Bruges Day Trip from Amsterdam Including Bruges Walking Tour

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Admire the charms of Bruges on a full-day tour from Amsterdam that includes a guided walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval city center. Enjoy free time to explore on your own, whether you'd like to examine lace artworks at the Lace Centre museum, visit monuments like the Jerusalem Church and the Saint-Sang Basilica or taste Belgian delicacies such as chocolate and beer. There's something for everyone in this historic city, considered a gem of Belgium.

Your day starts with morning pickup in central Amsterdam or at the foot of the A'DAM Lookout tower. Get comfortable on a smaller size coach for the scenic 3-hour drive south to Bruges, also known as the Venice of the North due to its numerous canals.

When you arrive in Bruges, your guide orients you to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city center during a walking tour that includes an introduction to the history and culture of Bruges and Belgium. Afterward, have free time in the canal-laced city and find a spot to purchase your lunch. You may want to try Belgian specialties such as moules frites (fried mussels), pommes frites (french fries) and Belgian waffles, topped off with delicious Belgian beer. For a dessert treat, stop into one of the city’s many exquisite chocolate boutiques.

Once you have satisfied your appetite, you will be able to enjoy more time on your own to explore. You can stroll past quaint houses with elaborately decorated facades, delve into the street markets or purchase a ticket for the Lace Centre (Kantcentrum) museum and learn about this Flemish craft.

Near the Lace Centre stands the Jerusalem Church, which was modeled on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre when built in 1428 by a wealthy pilgrim who had recently returned from Jerusalem. Other highlights include the magnificent main square (Grote Markt), the Place du Bourg with the Saint-Sang Basilica, the Beguine Convent and the Gothic-style Town Hall.

After a full afternoon taking in the wonders of Bruges, rejoin your coach for the return journey to Amsterdam.

Too little time to visit the complete town but it was a lovely trip. The walking tour is quite hard to keep up with since there is a rush to cover the entire old town. Keep up with the guide and dont lose him. We lost the guide and looked around the place on our own. The boat ride is not included in the price but is a lovely experience.

Booked this tour in English and found out that the tour is operated in multiple languages. This made it very annoying to listen to commentary as our guide kept switching back and forth between English and Spanish every sentence. Also, our guide did NOT give a tour in Bruges. He pointed out key spots for us to find our way back to the bus, but did not give us any history or information about the town. He basically rushed thru the town to his luncheon spot and then left us. I've been on many tours and this was the worst by far. It was basically transportation from Amsterdam to Bruges, not really a tour.

The tour of Brugge was better than anticipated. History is an amazing thing but better still with a guide who knows her history. We couldn't have had a better day with the weather it was perfect. The medieval city is a sight to behold, more time could be spent there very easily. Food is no problem souvenirs are no problem, language us no problem. Most people we talked to were multi lingual. I wouldn't suggest that anyone pull a suitcase over the cobbles....we had three on our tour who were staying in the city at the end of the walking tour, they found it difficult with their cases. Given the opportunity I would go back to spend more time.

The bus pickup situation was VERY confusing—the bus was not the same company and had a different destination posted, so always ask the driver if it’s the correct bus. Guide talked too much, and took us to small busy areas. Couldn’t wait to split up and go on my own. Bruges is packed with tourists.

Great tour beautiful Picturesque town but the tour guide has a deal with the restaurant they take you and they want the people to sit inside the outdoor patio is only for people not in tours. We wanted to sit outside and the restaurant owner told us that we couldn't and that they wouldn't serve us. So we left and chose a different restaurant with outdoor sitting. Great Town lots of shops and lots of people.

Bruges is a beautiful place and the trip was worth visiting. However time wise this can be a lot better, e.g. we started 30-45 mins late from Amsterdam and still return time was not adjusted to compensate this extra time. With travelling of around 5-6h in total, you get only 3-4h at the destination which is not enough. Otherwise transport was okay and the guide was fine. Overall a good trip.

Even though it was a long 3 hr bus ride it gave us a chance to see the countryside of the Netherlands and Belgium. Both going and coming back our guide gave us information and answered questions. He gave us a chance to relax as well and didn't talk the entire time. We loved the city of Bruges. We had a chance to walk the streets, shop in the chocolate and lace shops, and have a Belgian lunch. We all said we would go back to Bruges to spend some time there. Lots to see and do and so charming a city.

Wonderful place to visit so steeped in historic buildings. Tour on the bus was great and information provided by guide. Down side of this tour was poor communication during the walking tour due to no head sets provided and with the crowds it was impossible to stay within hearing distance of the guide. Really recommend that the tour company invest in head sets for future tours.

Until the Company is more clear about the pickup locations and directions we cannot recommend this. Because of the poor directions and lack of help from the local tour company - we missed this trip.

