected more stories about them on last two places also.

This wine tour tastings from Adelaide was truly enjoyable from the moment we were picked up to the time we were dropped off._br/_ Ashlee the Tour guide was knowledgeable of the places we visited and provided entertaining narrative and history of the wineries and the wine makers. _br/_ The wines we tasted were of good quality although my palate didn't agree with some of the wines, some of my fellow travelers did preferred the wines my palate rejected to some of the wines I bought. So there was taste for everyone._br/_ The wineries we visited were full of history and we were even able to walk from one winery to the next which we all appreciated . The buildings have been kept well or renovated and made us all fill welcome._br/_ The Antipasto lunch was light and enough to keep us all going. Very Happy to recommend this tour.

I liked to visit the smaller vineries and most of the wines were really good! But it could be even better if they could tell more about the whole wine making process and the difference between the grapes.

It was a fantastic day, the wineries were great, the driver was very knowledgeable about the wineries/ landscapes and towns of the Barossa Valley .The scenery was beautiful driving through the hills and the towns of the Barossa. Chateau Yaldara winery stood out for me as it had absolutely stunning gardens/scenery and nice wine too! Overall it was a great day and was a very relaxing day. It was a long day but was all worth it.

Great tour! I forgot our guide's name unfortunately, but he was very good, knowledgeable and fun. The wineries we went to were all very good, scenic and each had a unique location/setting. Lunch was a little light, consisting of finger foods of bread, cheese, olives and meats. Would recommend getting a pie in the short town stop before lunch to satisfy your hunger.

Great day tour to the Barossa Valley. Very professional driver, very personable and informative. Arrived on time and saw that everyone was well looked after. _br/_ Visited four good wineries...only complaint was that we thought lunch could have been a little better. We were served cheeses, bread, cold ham and salami, olives and some nuts. All very fresh but could have included a bit more._br/_ Overall, though, a very enjoyable day.

This was a very relaxing day for my wife and myself. The driver entertained us with descriptions of the history of the area and the different wineries visited and then of course there were the actual visits to the wineries. My wife and I slept very well that night. It was also a very intimate trip with a small bus. We got to know the other travellers on the bus: four members of a Swedish family, a visitor from the USA, and a lovely more mature gentleman from Sydney who had recently lost his wife. All in all a very enjoyable day and I would highly recommend this tour.

It was ok, the wine tasting was good but let down by the average lunch. A few more dollars on the cost and a superior lunch and it would've been great.

Excellent tour!! Our guide was on time and the bus was very comfortable. The tour guide was very knowledgable about the area and offered some great ideas for restaurants and other things to do and see in the area. The choice of wineries was excellent, we had a great time at each winery. For wine tastings the pours were very generous The only complaint I would have was that the lunch at Peter Lehman winery was not really a lunch to me. It was more of an appetizer and wasn't very satisfying. The food was delicious but just not enough for the amount of alcohol we had been consuming. That is the only thing I would change.Thank you for a great time.

The day began by being picked up by Russell who was friendly, efficient and professional the entire trip. We visited four wineries, enjoyed a nice lunch and received an education on wine in the Baroosa Valley. We were delivered back to our hotel after our wonderful day with Russell in the Barossa Valley. We highly recommend this tour!

Absolutely loved this tour. It was wonderful to sit back and enjoy the scenery while listening to our very knowledgeable guide explain much of the history of Adelaide and the Barossa Valley. The wines were wonderful and we had adequate time at each tasting to enjoy the wines and ask any questions. Beautiful countryside and the weather was perfect.

John was a great tour guide, very prompt and well versed in the industry for many years. His worldly knowledge was excellent during the trip, but would have liked to have heard more from him._br/_ The cellar doors were a good variety, however they were all too rushed, without any real insight about the wines we were tasting or what sort of flavours/years might be best for them.

Fabulous day out. Our tour guide JR was both entertaining and informative and made the trip really enjoyable. Good mix of people, all ages and nationalities._br/_ The winery's were great particularly Peter Lehmanns fun tasting Murray Street informative and Langmeil relaxed and generous, able to chose the wines you wanted to sample. We were a little disappointed with Chateau Yaldara the sample size was miniscule and didn't give you the opportunity for a proper tasting. _br/_ All in all a great day despite the weather!

The Barossa Valley Wine Tour was terrific. We visited four different wine producers and sampled their wares. A brief description of their respective wines helped us to better understand the nuances of the various tastes. The lunch at the second winery was fun--various cheeses with bread and crackers and several different sausages. It partnered very well with the wines in the Valley.
