Amsterdam Shore Excursion: Van Gogh Museum and Amsterdam Hop-On Hop-Off Boat Day Pass

Amsterdam, Netherlands

See the best of Amsterdam while you’re in port with a day pass for the city’s hop-on hop-off boat tour, which includes skip-the-line access to one of Amsterdam's top attractions -- the Van Gogh Museum! The perfect do-it-yourself shore excursion in Amsterdam, the hop-on hop-off day pass allows you to travel around the city on a comfortable sightseeing boat, known as a ‘hop-on hop-off boat.’ Stop at Amsterdam’s top attractions like the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank House and explore the city at your own pace. Then, jump the long queues at the Van Gogh Museum, always high on the 'must-do list' for visitors to Amsterdam. See the world's largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, including such famous works as “Sunflowers".

In Amsterdam, canals are like roads, ferrying locals and visitors around the city. Instead of the sightseeing buses you’d find somewhere else, sightseeing boats are a unique way to tour Amsterdam while you’re in port. On this convenient shore excursion, set your own itinerary with a hop-on hop-off boat tour. Hop on and off as often as you like at 7 to 9 (depending on the season) canal stops located near Amsterdam's major museums, attractions and shopping centers. The pass is valid for one day, and the onboard commentary provides interesting information about Amsterdam.

Included with your day pass is the admission ticket to the Van Gogh Museum! The museum contains the world's largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, including such famous works as Sunflowers and several self-portraits. The museum's comprehensive collection of Van Gogh's work allows you to track the artist’s creative development, and compare his paintings to works by his 19th-century contemporaries like Gauguin and Monet.

This excursion is located within a 15-minute walk to the Amsterdam cruise port, so you determine the time you return to your ship in Amsterdam. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the excursion and ensure your timely return to the port. This excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy.

Line up too long at museum and weather poor....wet, wet wet

A complete and total failure and waste of money. Never able toget in the museum, no such thing as a fast line. The wait was over an hour and we did not have the time to wait. Use of the stop and go boat was inconvenient and not useful at all. Used taxis that we paid for to see some of the sights._br/_ Would never use Viator again. Such a waste of money and so misleading.

Canal boats don't often run on schedule. Commentary is on very low volume over the boat's speakers. If any passengers are talking most were you can't hear the commentary at all. Need individual recording sets and earpieces. Otherwise it's just a nice boat ride. Museum was nice, but don't believe the no lines baloney. Even with our tickets in hand, we waited in line for over an hour. You just don't have to stand in the line to buy the tickets.

Excellent tour. Advise all travelers to pre-book events and use hop on hop off tour facility.

Skip the line is just shorter wait of the two lines about 10 minutes. Some how everybody has the same idea. For more convenience, recommend avoid exchanging the voucher for HOHO.

Enjoyed the perspective of the city from the canal. Easy access to Van Gough Museum.

Museum was great and should be a must for all visitors. Hop on Hop off boat experience was not so great. The hours were limited and would have enjoyed an evening opportunity to see the city. The boat windows should be cleaned for optimal viewing. The boat drivers were very nice.

The ticket kiosk was very close to my hotel and the vendor hadn't heard of the "shore excursion" part of the tour. That was fine for me as I didn't realize that this was supposed to be a "pick you up at your ship" excursion in the first place. I received the tickets no problem. Bypassed the line at Van Gogh, which was about 30 people, I arrived around 10 in the a.m. The line was MUCH longer when I left, mind you. The canal pass was great too. The advantage of booking with Viator is that there is a reservation when I get there. There are other companies out there but this is a reliable company that offers great tours with knowledgeable guides. That being said, this excursion did not have a guide for either the museum or the canals.

The ticket to the museum was wonderful. There was practically no wait, The commentary on the boats were typical. The captains were friendly and quite knowledgeable The tour was well worth the money. On the other hand the directions for where to catch the canal bus were vague and the busses were not that regular.