There were so many issues with this, I think it is best to begin at the start. The toilet on the bus had no light and did not flush. People were using their cell phones as lights while in the toilet and then, after they finished, the toilet would not flush. The smell was horrible.

Day trip to Bruges from Amsterdam was really nice. Walking tour in the town was very good and informative, It's a beautiful place and worth a visit. I do feel travel time can be managed better, so visitors get more time in the Bruges itself, e.g. we started pretty late then decided time and return time was not changed to match this difference. So my suggestion would be if you start your trip half an hour early and end half an hour late plus be punctual on time, visitors can easily get 1 to 1.5 hour extra at destination.

The tour was really nice, if you only have a short time in netherland but want to visit at least other place. eventhough the time was really short but we enjoyed it. the guide, Monik and driver Niko, were really friendly and responsive to us, Monik gave us stories about Belgium and Bruge along the way.

The trip to Brugge was as huge disappointment! The tour started 30 to 45 minutes late. There was road construction on the way that delayed us even more.I would have thought that a professional company would have scoped out the road situation before hand. By the time we got there, we had 2 1/2 hours of time. So..... We spent 7 hours on a bus for 2 1/2 hours at our destination. Not good. Although our tour guide was very good, He, the bus driver, and another guide talked very loudly the whole time we were on the bus each way..... Literally the entire time!!! It was very intrusive and annoying. Do NOT take this tour. Waste of money

Excellent guide! Very informed and gave great information for the entire three hour drive to Bruges. Bruges is lovely but we weren't prepared for the huge crowds. Our fault. But the place was packed. Lots of fun shops. Sadly, however, the only place on our entire trip to The Netherlands that we encountered rude shop keepers was in Bruges. They must have been tried of tourists. The trip to Bruges was something we had most anticipated on our trip. Glad we did it but have no need to ever go back.

I would highly recommend the Bruges day trip from Amsterdam. Apart from identifying the correct bus there are many stopping in front of the Victoria hotel, the tour is professionally run and very informative. The guide had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. _br/_ Bruge itself is stunning. The old town is one of the most beautifully kept historical urban destinations I have seen during my European travels. Loads of sights to enjoy and the delicacies on offer will make any foodies day. Treat yourself and take a day to visit this beautiful town.

The town is very picturesque and worth seeing. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us lot of interesting information. _br/_ The only thing I would advise is to be more considerate about the passengers comfort in the bus in this 3-hour drive in each direction. Half of the passengers were with their coats on the whole trip even after few of us mentioned that is was cold.

Nice day in Bruge but totally let down by coach driver put air con full blast - half the folks were putting on extra clothing to keep warm, Wnen he was told to turn it off -he said I and #39;ll reduce it! Moved seats and my nose was icy cold by then. I have a stinky cold! It takes 3 hours there and back.

The guide, Maximo, was very good. There was some problem initially with where we would be picking this up as three locations were indicated on the receipt. Before we left for our trip we inquired and were told we could pick it up at any of the three locations. It is a good thing that we selected the Hotel Victoria location the third stop as this was the only stop it took off from! If we had gone to the other locations we would have missed the trip.

The trip from Amsterdam took about 3 hours. The driver was very cautious and smooth, never a mishap. The tour guide was informative and often humorous. The walking tour was more than adequate, highlighting the spots we should spent more time on after lunch. All in all a good trip and one I would highly recommend.

A full day trip from Amsterdam to Brugge with plenty of time for a walking tour and free time to explore. Our guide Rafael maintained an interesting and informative commentary from the moment we boarded the bus. His insights into the city of Brugge were excellent and his tips on what to see and do during the free time were worth listening too. A highlight of the trip was a visit to the Church of Our Lady to marvel at the Michelangelo sculpture Madonna and Child and to soak in the atmosphere of the old town.

The guide was informative. Do not sit near the toilet, the bus really smelled from toilet. They should advertise for emergency use only. _br/_ Small argument between the driver and guide about the route erupted - something passengers should not witness

We took this tour on May 14, 2016. We picked up the tour in front of the main entrance at Stedeljik Museum first pickup and than ventured on with some more stops in between to the Victoria hotel for the last pick up of passengers. The tour guide gave us an overview of Brugges and all the places we were passing on our way. Once in Brugges we were given a map and the tour guide gave us a brief tour before guiding us to a restaurant with authentic flemish food for lunch this was optional but everyone opted to go The food was great and we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Brugges on our own. We opted to do the Historium recommend and some shopping, unfortunately there wasn't time for anything else We started making our way back to the bus about 45 mins before it was due to depart and were glad we did as Brugges is a complete maze so make sure you hold on to your map and watch for landmarks on the way in.
