Private Full Day Jerash and Umm Qais Tour From Dead Sea

Amman, Jordan

Travel in the comfort of a private vehicle on a tour where nature meets history, start by visiting Jerash, one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world to this day. Jerash has paved streets with the classic architecture of colonnades, famous hilltop temples, beautiful theaters, wide public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls. Many of the attractions are still in exceptional condition. Off to see the amazing black stone of the ancient city of Um Qais. Its offers beautiful views over the Northern Jordan Valley, the Sea of Galilee, and the Golan Heights. The walk around the Black Stoned ruins and a visit to the "Rustic" Museum is a must!

Leave Dead Sea Hotel to visit Jerash - The most complete and well preserved city of the Roman Empire. Jerash is one of the Decapolis cities to the north of Amman. During the Roman Empire it was often called “Pompoeii of the East”. Alexander the Great first built Jerash in the 2nd century B.C. you will enter through the main gate of the city and visit its Oval Plaza, Colonnaded Street as well as it theaters, and temples. The choice is almost endless; seeing is believing what Jerash has to offer. It is a journey in time!

Then drive to visit another unique and different roman city Um Qais, where the Ottoman Governor’s House has been restored and opened as a museum. Um Qais offers beautiful views over the Northern Jordan Valley, the Sea of Galilee, and the Golan Heights. Start the visit walking the docomanos street that leads to the theater which is different than other roman theaters since this one is directed west instead of north. Proceed to the basilica church to see its octagonal altar which was a temple. Continue to the main street "Cardomaximo" which means the main street. The direction of this street is from east to west, usually the Roman streets are from north to south.
