In the past it was one of the most dangerous streets in Amsterdam, where sailors could be found searching for local amusement. Nowadays, instead of the shady bars of yester year you'll find lively and welcoming Dutch pubs and restaurants.
The walk includes the entrance to the Museum of Prostitution where you can take a look behind the scenes and listen to the secrets of the women themselves.

This was the best activity we did in Amsterdam and i highly recommend anyone tondo this walking tour of the red light district! Although a lot of us know what the area is best well known for...doing an actual tour around there gives you more of an insight. Our tour guide Jose was brilliant knew his stuff and kept us really interested with facts and a bit of history around this tour. Its an evening tour so by the time it finishes and you end up right in the middle of the red light district you will see more life around there and plenty of thr girls in the windows! A crazy but intereting world here, you get dree admission into the museum of prostitution and that was well wort a visit too and learn more in there too. Just a heads up if you decide not to use your admission ticket the day of the tour you can go back the next day inthink they just require you to keep the walking tour ticket to allow you in but this is a definate must do tour in Amsterdam! Me and my boyfriend even said we would do this tour again if we return to Amsterdam : also dont take photos of the girls they do not like it but you will see no photo signs everywhere and your Tour guide will tell you thid also :

Guide Andy was knowledgeable, friendly. I recommend doing the guided tour for this instead of exploring on your own, because the guide explains stuff and takes in small, narrow alley where renting window prices are higher. If we were to explore on our own, we would not have known this alley existed. Shows you couple of sex shops from outside. NO pictures are allowed on this tour to honor anonymity. The tour price included the ticket to sex museum but we never got a chance to go inside. The guide said that some people come out in 5 minutes and some people want to take an hour, so I don't take you inside the museum.You have the tickets, you can come on your own after the tour. But after the tour not only we were tired, because this is a night time tour, but we even could not figure out how exactly to go back to that street. He should have said that meet me outside the museum at this time and allowed 15 minutes or so for quick browsing inside the museum. Our sex museum ticket money went to waste because we were living Amsterdam the next day.

The guide was not friendly and left without me after the free time in the museum. I waited out the front of the building and discovered I had just been left behind. I would not recommend. Do it yourself instead.

Andy, our tour guide, was energetic, entertaining and well informed. It was hard to hear his presentation over the noise of the street crowds. He showed us everything there was to see, but couldn't take us certain places because of the Saturday night/Winter Break mob.

Highly recommend this walking tour. We had Dan as a guide and he was very easy to follow and provided a lot of information. I learned many things about the red light district and prostitution in Amsterdam. The red light district is not as easy to find as I envisioned and it was nice to have the guide to show the different parts of the district and where each was.

This is a must do for Amsterdam - it gives a different insight to the night world and the guide we had was great and informative. The only disadvantage was due to the noise, it was super hard to hear the guide - they need to invest in whispers so everyone can hear. If you want to see the nightlife, this is a great tour.

This tour was the first one to tick off on our list of 25 tours that we had booked for our Grand tour of Europe! And we are glad that it was a fantastic start. _br/_ At the meeting point office of the tour provider, we registered ourselves and waited to be called out by our guide. Since this tour was scheduled at night, most of us were already tired after a long day of sight seeing. In my opinion, some extra space in the waiting area would be nice or better, if they could space out the meeting times to avoid the jam packed room!t_br/_ The tour itself was amazing, we were put into groups country wise so we ended up with a group of aussies! Nice way to do it as the guide can pass subtle jokes peculiar to the country! _br/_ Took us through the major alleyways and explained the history of the red light district and the sorts! Tour also included an entrance ticket to the Sex Museum which we could use at a later date. _br/_ Great way to explore the area, especially if you are not used to going to these kind of places and don't know what's involved! _br/_ thumbs up from us!

I really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide was really nice and knew a lot about the city. Down side is we were in a 2 language group so he had to do a lot of translating and it was hard to hear him at times. But I really enjoyed learning about the Red Light District and seeing all of it. I recommend this tour forsure!!

I really enjoyed the tour of the redlight district. Our guide was very informative and funny at the same time about the history of the red light district. I took the tour because it was my first time in Amsterdam and I was traveling alone and it was worth it. The red light district was safe and I ventured back down there myself the next day. What I would change only is going out in smaller groups. It was a nice size group so you struggled to hear and keep up with a big crowd. I recommend the tour and a few other tours I booked when on site like the Ice Bar.

This tour was a fantastic way to explore the Red Light District. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and took us though many of the hidden alleyways that I never would have explored on my own. He also got into the history of the area, and how it came to be, which to me, helped put the entire area into some perspective.

We started with 20 people in our group outside the tour company's address. A dutch man approx in his 50's took us for this tour. He had no sense of humour, walked too fast for us to catch up as we had to fight through the crowds, and finished the tour at least 1/2 hour early. By the end of the tour there were only 6 of us left - what does that say to you. Unfortunately I cannot remember the guide's name but we did fill out negative feedback at the tour office. It was such a shame.

Great tour- included the history of the area and the trade, along with the expected red light dazzle! Also incld.entry to Museum of Prostitution after the tour-which was also offered as next day entry til 11 AM,-since it became a bit late for us so we did the tour the next day which was also very informative! The guide walked very fast, and the area was thronged and packed with crowds of tour groups and gawkers. My husband lost the group when he stopped to take a picture, but fortunately he remembered where the tour agency was and returned there.

Worse tour I have ever purchased. All six of us walked out after one hour. John William was absolutely horrible - he was bored and spoke to us that way. Plus not informed that it would be a bilingual tour. So we were all ignored at least half of the time. My first time using Viator - won't be back.
