3-Day Alice Springs to Alice Springs Tour Including Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru

Alice Springs, Australia

Explore Australia's Red Centre on a 3-day camping tour departing and returning to Alice Spings. You'll visit Kings Canyon and enjoy a hike through the red dome sandstone domes, visit Kata Tjuta, and see the sunset over Uluru. Rise early the next morning to watch an amazing sunrise before embarking on a walk around the base of Uluru. You'll travel by a comfortable 21-seat air-conditioned bus, camp overnight in swags under the outback sky, and your experienced guide will make sure you have lots of fun along the way.

Day 1: Kings Canyon (L, D)
You will be picked up from your Alice Springs accommodation at 5:30am. Your first destination is Kings Canyon. Enjoy a 3 hour hike through the sandstone domes of the Lost City. Visit the Amphitheatre, North and South Walls and have a swim in the Garden of Eden. Next stop, Curtin Springs and set up the bush camp for your overnight stay. Your guide will prepare a healthy camp-oven dinner. Relax around the fire then curl up in your cozy swag under a million stars.

Day 2: Kata Tjuta & Uluru Sunset (B, L, D)
Feel the spiritual significance of the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta. Your guide will show you some bush tucker along the hike before heading to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you can listen to tales from the Dreamtime. You will then go on a guided Mala Walk and spend the evening enjoying dinner at the spectacular Sunset over Uluru. Witness the awesome sight of Uluru changing colour as the sun sets. We spend this night at the Ayers Rock Campground with toilets and showers.

Day 3: Uluru Sunrise (B,L)
Take in a memorable Uluru Sunrise over the world’s largest rock. You then have time to complete the Uluru Base Walk. Take in the spiritual significance of Kantju Gorge, Mutijulu Waterhole and Aboriginal Cave Paintings. We stop on the way home for an optional camel ride. You will arrive back in Alice Springs at approximately 5:00pm. Back to civilisation, get cleaned up and meet your guide for dinner and a couple of beers (at own expense) at The Rock Bar at 7pm.

Very nice and beautiful tour. Interesting. Super guide. A very touching story about Aboriginal life. A bit frightening insects. : Beautiful.

It was a great tour. Our tour guide was Ange and she was the best - a real superwoman! Be prepared for very early rises but it and #39;s worth it. Meals are simple but sufficient, and the pace is not too hectic, fairly reasonable.

This tour was ok, it followed a similar itinerary to the others of similar value in the area, but the food was a joke. In the evenings it was a cooked meal that wasn't too bad. However, the lunches and breakfasts were terrible. The first 'lunch' was a badly made sandwich a couple of thin slices of cheese and a square of ham with an apple. The following two lunches consisted of the following presented in its original packaging, i.e. in tin cans and plastic bags: two tins of tuna, two tins of sliced beetroot, a tin of sweetcorn, a bag of lettuce, a bag of cheese, a bag of sliced ham, a bag of bread wraps. Not only were they served up in the cans and bags, but they were served on the second day particularly in environments where there were hundreds of flies. The food instantly became black with flies and in order to eat it, we had to scrape it out of the tins along with the flies which then went onto our flatbread.
