Private Amman City Sightseeing Tour with Optional Arabic Mezze Lunch and Turkish Bath

Amman, Jordan

Experience ancient and modern Amman on this private 4-hour city tour! Settle into a private, air-conditioned vehicle and witness the fascinating different sides of Jordan’s bustling capital. View King Abdullah Mosque and the Coptic Church in front of it, the well-preserved Roman amphitheatre; explore the ruins and archaeological museum at the hilltop Citadel; and see the downtown markets, coffee shops and stalls that sit side-by-side with smart residential districts and modern malls. For a taste of traditional Jordanian culture on top, upgrade to include a delicious Arabic ‘mezze’ (small dishes) lunch and maybe even an invigorating Turkish bath experience as well!

Start your tour with a pickup from your centrally located Amman hotel. Relax into your private, air-conditioned vehicle with your knowledgeable driver and set off on your tour.

Head first for one of Amman’s most impressive sites, King Abdullah Mosque and the Coptic Church in front of it, then proceed to the Roman amphitheater. Carved into a hillside, this stunning 2nd-century structure is the most notable remnant of Philadelphia, the ancient city that once stood on the site of Amman. Admire its tiered sides and imagine its seats filled with the 6,000 spectators who once gathered here to watch plays.

Next, visit Amman Citadel, a walled, hilltop collection of antiquities above the city. Stroll around the timeworn Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic relics, and visit the Citadel's Amman Archaeological Museum to see its displays of dusty antiquities uncovered by archaeological digs across the country.

Then, leave the antiquities behind and focus on the traditional and modern sides of life in this vibrant city. Pass the Raghadan Palace, the burial place of the late King Hussein, and head downtown to see the old markets, mosques and streets stuffed with coffee shops and food stalls. Explore, too, the affluent residential neighborhood of Abdoun, and Swefieh, where luxury shopping malls frame the streets.

After roughly 4 hours, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel. Alternatively, ask your driver to drop you at one of the shopping malls that you saw on your tour or opt to visit the new Abdali area for free time to walk and eat at The Boulevard, known as the new modern down town of the capital Amman. Estimated Taxi cost according the area 10 – 15 American Dollars.

Tour plus Arabic Mezze LunchUpgrade to a 6-hour tour and after your city tour, visit a local restaurant for a delicious, included Arabic mezze lunch. Feast on a selection of authentic Arabic small plates and foods, such as barbecued chicken and beef, hummus, salads and breads. After about 2 hours, enjoy a hotel drop-off or ask your driver to drop you at a shopping mall that featured on your tour.

Tour plus Arabic Mezze Lunch and Turkish BathUpgrade to an 8-hour tour and after your included mezze lunch, visit one of Amman’s Turkish baths for a revitalizing steam, scrub and massage session — the perfect, pampering end to your day! Afterward, enjoy a drop-off at your hotel or ask your driver to drop you at a shopping mall that featured on your tour.

Please note: the order of activities as described for the city tour above may be subject to change on the day of your tour.

The driver was a sub and didn't know what time museums opened. He spoke little English which hampered learning about your city. The one bright spot was The Citadel that an English speaking guide. We enjoyed speaking with him.

What a great way to see many of the city's landmarks in just half a day! Excellent lunch location for some authentic Arabic food too.

Interesting tour. My wife and I are pretty spontaneous and this seemed like a unique twist on a basic tour. We were picked up on time from our hotel and driven via private car around Amman. We found out that our guide was actually not a tour guide, but rather the brother of the owner of the car and simply doing him a favor by driving us around the city. It felt more like a friend showing us around his city. Not much structure or history provided but this was fine with us. The dinner was absolutely fantastic. I advise you to skip lunch because there is a ton of amazing food. We also asked to start the tour at 5pm instead of 6pm because we wanted to see some of the sights during daylight. The Citadel was closing when we arrived but we were able to talk our way in for some beautiful pictures. Most of the remainder of the tour was driving around the upscale areas of Amman. I do not recall seeing the Radhadan palace but I may have forgotten. If you are interested in a laid back "tour" of the city with some great food, this would be good for you.

The driver was very friendly and I can't say enough about the dinner which was amazing! The only disappointment was the cost. If the dinner wasn't as good as it was I wouldn't reccomend this tour. Cab rides are cheap (3JD to the citadel) it was just too expensive.

Our driver was on time and picked us up from the hotel to take us around the city. He was immensely friendly and knowledgeable. We went to the Citadel at sunset, then headed to view the Roman Amphitheatre from a high point in the city._br/_ We were then taken for a trip through Downtown Amman before heading to a restaurant for dinner. The reason this tour misses a star is because the restaurant's service was a bit of a let-down and the staff were not that friendly or welcoming.

Amman is BEAUTIFUL, and the lunch was good. I was surprised to have to pay for water at lunch. As for the tour, I had no guide. I could have paid a taxi to take me to the Citadel. That's all I saw. I was a little offended by the gift shop. The driver was clearly getting a cut.
