McLaren Vale and Glenelg Tour with Wine Tastings from Adelaide

Adelaide, Australia

Visit the renowned McLaren Vale wine region for wine tastings and more during a half-day tour from Adelaide, with a stop in pretty Glenelg on the way back. Travel with an experienced guide and small group to Rosemount Estate and Lloyd Brothers Wine for two wine tastings, then have time to check out other wineries and boutiques on your own. Stop in Glenelg to take a short beachside stroll along Gulf St Vincent before returning to your hotel. This small-group tour, limited to 20 people, ensures a more personalized experience.

Meet your guide in Victoria Square to begin your afternoon tour with a 45-minute drive by comfortable minicoach to the internationally renowned McLaren Vale wine region.

Stop into two wineries for wine tastings, starting at the award-winning Rosemount Estate. Surrounded by rolling hills laced with vineyards, Rosemount’s tasting room offers great views to enjoy while you sip wines provided by the friendly staff.

Continue to Lloyd Brothers Wine and Olive Company, a family-owned operation which is known for cultivating shiraz grapes and kalamata olives. Sip their fine shiraz wines as you learn about three generations of business. Afterward, you can browse their gift shop, which carries wine, olive oil, body care items and other handcrafted products.

After two wine tastings with your small group and guide, have time to explore on your own along the main street in McLaren Vale. You can enjoy another wine tasting at Hardys, a heritage-listed winery that started in 1857. Or try samples of an iconic Australian candy called FruChocs at their factory; you can even watch the tasty treats being made. Chutneys, nuts, and other treats can be can be found in a 1920s train carriage called the Almond Train. Nibble on tastings of a variety of regional products including gourmet almonds, olive oils, sauces, chutneys and jams. Or simply relax with a cup of coffee and soak up the atmosphere of the pretty town.

Return to Adelaide via Glenelg, a quaint seaside town located only six miles (10 km) outside of central Adelaide. Enjoy time for a short walk along the beach before returning to Adelaide for drop off at your hotel.

If you would like to stay longer in Glenelg, you can return on your own by tram, an easy 20-minute journey aboard the last remaining tram line in the region.

Lots of fun and lots of great wine! You get PLENTY of wine to taste and option for some snacking food. Our guide, Dave was thoroughly entertaining and very informative, not just about the wine, but also about Adelaide. We had a good group of people from Norway, England, US, and some Aussies as well. Cheers!

Great tour with enthusiastic and knowlegeable guide. We packed a lot into the afternoon but it didn't feel rushed. The bus was small and comfortable and the atmosphere was personal. Great itinerary with variety not just wine tastings - I'm not really a wine person but I really enjoyed this trip.

Great time on a rainy day! Was pouring so the group elected to just drive through Glenelg, which was disappointing as that was in large part why we chose this particular tour. But what we saw was great. The group was small and very friendly.

We only had a limited time in Adelaide, so this tour was a great way to see beyond the city. We visited three top quality wineries, which were welcoming and very generous with their tastings, and it was great value for money. Dave was a superb guide - friendly, knowledgeable, passionate and a lot of fun. And he went above and beyond the call of duty to return my husband's mobile phone, which he'd left at one of the wineries - fantastic customer service!

I had a great time on this half day tour. The driver was funny, informative and very personable and professional. We had a good group of people who were all having a good time. The 3 wineries were very good and I learned a few things about the wines from that area. I would highly recommend this tour and driver. The whole booking process was easy as well. A very good experience overall.

Amazingly good value. It was a wonderful experience. McLaren Vale is a hidden gem. Dave, our guide enhanced the trip with his knowledge, personality and his ability to take a group of strangers and make us feel like old friends. The wineries he chose were all interesting but different. You did not have to be a wine buff or drink copiously to get enjoyment from the experience. I cannot recommend tbis trip highly enough.

Tour was amazing and our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable. The vineyards selected for this tour were Lloyd Brothers, Hardy and #39;s Tintara and Angove. All excellent and we ended up buying from all. Views enroute were spectacular! Dare I say better than Barossa! Would definitely recommend!!

Dave was an excellent guide. Super passionate and knowledgeable about Adelaide and South Australia. He took us too 3 very different wineries from the boutique Lloyd brothers to the more established Wirra Wirra. Fiinished up down on the beach in Glenelg for sunset. Great value at 60/head

This was an excellent tour of three wineries of different styles and temperaments. I highly recommend this more intimate half-day alternative to the bustling Barossa.

Nice tour through Adelaide Hills and McLaren Valley, 3 wineries, food platter provided in the last one, which is located in a superb setting. Hassles with finding pick up point because Viator didn't provide Tour Operator name or specific location in the large Victoria Square.
