Laugh the evening away at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam! This popular English-language comedy show is an exhilarating spectacle of sharp writing and quick improvisation with music, video and multimedia. This improvisational group, which began in 1993, is especially known for incorporating suggestions from the audience and addressing the issues of the day. Boom Chicago performs four nights a week at the historical 250-seat Rozentheater, located in Amsterdam’s famous Jordaan Quarter in the canal district.
See Boom Chicago in the heart of Amsterdam, where members of the comedy troupe perform almost every night at the Rozentheater. The venue, built in 1913 as a cinema with live variety acts, was fully renovated in 2004 with many original details intact, including the restored stained glass. The 250-seat theater offers a larger, open lobby that includes a full bar for guests to enjoy.
This fast-paced entertainment includes actors, a musical director and multimedia technician who all work together to make a hysterical show. Known for their quick improvisation, the actors turn suggestions from the audience into original scenes and hilarious jokes that are different for every performance. Boom Chicago’s written sketches are topical and sharp, and each show is exciting and full of big laughs!
It's improv comedy. Improv comedy is always hit or miss. On the night I was there it was mostly miss. I have no doubt that the cast members have all had better moments. I like going to see live performances when traveling abroad and I noticed that this one was in English. Never having been to The Netherlands before I was looking for tours and entertainments in English to help me acclimate to this beautiful city. that's one reason I decided to see this show. No need to worry. I soon found out that everyone in The Netherlands speaks English. Still, I wouldn't either recommend or not recommend this performance. The next night it may have been hysterically funny. Just not the night I was there.

This show was really good but the Trump show was still on which was unexpected as it was supposed to have finished by now. We did enjoy it but Trump bashing isn't our thing. even though we think the guy is an absolute idiot!!!. All in all , well worth doing though.

Easy-to-find location. I thought the show was pretty funny not great but my travel partner thought it was hilarious. Not a big crowd but we were there during the middle of the week in February. Full bar with good service. They had a food menu, too, but I didn't see anyone eating. I heard that if there's not a big crowd you can go to the box office the day of the show and get heavily discounted tickets. Not sure if that's true, but worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

The artists involved were very clever and masters of their trade. As we went on a weekday, it was not full. I would imagine that on a weekend the atmosphere would be better. First time seeing this kind of show and it was good fun.

Humour was a little 'weak'. Acoustics in the theatre aren't great which makes hearing, particularly with the stong accents, difficult. Go for a pleasant night out but not with high hopes of a hysterical production.

It was a good experience, the actors were funny and the skits were well played out. We enjoyed good service and a memorable evening. We didn't get the best seats in the house but you can see and hear from all angles of the theater.

It wasn't very good. It was way overpriced considering the quality of talent, location and dynamic of sketches. Jokes were ok but not that funny and actors struggled to be creative, often pandering to American audiences with jokes about Dutch people and course humor just to fill gaps.

Really funny show!! Improve comedy at its best! It was like watching "Who's Line" live! It was great to be able to eat dinner while watching the show! Only problem was that they lost our order. When asked about it, they immediately offered us beer and our order came out shortly thereafter (although after everyone else's order). Overall great experience!

We saw "Methamorphosis" and recommend it for north americans, it's their kind of nice humor! For us it's funny but not that much - we've expected a different kind of humor, but it's ok. We left the theatre before the show finished because the restaurants in Amsterdam close at 10 p.m., otherwise we would had stay till the end.

Make sure you pay a bit extra and get the drinks included, four jugs of beer later and I was rocking. One downside is the elbow room you have on the table, they do pack you in quite tight. Overall would definitely go again every time i am in Amsterdam.
