2-Day Uluru (Ayers Rock), Camel Farm and Kata Tjuta Trip from Alice Springs

Alice Springs, Australia

Experience the wonder and mystery of Uluru and Kata Tjuta on a two-day tour from Alice Springs. You'll see all the highlights of Uluru (Ayers Rock), including the unforgettable sights of an Uluru sunset and sunrise. You'll also travel by luxury coach and stay at your choice of budget, standard or superior accommodation.

Day 1. Kata Tjuta, Walpa Gorge and Uluru Sunset
Depart from Alice Springs and travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges with stops at a camel farm, where you have the chance to ride a camel (own expense) and a great vantage point to see the majestic Mt Conner. This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue by coach to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will escort you to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide points out some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see Aboriginal arts and crafts.

Late in the afternoon, travel to sunset strip where you will enjoy a complimentary glass of wine as you admire the spectacular display of light and color as you watch an Uluru sunset.

Optional Aussie BBQ Dinner
After sunset, a guide will transfer you to the exclusive barbecue site. The site is within the Uluru National Park, outside the Uluru & Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre set amongst red sand dunes and desert oak trees providing a peaceful desert setting. The site is located far enough away from the resort lights so that there is a clear view of the stars in the southern sky. Once at the site, you will be served a variety of Australian meats and salads, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine, beer or orange juice (menus are subject to change). After dinner, you will be served tea, coffee and dessert and your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky, describing and pointing out some of the visible constellations with the assistance of a high beam spotlight (weather permitting). Your guide will also explain some Aboriginal stories that relate to the stars before you return to Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 2. Uluru Sunrise, Mutitjulu Waterhole
Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta.

In the afternoon you will be transferred to Alice Springs.

Please note:
There is no opportunity to purchase food while on tour. Please arrange with your hotel to have breakfast earlier or to provide a breakfast box to take with you.

Great trip. We enjoyed Uluru,Kata Tjuta and the camel farm. Very short ride on the camel but was still fun. I would stay one day longer at Alice Springs. Long way for two days.. But well worth the trip.

It was a long journey from Alice to Uluru but our driver, Dave, was informative as we travelled which helped the journey no end. The coach was good and the air con superb._br/_ The camel farm was not at all interesting to us but the tour of Uluru was enlightening

Our visit to Uluru was all we hoped for and more. The long bus rides were punctuated by excellent information provided by knowledgeable driver/guides. The sunrise and sunset experiences were superb and very spiritual in feeling. The accommodations (we received an upgrade) at Ayres resort were first class as were the people in the hotel and shops in the town center. We would recommend Viator to all travelers desiring a well organized 2 day tour.

Bus drivers were great but didn't feel it was worth the money.

The driver/tour guide was well informed and looked after travelers very well. He also had extra water on board to fill drink bottles when required, which is a necessity when travelling in the outback.

This is one of the best trips we've ever taken. The organization was great and the bus driver/tour guide's comments throughout he trip were quite informative. The scenery was magnificent.

We enjoyed the trip, and the accommodation at Desert Springs Resort was very nice, better than we expected.

The trip was extremely good, and in particular our driver had an incredible knowledge, both self taught and researched, of the Aborigine people, their culture, and their customs. We were, however, disappointed with The Sails in the Dessert, because it took us nearly two hours to get checked into our room, which left us with only fifteen minutes before we were being picked up again. In addition, we would have liked to have seen Kings Canyon, which I believe would have been feasible had a little more thought gone into the planning of the trip's timetable. Overall, it was an experience we will never forget and will be pleased to promote your tours to our friends when they visit.
